What to Wear to a Vintage Wedding with Zaful
I have recently reviewed a few different pieces from Zaful and I have to say that I am quickly falling in love with the styles they have to offer. In my last post, I talked about how much I am fascinated by vintage styles of late. When I was asked to choose another item from Zaful to review, I simply could not resist this adorable Green Vintage Sleeveless Polka Dot Dress . When I saw it, I immediately thought, “This would be perfect to wear to a vintage wedding.” So, if someone is having a vintage wedding this Spring, do feel free to send me an invitation. I have the perfect dress to wear!
*Disclosure: This dress, hat, and necklace were provided to me for review. All opinions and thoughts are completely my own.
I also chose some fabulous accessories from Zaful that coordinated perfectly with this lovely dress! The Black Lace Veil Cocktail Hat is the stuff that vintage dreams are made of! I seriously feel like a superstar from the era of Old Hollywood wearing this fascinator style headpiece! It is less of a hat and more of a headband making it so easy to style. With a little primping of the veil, I felt that same type of throw back glamour that Emma Stone must have felt getting dressed for her role in La La Land! To complete the look, I added this delicate Faux Pearl Double Layered Wedding Jewelry Necklace. With a little help from some old and new favorites already in my closet, I was ready to go!
Now to find the perfect location for shooting a vintage-inspired wedding guest dress! There is an abandoned gas station just down the road from my house that I have had my eye on for months now as the perfect backdrop for blog photos. So Amy and I headed there for some pictures.
On the way there, we detoured in search of some vintage-inspired props. We didn’t find much, but we did spot the Drive-In movie theater and figured this dress would be spectacular there! So we pulled over to the side of the road to snap a few photographs. The entrance was chained off so we couldn’t drive all the way in. The drive-in, after all, is closed until Sring (The P was lost in translation, I suppose).
One subtle detail…I really, really wanted pantyhose with a seam up the back for this outfit. But alas, I could find none (except online which would not arrive in time for our photoshoot). To add insult to injury, the salesgirl in Victoria’s Secret did not even know what hosiery is when I asked if they carried any in the store. Yes, yes, I understand that I am old. But to my knowledge, there is not a more up-to-date term for the category of apparel that includes stockings, pantyhose, socks, and thigh highs. Or is there? In any event, no seamed pantyhose were to be found, so I settled for some fishnet thigh highs.
And what modern day middle-aged woman doesn’t read The Daring Book for Girls while standing at an abandoned gas station waiting to attend a fictional vintage wedding? I’m just wondering…I’m not the only one, am I?

Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

And funny thing, I’m wearing my fishnets today in real life! I do they they are fun to wear (and they don’t snag as easily either!!)

Thanks so much, Jodie! This was probably the most fun we had doing a photo shoot. Next step…getting an actual camera and stop using my iPhone. Although, another very dear friend of mine is sending me a new (used) camera this week. She is trying to make me into a legitimate blogger! And yes, fishnets are amazing! I just really wanted seamed hose…but seamed fishnets would be even better!

Gorgeous pick – love the hat too. And really, Vic Secret didn’t know “hosiery”? They must be hiring toddlers! xox

Love the outfit, and that Victoria Secrets salesperson needs some training if she doesn’t know what hosiery is.

Thanks so much, Audrey! I know, isn’t that ridiculous that a lingerie salesperson doesn’t know the word hosiery?! I don’t care how young she was!

Oh my gosh, this dress is so amazing!! I used to be really into vintage fashion and only ever wore seamed stockings – I was young and had money, lol. These days I buy tights in those bulk packs of like 10 at a time! xD
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Jess, thanks so much! I am really loving the vintage feel lately. I hear you though on the tights in bulk! I actually was just about to buy some colorful tights in bulk. I definitely wear those more than sexy stockings these days!
