Inspired by Little Blonde Book: Haute Holiday & Link Up On the Edge #176
It seems a little surreal that Christmas is just 5 days away. I am ready and I am not ready. In an effort to feel more in the holiday spirit, I have been trying to create festive outfits, but ones that would also work post-holiday season. Reds and greens and whites with splashes of plaids and animal prints have been the things drawing my attention recently. And you all know my fondness for colorful tights. Brightly colored legs are definitely putting me in the holiday mood!
Like most fashion-conscious friends I know, I often go scouring Pinterest for inspiration every now and then. I was on a recent quest for some cute outfit ideas featuring red tights. And this is when I discovered Taylor of Little Blond Book. I did not know Taylor previous to my Pinterest discovery but when I spotted her adorable outfit combining a cream colored dress and coat with red tights, I was an immediate fan. It took some searching to find the exact link to Taylor’s look that I found on Pinterest, but I was diligent in my search so that I could give proper credit and accurate linking. Her Haute Holiday outfit is from the Winter of 2013. And even though it is 6 years old, it is still perfectly relevant and completely on trend.
So what I have discovered about Taylor in just the short time that I have known of her blog is that she is wife to Chris and momma to three little cuties. She is a southern girl currently residing in Georgia with her beautiful little family. She began her blog in 2013 as a creative space to share the things she loves. She was just dating her husband at the time. And now that she has this wonderful little family, her blog is her outlet to share her favorite things which include her children, her personal style, home decor, her love of flowers and gardening, coffee, skincare, and makeup. I have lots more exploring to do around Little Blonde Book, but I really like everything I have seen so far! You can find Taylor on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
Jeff returns home tonight after his two weeks in Georgia. And quite honestly, I am pooped! With Christmas right around the corner, I think I may take a little blogging break until after the holidays except for December 30 when the Fab 40’s return with a very special post. But I have said that before and then I get all inspired and keep posting. Let’s see if I can manage to actually walk away from it for a few days or a week. If you don’t hear from me until after the holidays, I wish you all many blessings this Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

Is it really that snowy over there? Pfff, I am glad we don’t have that, I hate snow. Lol. But……it does make stunning photos! I love the red that pops up from the lovely outfit! And you wear barets so well!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Nancy! It really does snow that much here. In fact, all the snow melted and then we got more just like it which melted just in time for even more! We had a snowstorm on Wednesday that dumped about 16 inches of snow on us. I am heading to warmer weather tomorrow for a few days before Christmas!

OMG, this is an amazing look, really fabulous. I have never thought about my red tights with white. Come to think of it, I don’t have anything suitable in white. Now I know that must change. More amazing inspiration, Shelbee – thank you!

You have such cool statement pieces in your closet! Looking mighty festive and like you said, an outfit that could still be worn all winter long. Ready for the school break. I actually had a nice mom fail yesterday: we follow the old calendar at church so St Nicholas Day and Christmas (Nativity) are celebrated 13 days after the regular feast days. So yesterday was St. Nicholas day. I usually read his life story with the kids and the boys put their shoes out the night prior and I put little treats in them. Totally forgot about it! I need some R and R, lol!

Thanks so much, Mireille! This is one of my fave outfits ever and I will definitely be wearing it again. I am so sorry about your mom fail! It happens to all of us! We do Naughty Rudolph tricks every night (instead of Elf on the Shelf) and it is a serious struggle for me to stay up past the kids to do it! Thank goodness my husband comes home today and can take it over for the final stretch. He is way more creative with it than I am anyway. I hope you get that much needed rest, my friend, and have a wonderful Christmas!

Nice inspiration! I need to try this more in the New Year. I am often pinning clothes, but don’t pin as many looks or try to recreate. Looks fun! Yours is a great match and I love the winter white dress and coat. Beautiful! I am looking for a cream sweater for winter. I love your brooch, the shape is just perfect with the festive necklace! What a beautiful look Shelbee. You look amazing and I love the contrast between the white and red. I can’t believe you have snow already? It isn’t even winter yet!! I hope you get a bit of an R&R the next few days. I am always inspired that you post often. I need to learn from you and do the same. I hope your weekend is going well so far. I also wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Maureen, thank you so much! We live in a snow belt on Lake Ontario so we generally have snow from September until the beginning of June! But we get the most in January and February. It has actually been quite mild this Fall for snow as it has warmed up in between snowfalls and melted it all. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

It looks so cold there but you manage to just look cool! What a fabulous outfit and I just love the way you’ve tied in the beige shoes with the knit beret and the mittens! You did a stunning job of pulling this one together. I love getting fashion inspiration from others and then trying to recreate them with what I have. Love! the red tights and the jewelry you’ve added, too! You’re right – Jennifer does look like a Hallmark moment in that post. She just looks so pretty and that dress is perfect on her. And I remember making those folded book Christmas trees in the past (but never got to the point of decorating them). Isn’t that just an easy way to fill spots on a bookshelf or mantel?
