How to Stand Out with Your Personal Style
I think most of us would agree that when we get dressed we want to feel and look great. Getting dressed is something that most of us do on a daily basis and we want our appearances to accurately reflect our personalities and tastes. Of course, life is a series of good days and bad days and how we feel in our clothing each day is just one small part of that roller coaster journey. There are those days when magic happens in your closet and the most beautiful outfits are created from that space. But there are also those days when we may lack the confidence to wear what…

Road Trip to Jurassic Quest & Link Up On the Edge #255
We went on a little family road trip last weekend. On Saturday we drove to Buffalo, New York, to visit Jurassic Quest, the world’s largest and most popular dinosaur attraction which features over 80 true to life size dinosaurs. The drive to Buffalo takes about 3 1/2 hours but we left early enough to allow time to stop for a nice big sit down lunch, check into our hotel, and do a photoshoot for my Magnificent 8 collaboration before heading to the Jurassic location for our 40 minute tour. But first things first, I needed a photoshoot of my road tripping outfit and the first rest stop seemed like the…

The Magnificent 8 Found Inspiration in Magazines
Back in April, I shared an outfit that was inspired by a photoshoot in the January 2021 edition of InStyle Magazine after seeing Jodie’s post where Lesley recreated an outfit inspired by a Fendi ad in the March 2021 edition of InStyle Magazine. It was at this time that Jodie suggested a magazine ad as our style prompt for this quarter’s Magnificent 8. We all agreed that this would be a super fun challenge and now here we are with our outfits inspired by something we found in a magazine. I have free subscriptions to InStyle and Essence Magazines that I got from ordering shoes from Shoe Dazzle and JustFab.…

The Fab 40’s are Inspired by Air
“There is a muscular energy in sunlight corresponding to the spiritual energy of wind.” Annie Dillard “What light is to the eyes – what air is to the lungs – what love is to the heart, liberty is to the soul of man.” Robert Green Ingersoll “By the time we are women, fear is as familiar to us as air; it is our element. We live in it, we inhale it, we exhale it, and most of the time we do not even notice it.” Andrea Dworkin I am back with the beautiful ladies of The Fab 40’s as we finish out the last of our element themes. Affirmations for Love and Compassion & Link Up On the Edge #254
I am continuing with my yoga affirmations, this time focusing on the Heart Chakra and Affirmations for Love and Compassion. I have previously shared Affirmations for Confidence and Self Esteem (the Solar Plexus Chakra) and Affirmations for Creativity and Sensuality (the Sacral Chakra). I have been following along with Yoga with Kassandra on Youtube and really focusing on her chakra and shadow work. Many of her yin yoga practices also incorporate some affirmation work as well which I may share at a later time after I finish all seven chakras. I have not been sharing these in any particular order as I turn to these practices with a focus on…

The Thrifty Six in Creative Cover Ups
For this month’s thrifty prompt, Lucy originally chose kimonos and kaftans but after some discussion amongst the group, we decided to broaden the theme to include any type of cover up piece that could be layered on top of an outfit. And so we ultimately settled on Creative Cover Ups. If you have been visiting my blog for even a short amount of time, you might be aware of my great fondness for kimonos. I have a collection of these dramatic topper pieces that is nearing 100 if I include my ponchos and ruanas and other toppers as well. Now you might be wondering what the heck is the difference…
