Too Much Tequila, A Tantalizing Tunic, and Finding My People

Yesterday, we had some friends come over for an afternoon/evening of great food, delicious drinks, and a lot of laughs. Apparently, by the end of the night, I was drucking funk which is actually quite humorous since I am not much of a drinker at all. But these drinks! I found this recipe for the Dialexa cocktail in the June 2016 issue of Redbook. We decided to just make an entire pitcher of this heavenly concoction! Actually, we made two pitchers…and drank it all.

To make this cocktail by the pitcher, we just followed the same ratios but on a grander scale. We muddled a bunch of pineapple and watermelon in the bottom of the pitcher, then added 1 part peach liqueur, 1 1/2 parts gold tequila, and 1 part cranberry juice. Approximating…it was a bottle of tequila, 1/2 bottle of peach liqueur, 1/2 bottle of cranberry juice, and about 1 cup of orange juice. Pour through a strainer over ice and serve. After we finished that pitcher, we just repeated the recipe using the same fruit that was at the bottom. I did not have fresh rosemary, so we just left that out. It was a fabulous drink nonetheless evidenced by the fact that 6 people finished both pitchers! (Yes, that would be an entire bottle of peach liqueur and two entire bottles of tequila!)

And I realized that I had found “my people.” You know, the people you can be 100% genuinely and sincerely yourself with no fear or shame. It’s a great feeling when this dynamic occurs!
So thank you to my good friends for an amazing night! I look forward to many more fabulously fun evenings!

What I wore…it was about a million degrees yesterday and humid. After much drinking, it felt to be about 2 million degrees. I needed to stay cool, so I chose this Simply Vera Vera Wang sleeveless printed tunic that I picked up on sale last year. I like how long the tunic is…almost long enough to be a dress, but not quite, so I added a pair of lace trim denim shorts which barely peeked out. And flat sandals were the only option as I was hosting this party and spent a lot of time on my feet preparing food. The very cool thing about this tunic is that my husband found it quite tantalizing! So a win there, too! Too much tequila and a tantalizing tunic make for a terrific time! (How did you like that alliteration?!)

Have you found your people yet? Who are they and where did you find them? What do you when you get together with your people?

Feeling happy on the edge,

Shelbee
