Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Jewelry with a Story & Link Up On the Edge #302
July’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is all about Jewelry with a Story. Do you have a special piece of jewelry with lots of sentimental value? We want to hear the stories behind your most interesting jewelry, where it came from, and why you love (or hate) to wear it.
What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?
It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for July by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite (or least favorite) Jewelry with a Story to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by July 10, 2022. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.
Now I am going to dig into the archives of my blog and see what interesting jewelry I can find to share. I have lots of Jewelry with a Story because I have some the most amazing friends and family who gift me very special things. And all of those gifted pieces are special to me because their stories are personal to me.
In fact, in just the past 2 weeks, I have shared 6 pieces of Jewelry with a Story.

I have so many more sentimental pieces like the very special butterfly brooches from my mother-in-law, the Jamaican seashell jewelry from my friend Denise, the boldly unique hand-beaded fairy cabochon necklace made especially for me by Michelle, the beautiful turquoise beaded earrings that my kids gave me to for Mother’s Day, and the whimsical fish earrings that Archie made for me with his 3-Doodler pen. But I have to save some for the official Good Buy/Good-Buy Book post coming on July 15.
You get the idea, right? It seems that all of my jewelry has a special story which is probably why I struggle with sartorial hoarding issues!
Do you have special jewelry with a story? Be sure to send us your photos by July 10!

Hm… I’m not sure I have many stories attached to my jewellery. I shall have to think about that one! I’m excited to read yours though, Shelbee!

What?! How do you not have stories attached to all the gorgeous jewelry you have from your mother in law! You always share the stories of the pieces she has gifted to you! I think you might be overthinking the story theme. Haha. I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend!

Thank you for the party. I have so much jewelry that could tell a story too. I love to buy jewelry as souvenirs from trips I take. My favorite is an real Coloroado aspen leaf that they put a glaze over and made into a necklace.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Amy! Oooh, I remember my mom gave me a leaf necklace many years ago that was a real leaf dipped in gold plate. I don’t have it anymore but that was a really nice memory! I hope you send us a photo of your leaf necklace for this post! Have a wonderful weekend.

So pretty. Some of my jewelry are from my grandmas. Either they bought it for me or it was theirs.

Being a history buff, I love anything with a story. My husband’s grandmother had a leather duster from the 70’s that I proudly wore before I gained a few pounds (you would have loved it – so retro). And when my husband got diagnosed with cancer he brought me a bracelet with charms symbolizing both of our cancer journeys. I wear it almost every day.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Oh my goodness, Lauren, those are such beautiful special stories! Thank you so much for sharing them with me. I had a bracelet from when my husband was deployed that said “You’ve got this.” I wore it everyday to remind myself that I would be fine by myself with the kids while he was deployed. I stopped wearing it when he returned home then I passed it on to Archie’s 2nd grade teacher when one of his classmates died in a house fire. As far as I know, she wore it often to get through that trying time. I told her to pass it on to the next person who might need when she no longer needed it. Jewelry really can make such a special gift!

Most of my pieces of jewelry have a backstory. The items were either gifts from loved ones, inherited pieces from deceased family members, or jewelry pieces that I purchased while traveling. Every time a wear one of these items, I’m reminded of the person or place connected with the jewelry. Thanks for hosting the link-up.

Carol, I love that! Most of my jewelry is the same…it was gifted to me or I bought it as a souvenir for myself or I acquired it from a family member. I love the wave of memories that washes over me whenever I put on one of those special pieces of jewelry. It is like a warm hug! And who doesn’t want their accessories to hug them?! Hopefully, you will join us this month with some of your special jewelry!

That’s such a pretty tassel necklace, and it reminds me that I have something very similar—I should wear it more often!

Thanks so much, Cheryl! I love my mala beads and most of my favorite necklaces are long tassel ones. But I don’t wear them often because I am always afraid I will catch them on something and break them. I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Thanks so much for the feature!
I have so many special pieces of jelwerry! This is a great theme but it would be too hard to pick a favourite! I have 5 bracelets that I never ever take off that are very sentimental, and every now and then I add another one to the stack, haha!
Thanks for the link up! Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mica! I don’t think you need to pick a favorite! You can send in a photo of your bracelet stack that you always wear! It is so fun to hear what makes our special pieces special. I hope you have the most wonderful weekend!
