Wednesday’s Quote of the Week: It’s Written in the Stars with Rosegal
I am totally obsessed with all things celestial right now. Perhaps it is the reinterpreting of my relationship with the universe that is causing this infatuation with astral entities. I am feeling connected to the heavens and the earth more deeply than I ever have before. I am paying more attention, listening more carefully, and following the signs with a faith that I have never before known. I am confident that certain things in our lives are written in the stars and so I find myself looking up and out in order to find the answers that are already inside. Because we all are connected to this universal energy just like the constellations on my dress!
“I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars.”
Og Mandino
I wanted to write a deep philosophical post on this topic to go with my fun new constellation dress from Rosegal, but alas my children are not permitting me to be the calm, level headed mother that I always imagined I would be. Nope. Not at all. Right now, I am about to bang my own head off the wall in frustration at the constant fighting and neediness that is being exhibited by my children every 3.5 minutes. So before I totally lose it (whatever it may be, my mind, my sensibilities, my motivation, my sanity), I am just going to surrender to the chaos right now and share the words of others…because I simply cannot formulate words of my own. Hopefully, they will bring a sense of calm to me as well as to all of you.
Before I get on with the quotes, I first have to share about this dress! I love the swing style and the lightweight fabric is perfect for summer but it will also be great for layering in the fall. Check out the Rosegal Deals Sale for lots of whimsical wardrobe pieces. Use code RGT20 at checkout for additional savings off your order from now until December 31, 2019.
And now enjoy some quotes about the stars and destiny and fate and all that thought provoking stuff.
“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves.”
William Shakespeare
“There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be…”
John Lennon
“The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.”
Stephen Hawking
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
Harriet Tubman
“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.”
Mother Teresa
“To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter… to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring – these are some of the rewards of the simple life.”
John Burroughs
“There are no wrong turnings. Only paths we had not known we were meant to walk.”
Guy Gavriel Kay, Tigana
“Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.”
Saint Augustine
“Sometimes the dreams that come true are the dreams you never even knew you had.”
Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones
“At night, when the sky is full of stars and the sea is still you get the wonderful sensation that you are floating in space.”
Natalie Wood
“Some things are destined to be — it just takes us a couple of tries
J.R. Ward, Lover Mine
to get there.”
“You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it’s like to be up there amongst the stars. And I always look up at the moon and see it as the single most romantic place within the cosmos.”
Tom Hanks
“Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”
William Jennings Bryan
“If there were no night, we would not appreciate the day, nor could we see the stars and the vastness of the heavens. We must partake of the bitter with the sweet. There is a divine purpose in the adversities we encounter every day. They prepare, they purge, they purify, and thus they bless.”
James E. Faust
“Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?”
Garth Nix, Sabriel
“I love the stars.
Natsuki Takaya
Because they can’t say anything.
I love the stars.
Because they do not judge anyone.”
“Each star is a mirror reflecting the truth inside you.“
Aberjhani
“What we call our destiny is truly our character and that character can be altered. The knowledge that we are responsible for our actions and attitudes does not need to be discouraging, because it also means that we are free to change this destiny. One is not in bondage to the past, which has shaped our feelings, to race, inheritance, background. All this can be altered if we have the courage to examine how it formed us. We can alter the chemistry provided we have the courage to dissect the elements.”
Anais Nin, The Diary of Anaïs Nin, Vol. 1: 1931-1934
Do you believe that our destinies are all written in the stars? Or do we have some control over them? Is it a combination of what we believe, what has already been decided, and what we need to do to get ourselves to the places we are supposed to be?
Keeping it on the edge,

That’s a gorgeous dress – perfect for you! Did you go out and find the purple booties and tights to go with it or did you already have those? I love the way you’ve paired them up for a perfect look. I really enjoyed reading the quotes. Do I believe our lives are pre-destined? Hmmmm. Yes and No. Maybe?

Ruth, thanks so much for the kind compliments and your thoughts about destiny! I am right there with you…a little yes and a little no. And actually, I did have both the booties and the tights already. The purples are all different shades but the dress has sort of an ombre effect so they seemed to work out pretty well!

WOW this post makes you think so much. It is beautiful, deep and thought-provoking, just like the thought you put behind that gorgeous dark-colored midnight purple-blue outfit. I love that costelation dress so much and I might get it myself with the discount code, how much would it be?! I also love the similar colors you paired it with. These midnight jewel shades are stunning and I love this outfit as an early Fall option look. It will be featured next week on THURSDAY MODA, Shelbee.
P.S. Love love all the quotes and thoughts you included in this post, so many good ones here!

Aw, Ada, thanks so much! You know I love to share thought provoking quotes every once in a while! Especially when I can’t seem to find my own words. I am so happy with the colors on this dress, too! It is going to perfect for fall with heavier layers, too. It’s only $15.99 right now, so with the discount code (I think it’s for 15% off), it would only be like $13. You should totally get it! And thanks so much for the feature, my friend! I will be sure to stop by and check it out. Have a great weekend!

You are fantastic. I know how difficult it is to write a post when your children are around. It is close to impossible. And you did it! I like the quotes. The dress is lovely, with an interesting print. I love the boots! Thank you for sharing your post with My Red Carpet.

Thanks so much, Anna! It’s funny when I try to write in the absolute quiet with no interruptions, I sometimes find that equally difficult! I am so used to having the noise of a busy house in the background! But as long as the kids are just playing and not disrupting me, I can be quite productive. It’s when they get so darn needy and fight with each other that I can’t work!
