Shelbee on the Rags: “Coffee Break” Rag Curtain & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #698

This next raggery project was inspired by my “Café au Lait” Shaggy Raggy Garland. After the garland was completed and my older son said it looked like coffee, I got the idea to create a large rag curtain in a similar color palette with the image of a coffee cup.

But I really wasn’t sure how to do it!

When I created the “Carolina on My Mind” rag curtain in the shape of a tree, I was guided completely by prayer and faith in the artistic process. For the coffee cup curtain, however, I was not confident in faith alone and needed a little more concrete assistance.

So I got a big roll of brown paper and drew the outline of a coffee cup to follow as pattern and I am so pleased with the final outcome. This time I took lots of photos of the curtain as I was building it. Check it out…

I didn’t think I could do it but I surprised myself! Isn’t she adorable?

I named her “Coffee Break” for obvious reasons. She’s 7.5’ tall and 4’ wide, made from unwanted sheets and pillow cases, a blanket, some curtains, and a few pairs of pants. She needs a new home and I need to start working on my next ideas. I did a massive closet clean out yesterday so I have bags and bags of unwanted clothing to turn into raggery art. What should I make next?
