A New Style To Try for the New Year & Your Own Twist Link Up #16
Your Own Twist is a monthly series hosted by Monica of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart and myself where we showcase our own interpretations of a chosen style theme. We share the theme with you ahead of time in case you are interested in joining us. You can see the upcoming themes below if you would like to create your own post around the theme and share it with us in the link party at the end of the post. This month’s theme was to try a new style for the new year. While the trend I chose is not so new, it is one that I haven’t tried in, oh about, 25 years.…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Sweaters/Jumpers
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book! Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for…

A Kindness Conundrum & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #156
We all know what kindness is, what it means, and can usually recognize it when it happens. At its most basic definition, kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, or considerate. But I have recently stumbled upon quite the conundrum of kindness. Certain things that people do or say with the appearance of kindness, but the result is irritating the hell out of me. In this world of social media, I suppose that messages can absolutely be lost in translation. We have only words typed on a screen without seeing a person’s face, hearing the tone of their voice or the inflections they use when delivering the message. One…

When Radical Ralphie is Just Not Having It
The child is stubborn. More stubborn than I ever thought possible. I have been accused of being the same way. But this kid wins if it were an actual competition. You know those personality tests that give a brief description of who you are based on the first animal you see in a picture? We did this one the other day and I had to laugh at the description for the animal that Ralphie saw first. “You are a natural-born leader. You naturally know how to convince people to follow you to achieve a common goal, but sometimes you can have a tendency to be dominant and your power can get a bit overwhelming. You are not afraid of any…

The Sunday Afternoon Quarterback #18: LSU vs. Clemson-Who Will Win the National Championship?
Tomorrow, January 13, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. EST the College Football National Champions will be determined at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. The number 1 ranked Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers will face off against the number 3 ranked Clemson University Tigers. Which cats will win this final game of the college football season? Does LSU have somewhat of a home field advantage simply because they are playing in their home state? Or does Clemson have the upper hand as the reigning defending national champions? The college football experts seem divided on the issue. Based on overall performance this season, the two teams appear to be equally matched.…

Friday Favorites 1 & Link Up On the Edge #178
I have never written a Friday Favorites post before. But since I am kind of exhausted from all the self reflection that I have been engaged in recently, I figured taking a break from such intensity and sharing some fun stuff instead was in order. Frankly, I am also just kind of tired from feeling all dredged down in the icky side of life and you may be sick of hearing about it. So let’s keep it light to kick off the weekend! I am sure you are all tired of reading about everyone’s new year’s resolutions, intentions, and goals or lack thereof. I shared some of my intentions last…

Inspired by a 7 Year Old: Buffalo Plaid Dress
You might be thinking I’m a little bit crazy. And I can’t deny the accuracy of those types of thoughts. I am a little bit crazy, somewhat off kilter, marching to the beat of my very own out-of-tune songs. What rational thinking mature adult would take outfit inspiration from a mere child? Well, this adult. Although I probably cannot confidently state that I am mature or rational thinking. Most times I am neither. Perhaps that is the reason that I can see an outfit styled by a 7 year old and think, “This is fantastic and I want to wear it, too.” And when something like this happens, inspiration strikes,…

Spam: Stop the Madness
Spam. We are all familiar with it. I am not talking about the processed canned meat. Although I think we are all probably familiar with that as well. I guess I am familiar with it to the extent that I know what it is. I don’t think I have ever purchased it or allowed it to cross my lips. Gag. This post is about the other kind of spam. I am very familiar with the other type of spam. The unsolicited messages that come unwanted to us in our email inboxes, our website comment sections, our social media direct messaging platforms. This type of spam also makes me gag a…

Is it Possible to Run Out of Kindness? & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #155
When I began this #SpreadTheKindness Link Up way back in November of 2016, I was full of fire and passion about a mission that was near to my heart. I wanted to take a stand against negativity and toxicity that exists in the world around us. I wanted to be kind to everyone for the sole purpose of just being kind. I wanted to lead by example and teach my children the importance of kindness. I wanted to show that everyone deserves to be on the receiving end of kindness just because we are all humans struggling through the irony that is being human. In an effort to make the…

Radical Ralphie Styling Seersucker and Plaid
Radical Ralphie took a nice long blogging break with me, of course, since I am the one who does most of the blogging work anyway! I don’t think he was too excited to get back to it either as convincing him to get dressed for photos this weekend resulted in some bribery. And after 25 quick photos were snapped, he abruptly declared, “Okay. I’m done.” I think I was more excited than he was to share this adorable combination of seersucker and plaid. I know it’s not really seersucker season quite yet, but when I spotted this darling blazer in Classy Kids Consignment Shop, I knew my little fashion blogging…
