Budget Friendly Boots for Finicky Frozen Feet

What do you call boots that are always ready for winter?

Snow problem!

It is very snowy where I live so I was thrilled to join Jodie and Mireille in a collaboration with Online Shoe Deals. Knowing how much shoe lovers appreciate a bargain, Drew Shoe Corporation has collected permanently marked down styles from their various high quality footwear brands and are offering them at deeply discounted prices for budget shoppers.

All of the footwear by these brands are new with the discounted prices ranging from $12.77 to $79.77. They also all come in extended sizes and widths but availability may be limited because these are discontinued styles. I actually appreciate purchasing discontinued styles because I know that they won’t be readily available in the future which helps me to maintain the unique quality of my eclectic wardrobe.

Because the footwear styles from Online Shoe Deals are all discontinued and deeply discounted, all sales are final. You cannot return or exchange so be sure to verify the correct size and width for your feet. For ease in your shopping experience, you can use the Shoe Finder tab to filter your search by size, width, color, gender, or foot condition.

I was able to choose two pairs of shoes to try out in exchange for this review. Since it is winter and a very snowy one for me, I began my search in “Boots for Women” and I didn’t have to search any further after that because I found two pairs of super cozy boots perfect for my personal style, my frozen climate, and my finicky feet.

Furry

(Reg price: $89.95 / Sale price: $29.77)

The first style I chose is appropriately called Furry and is available in black, brown, and wine microsuede. Furry comes in sizes ranging from 6 to 13 in both medium and wide widths. I ordered the wine microsuede in my regular size 10, medium width.

When I saw them in person, I was really pleased with the gorgeous wine color, the adorable furry trim, the gold buttons, and the zipper detail. And then I put my feet inside. Oh. My. Goodness. I actually exclaimed aloud, “What sweet heaven is this on my feet?” Seriously, they are incredibly soft and supportive for cold achy feet. They are also extra warm which is perfect for this arctic tundra I call home. After 50 years of traveling through life on these old feet, they have gotten very sensitive and extra finicky which requires me to choose my footwear much more carefully than I once did. My days in stiletto heels and flat strappy sandals are long gone. My feet desire comfort, support, warmth, and a heel no higher than 2 inches. These Furries met all of my expectations.

Except one. They seem to run a little on the narrower side of medium width. They are too tight if I wear my favorite heavy wooly winter socks so I may have been better off ordering the wide width. But since there are no returns or exchanges, I just have to wear thinner socks and then they are fine. In fact, they were perfect with a pair of tights!

For their first public jaunt, I wore my Furries to my husband’s work holiday party two weeks ago. I was really happy that I had these boots for this special occasion because I needed to dress up but I also needed practical footwear for the ice and snow. These boots fulfilled all of my needs for this occasion. They are very vibrant and ever so pretty, they are extra warm and comfortable, and they have flat rubber soles which keep me safer on the icy walkways. My feet and I were silently giggling as I watched all of the other women tiptoeing precariously over the ice covered parking lot in their stiletto heels. Silly women. They should have ordered some cute boots from Online Shoe Deals!

Getting in party mode, I styled my Furries with one of my favorite thrifted dresses, this black ribbed sweater knit dress. I added wine colored tights and gloves with furry trim to coordinate with my boots and then I topped it all off with my wine colored robe that I upcycled from an ugly ill-fitting kaftan. I accessorized with gold and pearly jewelry to complement the regal gold print on my robe and to keep the outfit feeling festive. My old fur trimmed black coat has been my dressier winter go-to outerwear for the last 30 years and it always works well with my black floppy hat.

I actually did not wear the hat to the party because the wind was wicked that night. It would have stolen my hat and I like my floppy hats too much to chance losing them to the wind. I added a long skinny scarf for the party as well because it made me feel even more royal. Below is a photo of Jeff and me as we were getting ready to leave for the party. And the next one was taken during trivia when I was sitting beside Jeff’s boss…a.k.a. The Elf. Jeff captioned that photo “The Queen and the Jester.” Ha.

Josie

Reg price: $220.00 / Sale price:  $59.77

The second pair of boots I chose are called Josie. They are available in brown and black leather with sizes ranging from 6 to 13 in medium, wide, and double wide widths. I also ordered these in my regular size 10, medium width. These fit much more comfortably in the width so I would say they are pretty true to size. However, they also feel snug with my heaviest wooly socks. Maybe it’s a sock problem and not a boot problem! Actually, it really is snow problem because the boots are lined with super cozy sherpa that I could probably wear no socks at all and still have warm feet. These boots also have a really supportive inside that feels like a healing hug for my weary feet.

I first styled these sherpa lined cuties with black leggings and I kind of hated the way it looked. So I switched to something a bit more festive for the holiday season. My bright red tights stand out in the snow, drawing the eye to my snazzy feet.

To my red tights and cozy boots, I added my red plaid mini skirt, a black turtleneck, and an old black and white plaid bomber jacket. Continuing with my festive color palette, I added my red newsboy cap, sherpa lined mittens, and some simple silver jewelry.

I really liked the way this outfit came together on a whim. However, it is not weather appropriate. My legs were freezing. But happily, my feet were not!

Since the outdoor snowy photos of the black boots have an awful glare making it impossible to see any details, below is a mini indoor boot shoot to see the lovely details up close.

Aren’t they so stinking adorable?
