Radical Ralphie is the Bomb & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #150
Last week, I introduced you all to a new series here at Shelbee on the Edge…Radical Ralphie: The Boy Fashion Blogger. And if you recall my post from last Tuesday about Unexpected Gifts, you may recognize this adorable little bomber jacket that Mireille of Chez Mireille so generously gifted to my style crazed 6 year old. He can be finicky and rather stubborn when it comes to his clothing. Actually, he can be finicky and stubborn when it comes to just about anything in life. As such, I wasn’t sure if he would be overly excited about his new jacket when it arrived or if he would toss it to the ground adamantly stating that he hated it. Thank goodness his reaction was positive as he promptly slipped the jacket on and declared that he wasn’t going to take it off. Ever. Thank you, Mireille, for washing it first because he was not going to allow me the time to wash before wearing!
Speaking of stubborn, this little guy does not want my help in styling his outfits for photo shoots. I tried to switch out his boots for an adorable pair of Merrill hiking boots with touches of orange to coordinate with his blue and orange checked shirt, but he was not having it. Apparently, these gray chukka boots are his blogging boots and it is what he will wear until he changes his mind about what he will wear. I mean, I have only been doing this blogging thing for over 4 years, but what the heck do I know?
Once he had his outfit complete with tan cargo pants, checked shirt, chukka boots, and his new bomber jacket sporting all sorts of military inspired patches, he asked if he could borrow my Army baseball cap. Because it matched the jacket. Then he asked Archie if he could borrow his binoculars for a prop because he thought the outfit looked like an Army general in the field and he needed the proper equipment to give it more credibility. We then headed out for photos and he was like a damn diva, this kid. He did not approve of the location we had chosen to shoot photos. So after a mini break down, we told him we would drive around and if he saw a spot he liked, we would stop there.
We were heading to the old abandoned tank factory to shoot my outfit (shown in Sunday’s post) and as we turned down the dead end road that takes us to the factory, Ralph enthusiastically yelled and pointed, “Right there, by that fence, in those weeds! That’s where we need to take my pictures.” The boy-diva had spoken so we obliged. And the kid really gets into character when he’s feeling it! Maybe I need to get him involved in drama club.
After a few quick shots, the wee one was shivering from cold and was just about done putting on his fashion blogging act. And he simply does not have the capacity to suck it up for the sake of the blog, like his poor freezing mother does! It’s okay. I guess we will cut him some slack. But only because he’s so darn cute.
Do you have some fashion savvy little people in your life? Do they get super particular with their outfit choices?
And now your featured favorites from last week’s party.

Oh my goodness, the cuteness. The bomber is PERFECT!
I think you need to get him into a coding class so he can be your intern. Haha.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family!

Thanks so much, Anne! You know, the boys did take a coding class a few years ago when Ralph was 4 and he was really quite good at it! I do need to look into getting them into that again. It was a 4-H class and it was free so you can’t beat that! Wishing you and Severo a very Happy Thanksgiving as well!

Look at him go! Doing his thing! This post put a smile on my face this morning! I love the bomber jacket he is wearing, so nice of Mirielle. He had a good eye with the hat and I love the plaid with the army green. I understand about the cold, there are days we do a 10 minute photoshoot, as I am a cold weather wimp! Not bad now, but the winter..
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family!

OMG? Is your little Ralphie just the cutest little man!! I hate to say it, but my son has been a picky dresser his whole life. And it started as soon as he could talk!! I can’t tell you how many adorable pieces of clothing I bought him that he never wore, but he wore his USA t-shirt every day in fourth grade. It washed to death! Lol! So, good luck, my friend! (It’ll still be loads of fun with him!)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
xx Darlene
P.S. I’m coming back from a whole week with my computer being repaired, so I’m playing catch up.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, Darlene, thanks so much for this wonderful comment! The USA tee shirt story cracked me up because Ralph wore his USA tank top all summer long with his USA baseball hat. And we had to get a USA swim suit and underwear! They are so funny when they get an idea in their heads! I am glad your computer is back up and running…wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving!

Boy, you have your hands full Shelbee. I’m definitely thinking he needs to get in a drama club. But what a fashionista (or what do you call a young boy who loves style??)
That jacket is the bomb.
XOOX
Jodie
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I definitely have my hands full, Jodie! No doubt about that. So I just did a little research on the term fashionista. The suffix -ista is gender neutral making the term fashionista applicable for both males and females who are into fashion. But many men do not like the word because it sounds so very female (oh no!). So the following terms have been coined for male fashionistas…fashionister, fashionist, and fashionisto. And we both learned something new today! Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving, my friend!

Shelbee!!! Please let The General know he is quite handsome in his bomber jacket and khaki pants and that I hope he finds The Enemy on his next mission in the field. Good movies to watch: the newest Midway (just saw with Mr. Ethereal a week ago!), YouTube clips on Medal of Honor recipients. A lot of humble men and women out there who are deserving veterans… <3
Thanks for stopping by, btw! Just saw your message. 🙂 Linking up my hot cocoa bar from this month's Pinterest Challenge. <3
Happy Thanksgiving to you and I love the fashion pics! LOVE long boots although I don't have any (usually don't fit my calves),
Barb 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, Barb, thanks so much! I will pass the message on to the little General! He does watch of lots of military related things with soldier Daddy, but we will definitely check out your recommendations! I love your cocoa bar and while I didn’t set up an actual bar, we did have a hot chocolate chain the other day while decorating the Christmas tree. As for long boots, have you searched for wide calf ones? Simply Be is an awesome site where you can measure your calves and specify the exact right fit! Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving!

Marilee Judith Gramith
Yo Ralphie!
You really know how to style and ROCK a look.
The binocular prop is a true touch of genius and I’m also liking the fence and the windblown high grass backdrop. A “fashion-general” always knows where his look will be most flattering and with your photographer/blogger/mom in your backpack (to consult as needed) I’m pretty sure you are going to continue to create some COOL “fits”
Can’t wait to see your next post.
Jude
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Jude, thank you so much for such a lovely and super fun comment! Ralphie will certainly appreciate that! He has a bit of a hunter’s look coming tomorrow…if I can get it done! I hope you had the most wonderful Thanksgiving, my friend. Many blessings to you.
