Festive Outfits | December Stylish Monday Link Up
They told me to be festive and I think I heard them say be silly. And somehow I landed in a place that is festively silly, joyfully jubilant, colorfully bold, and ridiculously bouncy. Y’all, I am telling the truth. This outfit literally made me bounce all day…in the way that Tigger does.
“Tiggers don’t jump, they bounce!”
Tigger, Winnie the Pooh
The double pom poms on my head bounced when I bounced, too, and that’s a really fun kind of bounciness that Tigger would appreciate because…
“Bouncing is what Tiggers do best!”
Tigger, ‘What Tiggers Do Best’
While this outfit really has nothing at all to do with Tigger or Winnie the Pooh (but that might make a fun style prompt in the future), it still makes me feel like Tigger because the bounce factor was simply extraordinary. Although I am still unsure where exactly the bounciness is derived from here. Was it in a single piece or the combination of all the pieces together that added this weird levitating power to my outfit while I bounced through the day 6 inches off the ground? (Oh wait, maybe it’s the shoes causing that phenomenon.) I am so uncertain of so many things, but I am very certain that the louder my clothing is, the happier my soul is. It’s soul dressing, as my dear friend Debbie calls it, and it really is good for the soul!
When the prompt was announced for this month’s Stylish Monday theme, I knew I wanted to showcase these red plaid leggings. I scored these cuties on a Torrid clearance sale at the end of last winter and have been anxiously awaiting the perfect opportunity to style them. And what better time than the holidays when it’s really fun to embrace your festive side no matter how silly it may be?
I started with a black handkerchief hem tunic which looked fine by itself, but I need layers this time of year. Lots and lots of layers. I layered my black super cropped turtleneck sweater on top for extra warmth. And then the newest addition to my shoe collection had to come out and play. I bought these white platform boots on the Shoe Dazzle Black Friday sale and I have worn them at least 5 or 6 times already. I absolutely love them. They are incredibly comfortable, too. Very lightweight and easy to bounce about like Tigger. My only complaint is that they have an atrocious chemical odor on them that I am hoping will dissipate soon because it was utterly face-melting atrocious when I took them out of the box. They do get pretty dirty out and about this sludgy time of year, but they clean up super easy with a quick wipe of a damp cloth across them.
I liked the outfit well enough without the coat and hat, but those are equally necessary items for completing an outfit for me in this cold snowy tundra. When I put on my white double pom pom hat, I did let out a squeal of joy in the mirror and then I bounced straight down the steps to seek Jeff’s feedback. As soon as I turned the corner, his whole face broke into a smile and I knew that I had scored with this outfit!
But I still needed a coat because I live in a frozen tundra. I went digging through my coat cave until I spotted my beloved furry star print coat and then I went bouncing back up the stairs to look in the full length mirror. This time I squealed even louder and then I yelled to Jeff, “I didn’t think I couldn’t make this outfit any better but then I just did!” I bounced back down the steps to his handsome face grinning at me from ear to ear, agreeing that this very well might be the happiest outfit in the world.

“I don’t like to spend money specifically on holiday clothes that I can wear only once a year, so see how I take everyday dress clothes and add some sparkle for the Christmas season.”

Andy of Pearls and Pantsuits
“Just give me all the sparkle! (and then some) Nothing says holidays like sequins and sparkle, and a top like this one can take me through New Year’s Eve in shiny style. The sequined sleeves are everything. Click through to read all about my top, and get my style tips for looking fabulous this holiday season!”

Emma of Style Splash
“Festive outfits mean lots of sparkle for me! I have a few sequin skirts and jackets, but recently I bought these fabulous trousers on eBay. The sequins are flippy – silver one way and multi-coloured the other. I’ve teamed them with a pink bow top that reminds me of a Christmas present…I’m definitely getting into the festive spirit!”

Joy of Joyous Musings
“A little sparkle for the holidays! I subdued it with a black wool turtleneck. I added a statement necklace and rockstud heels to complete the look. Check out my friends’ looks to see how they styled holiday dressy looks!

Julie of Fashion Trends and Friends
“This is your time to sparkle and shine! I don’t need much reason to add on the bling, glitz and glam! This is right up my extra loving alley! Is there such a thing as too much or too many rhinestones, glitter and sequins?! I think NOT! Time to get your HOLIDAY SPARKLE on friends!”

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
“Here in the Netherlands we have a second Christmas day, and of course Christmas Eve, so that’s three outfits! I will definitely wear a tulle skirt! I think I will wear this polka dot one and my denim blue one. But it all depends on my mood! Might become something totally different!”
Nancy
Nicole of High Latitude Style
“Our Christmas season started with a Christmas concert of the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra. The dress code was festive Fairbanks Formal. It means you can wear an evening gown. So I did with a puffer vest over the gown. Independent from the aforementioned dress code, for me festive attire means evening wear. Sequins, velvet, tulle, lace, silver or gold sandals, big costume jewelry, bold jewel colors or black. However, given the cold weather of Interior Alaska, I have to be creative to stay warm. Leggings under an evening gown, for instance.”
Nicole
Suzanne of Ask Suzanne Bell
“Be it a festive holiday party or a girls’ night out, your evening will start off more relaxed if you have a few outfits planned out ahead of time. Looking for some inspiration? Today, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite holiday outfits (current and past) to hopefully inspire you to shop your closet, and sparkle and shine a little brighter this holiday season.”
Suzanne
And me!
“For some festive holiday spirit, I pulled together big bold prints for what is probably my happiest outfit ever. I could not stop smiling while wearing this combination of red plaid and giant stars with double pom poms on my head.”

Oh, my gosh, Shelbee! I love Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, and all of their buddies. I decorated my classroom in a Pooh theme for many years! And, you are right! This has to be the happiest, most joyous outfit ever! I’m sitting here with the dopiest smile on my face just because you can see the happy oozing out of you!!! Love, love, love it!!

Oh my goodness, Marsha, now I have a big dopey smile on my face reading this comment! You are so sweet. I really dig your energy! I love that you had a Winnie the Pooh theme in your classroom. I always find so many great parallels to real life in Pooh stories. We all know someone who is much like each character…there are Eyeores and Tiggers and Piglets and Poohs all around us!

Thanks so much, Jess! If I could ever get out of my laziness, I have so many ideas for blog posts that require too much photography. I would love to share my entire shoe collection. It is quite extensive. I also want to share all of my kimonos…I have like 60 of them. But it is sooooo much work to get it all together! Maybe one of these snow days I will get bored enough and start taking pictures! I hope you have a lovely week ahead and a very Merry Christmas, my friend1
