Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Florals

“Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.”

Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada

It is one of the best known lines from any fashion inspired movie ever. And it has inspired this month’s theme for The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. As I am typing this post, however, I am sitting in wait watching a giant storm move our way that is threatening to dump 5-10 inches (12-25 cm) of snow on us. How’s that for an April Fool’s joke played by Mother Nature?!

So let me get started by flipping my hair and rolling my eyes at Ms. Nature while I find some fresh springy florals to share with you. Eventually the ground will thaw and the flowers will bloom. But until then, floral prints are what I have to cast some springtime energy over the newly fallen snow.

If you would like to join us with your favorite (or least favorite) floral things, send us your photos with a brief description by April 10, 2021. Please feel free to submit two different photos for features on my blog as well as Nancy’s.

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for April by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite Florals.

I love floral prints and tend to be drawn to darker palettes with smaller patterns. But I also appreciate a bright bold floral print, too. Let’s have a look of some of my favorite floral things from my closet.

So many wonderful florals here, your floral print kimonos are just beautiful and I really love them styled with jeans!
And the dresses!! All are gorgeous and look so good on you! I wish I would wear more dresses, but being short I’ve found it mostly impossible to find some that aren’t too long on me so over the years I’ve given up mostly 🙁

Sorry to hear you’re supposed to receive this much snow!! Hope it moves on quickly and that the rest of April will bring lots of spring flowers! It’s gotten unseasonably cold here too, but at least the sun is shining! That said, Easter is supposed to bring over 70 degrees and I am looking forward to that!!

    Happy Easter!!

Ellie, thank you so much! I do love my kimonos and realized that many of them are floral prints. They are such a great completer piece over jeans or shorts or dresses or swimsuits even. I am wondering how midi dresses would work for you. They might fit like proper maxi dresses!

Thankfully, the snowstorm sort of died out before it really did anything. We had a few hours this morning of big fluffy snowflakes but nothing accumulated on the ground. So that makes me really happy! It looks like next week, which is Spring Break for my kids, will be cloudy and in the low 50’s all week. So I can tolerate that well enough. But I am quickly tiring of all the layers of clothing!

Ooh, you have a serious floral COLLECTION, Michelle! I love that big full dark floral skirt and your bright shiny green kimono.

I am dying to wear some floral, so it’s Closet Swap-Over time (T-minus 3-ish hours! ack!). I also have a couple of Easter things this weekend, so I’ll be going all floral to go with the “liquid sunshine” we are enjoying today.

Florals get my head into a good space, no matter what the weather. Good luck with that big front coming! Batten down the hatches!

Sheila, thank you! Oooh that full floral skirt is actually the most amazing dress with buttons all the way down the front! If you go to the post, there should be pictures of it without all the extra layers. The storm seems to have faded out as it was traveling our way because we mostly got rain with a few big fluffy snowflakes that lasted for a few hours but did not accumulate. Thank goodness! Enjoy your Closet Swap Over! It is always to fun reevaluate the next season’s wardrobe.

      xoxo

Hope you are having a good Easter weekend 🙂
