Weekend Wish List: 50 Swoon-Worthy Kimonos
So it’s no secret that I am obsessed with kimonos. They are a favorite summer staple for me and although I already have amassed quite the collection, I am always on the look out for new ones. If you missed yesterday’s post, I shared my favorite summer outfit formula there which includes a kimono, of course. Based on the comments, it seems there are lots of kimono-loving fashionista friends out there. So I decided to search the internet for some eye-catching attention-grabbing kimonos to share with you all today.

Susan, I love both of these! So I have a little styling trick for you if you do get the sleeveless one. The way they are made is basically a long rectangle with arm holes. So you can wear them as scarves. But even more interesting…if you flip it upside and inside out, put your arms through it, and let the longer top part fold over, it makes the cutest little shrug type vest with a waterfall front. I will try to find a way to show it!

Oh dear! Your styling tip threw me right over that edge, Shelbee. In spite of the piteous groaning of my bank account, I went ahead and ordered the sleeveless kimono, which will arrive this Thursday. It IS red, white and blue, and one wishes to demonstrate patriotism, after all. Even if it clashes with our orange president, just doing my bit.
Now, I’d like to pick your brain a bit further. Do you think a pink lace kimono layered over a floral slip dress would be a suitable outfit for attending a wedding?

Susan, that is great that you ordered that fun patriotic piece…just in time for the summer holidays…even though it does clash with our orange president! Hahahaha. And yes, absolutely yes, to a pink lace kimono over a floral slip dress! Completely appropriate for a summer wedding! As long as it is not a super formal black tie event…in which case, a more formal gown would be better…but any dress code just a shade more casual than black tie…and that sounds like the perfect ensemble! I would love to see the outfit!
