Happy Halloween & Link Up On the Edge #169
Halloween for me is a case of “If you can’t beat them, join them.” I was never one to embrace the dressing up and celebrating this “kids’ holiday.” Until I had kids. I could fight no longer and so here we are…I find myself getting festive for every event from themed blog posts to Halloween dances to holiday parties to the day itself.
And now the day has arrived and I figured I would be a witchy woman. So I grabbed my purple velvet dress and dolled it up for the occasion. This morning, the kids had a Halloween parade at school, then I headed off to my ladies’ coffee group. Trick or treat is tonight and then I will be packing it all away and getting festive for the upcoming holidays that I love…Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Wishing you all a very happy and safe Halloween!
And because Halloween and life got a little crazy for me, I didn’t get the chance to write a new post for today. Oops. So I will add the link party here. But first your featured favorites.

Jennifer of Effortlessly Sophisticated shared her French Fall Capsule Wardrobe. I love the chic minimalist style of her choices. If you need some wardrobe inspiration, go check out this post.
My Favorite Fashion Post
Karen of Lady in Violet shared her post Thanksgiving Outfit Idea. I am so drawn to Karen’s deep emerald blouse. The color is so gorgeous for the upcoming holidays. And the snakeskin stilettos make me swoon every time she wears them on her blog. But also pay attention to all the fun little details of Karen’s outfit as well…her jewelry and accessory choices add interest at every level.
My Favorite Non-Fashion Post
Robin of Hello I’m 60ish shared a super informative post, Having a Conversation about Cochlear Implants. Hearing loss was never really an issue that was on my radar. Until recently. After 20 years in the Army and spending lots of time in active war zones, my husband has suffered significant hearing loss at the young age of 38. While hearing aids are the recommended solution for him now, who knows what the situation will be 20 years down the road. This post from Robin was super helpful for me to learn about other options available so we don’t go down this road completely clueless. This is one of the amazing things about blogging, there is so much helpful information out there from people whom I have come to respect and trust.
Feeling witchy on the edge,

Thank you so much, Tamar! Purple velvet always flashes me back to the 90’s when my favorite semi-formal dress was a short skater style dress in purple velvet that I wore to every fancy occasion my freshmen year in college!

I love purple! That dress is fabulous! And you make a gorgeous witchy woman. I don’t know a lot about cochlear implants, but what I have heard sounds very promising. Nonetheless, I am glad your husband doesn’t require them at this juncture. Hearing aid technology is pretty amazing too.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Michelle, thanks so much! I enjoyed being witchy for a day! I am a bit out of my comfort zone acting like a witch! Ha. And yes, I am so glad that Jeff is only needing hearing aids at this point, but the advancements in technology are very reassuring.
