A Letter to Myself at 18 Years Old & Link Up On the Edge #53
Recently, I was asked to participate in an initiative run by Earnest which focuses on encouraging and motivating recent high school and college graduates. It was suggested to me that this would be a great opportunity for me to reminisce about those years of life. It is interesting that this request came to me when it did as I am currently struggling with the concept of lost memories. I understand that memories fade with age, but it is also quite common for memories to be lost due to chemical reactions that occur in a Bipolar brain. If you are a regular follower of my blog, you know that I have…

The White Screen of Death During Moving Week!
My entire life is currently in boxes and we are slowly moving them across town to our new house. In the midst of the chaos, I discovered that my website was completely down…I was experiencing the WordPress White Screen of Death. But it is up and running again thanks to the BlueHost support team. However, I have to get back to moving and unpacking boxes so we are settled when the children arrive back home on Friday. Many thanks to Gramma and Pap for watching them all week. Additional thanks to Amy and Alex for picking the kids up in Pennsylvania and bringing them home. I absolutely hate moving and…

A Tribute for Grace Liang
Photo Source I learned last night that an amazing member our blogging community has suffered a tragic loss. Grace Liang’s husband, Robert, has lost his battle with cancer. When I read her Facebook post, my heart and my eyes welled up with so much sadness for Grace. So today I wanted to write a post dedicated to Grace and to everyone who has felt the heart-wrenching effects of cancer. Photo Source For those of you don’t know her, Grace is the beautiful, stylish, creative genius behind the blog Color and Grace. Since I began blogging and following Grace’s story, I have learned that she is kind, she is gentle, she…

A Photo Journal of My Recent Trip to Los Angeles
*This is an extremely photo-heavy post. And quite long in general. Feel free to scroll as slowly or as quickly as you’d like! Or skip altogether. I have been planning to write this post for the past week since I arrived back home from my trip to Los Angeles last weekend. After traveling all day last Sunday, I arrived home past midnight on Monday morning. I spent Monday catching up on collaborative blog posts that I had already committed to. Tuesday, I ran errands all day catching up on all of the other life things that had been neglected while I was away. And Wednesday night, an awful stomach bug…

What to Wear (and Cook) for a College Football Saturday Celebration
Labor Day weekend marked the kick off of College Football Season. In my house, we don’t watch very much professional football (unless that is the only football on television), but we do get a tiny bit excited about college football. For my husband, he was raised on college football and has been a Penn State fan for as long as he can remember. For me, I appreciate college athletics much more than I do professional sports. Perhaps because I spent most of my college career as a student-athlete, I understand the sacrifices and crazy time management skills required to be a successful student-athlete. So I appreciate the world of college…

Shelbee on the Edge Turns One and My Evolution of Style
August 24 marks the first blogiversary of Shelbee on the Edge! And I could not have made it this long without all of the wonderful support I have received from my friends and family as well as members of this fabulous blogging community! A special thanks goes out to my sister as this whole blogging idea was her brainchild not mine. And it took much prompting on her part and some actual yelling at me to “Just do it!” So thank you, sis, your encouragement and continuous support means the world to me! I must thank my husband and children who have been so patient and tolerant of the hours…

Do You Think I Have a Scarf Problem?
Back in May, I wrote a post about scarves being my signature accessory (you can read that post here). A few weeks ago, I realized that “scarves are my thing” might be a bit of an understatement. It might actually be a problem. An obsession, perhaps. An addiction, maybe. Not only can I not pass by any scarf with a gorgeous, brilliant, interesting, or unique print…but I often feel this compulsion to seek them out. If you have been reading my blog, you know, however, that I like to find a great deal and then brag about it. So a few weeks ago, I headed to my local Salvation Army…

My Old Navy Rewards Haul and A Link Up
I challenged myself this week to do something I have never accomplished before! I had a $15 rewards certificate for Old Navy and I wanted to go into the store and spend as close to that $15 as I could. In the past, if had rewards I would inevitably spend hundreds of dollars beyond the rewards amount. That makes my rewards much more rewarding to Old Navy then it does to me! This time the rewards were about me and what I could score…essentially for free! My method: I went straight to the clearance section without allowing my eyes to stray and see all of the lovely new items on…

Happy Thanksgiving
I decided to take a blogging break this week…because, well, the struggle IS real. The sad thing is we are not even doing much for Thanksgiving, but yet I started feeling totally overwhelmed this week. And unmotivated. And uninspired. And maybe even a tad bit lazy. So I granted myself a blogging vacation. Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful and fulfilling Thanksgiving! Remember to be thankful for all of the wonderful gifts in your life…no matter how small they may be. I know I am immensely grateful for the very special people in my life, my family, and my friends, mostly my husband and my children. And coffee. I am extremely…
