Lake Placid Travel Day & Link Up On the Edge #94
Life is really kicking my butt lately. Allergy season is upon us which seems to have gotten the best of me and my kids today. We are all coughing and sneezing and congested and ever so sleepy. So once again, I did not get my post written in a timely manner. And this bothers me some because I am a very timely person. But alas, my muse must be sleeping right now because the struggle is real trying to find the words I want to share. Maybe the allergies have got hold of her as well. Or maybe she is suffering with menopause like I am. I’m tired, my friends. Like all the time. So, so tired. Send me the crybaby soup!
In any event, I have promised to share some of my Lake Placid trip. So here it is…Day 1…Travel Day. When I travel, I need to be comfortable and cozy. An oversized sweatshirt, ripped jeans, and sneakers was suitable for the 2 1/2 hour drive to Lake Placid. And as you can see from the pictures, it was a cold and snowy weekend…and it was just 2 weeks ago.
I am planning on getting lots of rest this weekend. It looks like we are going to have a cold and rainy Saturday. Perfect for staying inside and forcing oneself to relax. Hopefully, some clarity and inspiration will return to my very foggy brain. What do you all do to find that clarity and motivation when it seems to be slipping from your grasp?
And now your favorite posts from last week.
Stephanie of Glamorous and Geeky shared her Tips for cleaning out the closet. And I have to say, she makes it sound so easy. And yet I cannot bring myself to do it. But it really needs doing. I am so overwhelmed by the work that lies ahead of me in the closet cleaning process. Perhaps this rainy weekend will be the perfect time to get started. Thanks, Stephanie, for sharing your tips and maybe possibly giving me the motivation I need!
Linda of A Labour of Life shared her post, Navy and White Stripe Jumpsuit Old Navy. Linda styles stripes better than most, always adding the perfect contrasting pattern that kicks it up a notch. Check out her amazing floral shoes! And then head over to her blog and see some of her other styling choices with mixed prints. She truly is a pattern mixing genius!
I hope you all have the most amazing weekend filled with inspiration and motivation and all of the things that I am trying to find! Please send some my way, if you have any extra to spare!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Shelbee, I know what you mean! I was so tired so much but I figured out I was low on B12 so check with your doctor. It really helped me! Loving your casual look today! Happy Friday!

Cheryl, thank you so much for the tip! I have been so fatigued for months now and I can’t seem to snap out of it. I just had blood drawn last week to test all of this but my appointment with the doctor to go over the results isn’t for another 2 weeks. Hopefully, I get some answers and can start improving the way I feel. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Shelbee, it is easy to feel foggy between the weather, menopause, responsibilities, etc. etc. I have been taking care of my 7 year old grandson, who has been sick all week. Now I am getting sick too! If it’s not one thing it’s another! Ha, ha. It is hard to get inspired when all you feel like doing is sleeping or being curled up with a good book or a good show on Netflix! That is how I feel right now. It’s okay to have an off day or week…that’s just life. The best thing to do is give yourself grace. I hope you have a restful and relaxing weekend! – Amy

Amy, thank you so much for your very wise and encouraging words. I have the hardest time cutting myself a break and allowing myself time to relax and be unproductive. I hate being unproductive so much that I can get caught in a spiral of spinning my wheels trying to be productive. It is a vicious cycle, indeed. I appreciate your little nudge! I hope you and your grandson feel better soon. Have a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you, Michele! Yeah the snow was an unpleasant addition during the last weekend in April! But I guess that’s what I get for living in arctic upstate New York! Have a great weekend.

I’m at home visiting my parents in Chicago and the weather is BONKERS. It was 80 degrees and sunny yesterday, today it’s 55 and raining. No wonder my allergies are out of control! I feel like my head is in a vise. Gotta love spring! May your Claritin be plentiful and your Flonase be strong!

So, let me get this straight… You’ve just turned the corner on a long, dark, cold winter, with loads of snow, till you thought it would never stop. So naturally you go look for some more of the same????
Oh well, better you than me, dear, I suppose. I’m basking in the fabulous glow of the first warm summer days, with endless sunshine and the long, dark winter nothing but a distant memory.
It does look like a great place, though. I’ll get back to these pictures in July (by then I’ll be cursing the hot weather).
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Oh my goodness, Tiina! You crack me up! I didn’t go looking for the snow, per se, it just sort of followed me! Or it is just inescapable in this arctic region where I reside. Who knows? But it seems to have stopped for now and we have a beautiful 10 days ahead of us according to the weather forecast. Although, it is not unheard of (and actually quite common) for us to have least one more day of snow around mid-May…I guess we will see! And yes by mid-July, I too will be tired of the heat. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay cool!

Your trip to the Lake Placid area looks like ot was so much fun! Those snowy photos are pretty and I admire the fact that you still recognize the beauty of snowy landscapes after all of the dnow you put up with this spring.
