The Stuff My Dreams Are Made Of: Ulivary Kimono Robe & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #685

If you know me even a tiny little bit, you are probably aware of my passion for kimonos and robes. It is a love affair that began during my teenage years and has never once wavered in more than three decades. I have always had a collection of robes, kimonos, dusters, and long floaty garments occupying premium space in my closet.

As I have settled into my true midlife soul style, I find myself most comfortable and feeling most like myself when I am wearing a beautiful statement-making long floaty thing whether it’s a coat, a kimono, a long cardigan, a robe, a ruana, a poncho, or a dress worn as a duster. But of all the long floaty things that exist, kimono style robes are my absolute favorite.

Ulivary is a new brand specializing in gorgeous kimono robes with an intriguing East meets West aesthetic. The brand was founded in 2022 by two forward thinking women who wanted to create an authentic eastern design aesthetic that could be shared with the world. In an attempt to bridge the East and the West, co-founders Sharon and Rachel put their dreams into action to create something truly special.

When I was asked if I would be interested in reviewing a few ladies long robes from Ulivary, I didn’t hesitate for a moment to agree. I did, in fact, use the phrase “dream collaboration” in my response. And once I received my robes, I realized they truly are the stuff my dreams are made of.

I was able to choose three robes for review. I will share the other two on the next two Fridays. They came handsomely packaged with a beautiful thank you card enclosed. When I slid the first robe out of the tissue paper, I was stunned by the incredible softness of the silky fabric. All Ulivary products are constructed from high quality polyester charmeuse that is super soft, lightweight, and breathable with a texture very similar to natural silk.

The prints on each garment are exquisite with an abundance of florals, leopards, birds, and other stunning eastern inspired designs in their collections. I really struggled to choose just three so I sent them a list of eight and asked them to surprise me with whatever three they wanted to send.

Having recently developed a great love for the color teal and other related hues, I began my shopping experience by looking for a blue kimono. My list of eight kimono robes included three blue ones.

The robe I received is the Garden Crane Blue Kimono Robe. It is a delicious shade of teal with an elegant hand-painted design featuring cranes and Asian-inspired garden florals. The rich deep colors and the intricate print have the ability to transport you into a mysterious world of ancient Eastern art and culture. Each kimono robe features a collar loop for easy hanging, a removable coordinating waist tie, inside ties for secure closure, side hem slits, and a French seam finish. And the one-piece cut design of the sleeves shows the gorgeous print more completely. The robes are machine washable and wrinkle resistant but I have not laundered mine yet so I cannot report on how well they withstand the process.

Now don’t let the word “robe” trick you into thinking that these gorgeous garments are limited to indoor wear only. I layer these delightful dusters over just about anything I am wearing. They take the simplest outfits from bland to brilliant with my one comfortable and compelling addition. The relaxed fit and luxurious draping flow allow these kimono robes to be worn for many different occasions from bridal parties to slumber parties, from the bedroom to the beach, from lounging around to hitting the town.

Wanting the design and the print on my new kimono robe to really stand out, I layered it over a sleek column of black. I am always a fan of pattern mixing, so I chose black trousers with a subtle pinstripe print and a black ribbed knit turtleneck.

I rarely, if ever, wear coordinating fabric belts tied around my waist. But I almost always incorporate the matching waist tie into my outfit in some way. For this look, I wore the belt around my neck tied in a loose four-in-hand knot. I added my diamond hoops from Anjolee and my locket necklace which contains my family’s birthstones (three emeralds and one aquamarine) that Jeff brought home from Afghanistan for me in 2015. The print includes some lovely shades of soft pink and deep purple which coordinated perfectly with my pink velvet lace up booties and my new purple Teddy Blake bag.

This outfit is so good that I can see myself wearing it for so many different occasions. And it is incredibly comfortable, too. This is pajama dressing at its best!

If you love kimonos and robes and other beautiful flowing garments as much as I do, I highly recommend one of these stunning pieces from Ulivary. They also make wonderful gifts for any kimono robe loving folks like myself! Use the code SHELBEE at checkout for 20% off your purchase.
