Dressing for work in an office can be a bit of a minefield. Even if your company’s dress code states that smart-casual is completely acceptable work wear, it can still be fairly difficult to figure out exactly what that means. Are jeans appropriate? Would wearing a tailored suit be too formal?

If you are struggling to create work outfits each day, below are some stylish ideas that should help you create a great office look with ease.

Cover Your Tattoos

Depending on your employer and the nature of your business, it may be important to conceal any visible tattoos. Even though the world of work is a much more progressive place right now, tattoos are often still seen as quite unprofessional by many people. So, if necessary, you may want to consider long sleeves and pants to cover any tattoos. If you have tattoos in areas that are difficult to cover up and you have been considering removing them, you can always look into laser tattoo removal. This procedure removes the tattoo completely so you won’t have to worry about covering it up ever again.

Go for More Conservative Jewelry

Again, depending on your work environment, there generally is no need to come off as pretentious in the office because of your clothing choices. However, it is important to still allow your outfit to be an accurate reflection of your personality. Sticking with more conservative jewelry that isn’t too eye-catching may be a more logical choice for office wear. Bold statement pieces are fantastic for going out though! When it comes to jewelry for the office, simpler and more understated is often better. Of course, if you wear an engagement or wedding ring, those are always acceptable.

Understated Makeup

As well as opting for subdued jewelry choices, keeping your makeup understated for a day time office look is also important. You don’t necessarily want to appear as if you are heading out for a night on the town when you are heading to your office for the day. Your basic foundation, a neutral eyeshadow, soft blushes, and a red lip are always classic and professional. Of course, if you don’t want to wear any makeup, your work environment should not make you feel like it is a necessity.

Consider a Two Piece Suit

If you get overwhelmed in the morning digging in your closet for something to wear, a two piece suit is a great staple to reach for with ease of styling. Maybe even invest in a few classic suits that can be mixed and matched with different tops and shoes. Depending on your preference, skirt suits and pants suits are great options to provide a multitude of mixing and matching ideas. Add colors and prints with your tops or other accessories. Suits are perfect for the office as they can be dressed up or down to meet the dress code of your particular office. You will look put together and still be comfortable all day long.

Stick with Flats

If you are on your feet quite a bit in the office, it may be best to stick to wearing flat shoes. If you wear high heels all day every day, your feet will certainly be aching and could even have a few blisters by the time Friday rolls around. Ballerina flats are a really stylish choice that are usually very comfortable. And they will work particularly well with a two piece suit. Of course, if you are comfortable in heels all day long, then by all means, wear them.

These are just a few tips to help you style your work outfits in a professional way with ease. Once you have added the perfect classic work wear staples to your wardrobe, you should never have to feel like you have nothing to wear again. But remember, always be true to yourself and wear what makes you feel great!

What kind of clothing does your work place require? Maybe you work in a more casual environment where jeans are fine. For me, I still like to look put together in my jeans outfits by adding tailored pieces and fabulous shoes.
