Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Maxi Skirts & Spread the Kindness Link Up On the Edge #827

I feel like we skipped September and ended up in October too soon! It’s time for the next round of sharing our Good Buys and Good-Byes.

This month we are inviting you to share your favorite (or least favorite) Maxi Skirts. Maxi skirts is just a fancy term for long skirts. However, the maxi length generally indicates that the hem falls below the middle of your calf. A long skirt that is calf length is usually referred to as a midi skirt. Then, of course, you have short skirts that hit just above the knee, mini skirts that usually hit about half way down your thigh, and micro mini skirts that show your bum if you bend over. But we’re keeping it maxi for this edition…so any long skirt will do. We aren’t that picky, we just like to see what you’re wearing!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Remember anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a brief description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. You just need a camera and an email address! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post.

Everyone is invited to join us in October to share your favorite (or least favorite) Long Skirts. All you have to do is snap a photo or two and email us with a short description by October 10, 2026, so you can be featured in our Good Buy/Good-Bye Book on October 15, 2026.

This is where I would usually share a round up of my long skirts but I don’t have very many and I don’t have the energy right now to hunt through my archives to find them. This week has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life as a parent. Keeping it brief, a girl had a crush on my 13 year old son. She asked him if he would date her. He politely told her that he wasn’t interested in dating anyone. And then it got ugly. The next day, my son received 9 pages of “you should kill yourself” text messages from an anonymous number. My son is mentally and emotionally stable so he’s totally fine but his momma is not! This is so totally unacceptable and the bureaucratic bullshit included in the school’s way of handling these types of incidents is nothing short of disturbing, disappointing, and even shocking. Now the girl is telling people that she is cutting herself because my son broke up with her. I also reported that through the appropriate channels in an attempt to the girl the help she needs. However, my son never dated her. I never even heard this girl’s name until this incident occurred. And I’m a mom who knows exactly where my kids are and who they are with at all times. I’m so saddened, frustrated, confused, and I’ll admit even a little frightened by what has transpired this week. I did take all appropriate actions through all appropriate channels including DASA Reporting with the school and a police report. But I feel no relief yet. I’ve lost nearly 10 pounds since Sunday when this was first brought to my attention. If you’re the praying type, please send prayers for everyone involved. The perpetuators probably need some prayers the most.

If you would like to play along for this round, please send your photos and descriptions to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or info@nancysfashionstyle.com. You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. And be sure to invite any friends who may want to join us as well. The more, the merrier. We love to see it all!
