The Holiday Series: What to Wear to a Winter Wedding with Zan.Style
Welcome to the fourth post in The Holiday Series which is a six post multi-blogger collaboration organized by Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood. If you missed the first three, we have already shared our Thanksgiving Day outfits, our Black Friday shopping outfits, and our holiday home tours. And we are at it again with some style inspiration for what to wear to a winter wedding. There are ten of us sharing our outfit ideas for this post, so be sure to scroll down and check out the amazing styles of the other nine fabulous women!
*This is a sponsored post. I was given this dress in exchange for a blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
*Shirt dress: Button Front Knee Length Ruffed Sleeve Dress – Black c/o Zan.Style.
For my winter wedding look, I kept it quite simple by layering two little black dresses. The bottom layer is a ribbed bodycon dress with spaghetti straps, not appropriate at all for a winter wedding! So I layered this gorgeous ruffled bell sleeve shirt dress on top of it. There is a dual purpose in my layering tactic…as is common with many shirt dresses that I find, I could not properly close the buttons over my bust. This is the reality of big boob problems. I ordered an XXXL in the dress which is the largest size available and while it fit perfectly every where else, my boobs just could not be contained. So I resorted to my reliable styling trick of wearing my shirt dress as a jacket instead. The extra layers also provide some added warmth for the cooler weather.
Wanting my magenta shoes to be the highlight of the outfit, I decided to keep my other accessories quite simple with a small black clutch, a dainty gold floral necklace, and a few delicate gold bangles. I added some magenta tassel earrings to pull it all together. And of course, patterned stockings to really draw the eye toward the fabulous shoes.
Back to the dress for a minute…the ruffled bell sleeves are really the highlight of this piece. I love the substantial cotton fabric as well. The garment is really beautifully crafted and I am thinking of wearing it as a jacket paired with denim and some killer heels next time. Or perhaps belting it would work just as well. I think the versatility of a little black shirt dress provides endless possibilities.
If you have an upcoming wedding and wondering what to wear, check out these nine ladies and their winter wedding outfit ideas.
A note on the shoes: I ordered these a size up as I often do on Shoe Dazzle. I should not have done that. They fit very true to size and now I have beautiful shoes that are just too big! I literally could not even walk in them. It was actually quite the scene the way I was hobbling around while taking these photos! I even put some inserts in them to help. It did not help. I may try them next time with some cute socks instead.
*Shoes: Dellena Pump in Magenta from Shoe Dazzle. Interested in becoming a member, click here to join. We will both receive some extra shopping benefits that way!

I hope you enjoyed this fun collaboration. We still have two more posts coming your way in the next few weeks: our Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve outfits. Stay tuned!

OK that outfit is a stunner head to toe – my favorite of them all for this particular collab. I love how you layered two little black dresses. I have layered dresses before too and I will let you on a little secret. About 8 or 9 years ago for a special occasion while in Chicago, I layered two dresses (both black) and paired them with magenta velvet pumps. I wish I had photos to show you. Great minds think alike. Too bad those shoes are too big, what about exchanging them for a smaller size?! They are so stunning!
I am so glad you are a part of this collab and you have been a part of every single one Shelbee and I cannot wait to see the final two outfits you style for The Holiday Series and of course our end-of-the-year linkup!! I will e-mail you soon!
Welcome by and check my post as well! =)

Ada, thank you so much! I wish you did have photos of your similar styling of two LBDs and magenta pumps. I would love to see that. I could exchange the shoes except I wore them outside already and it’s all through the mail which is just too much of a hassle for my taste. I am going to try them with them cozy socks and see what happens. I like that trend anyway right now! I will start making my rounds to the other blogs shortly! I can’t wait to see all the fabulous styles in this post. And I also look forward to the next 2 posts and our year end link up collaboration. Have a great day, my friend. And thanks again for organizing this whole wonderful thing!

Wowza! You are brilliant Shelbee! When I saw your picture I was drawn to what I thought was your jacket and then THOSE SHOES! So the jacket is a dress – genius – and it will be fabulous with jeans next time. I’m dying, I want it. THOSE SHOES THOUGH. My color – oh my word, I want hot pink shoes! I don’t think my feet could handle the high heel but they are to die for. You thought of everything my friend, right down to those stockings. This is so flattering on you and perfect for a wedding!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

Wow, Kellyann! Thank you so, so much for this amazing comment! I wasn’t even all that thrilled with what I pulled together for this look (mostly because I was disappointed that I couldn’t properly button the dress). But when I receive an item for review and it doesn’t seem to work out as I had originally planned, I do like to challenge myself to make it work anyway. Based on your comment, I guess I rose to that self-imposed challenge. So thank you very much for that validation! And I really wanted hot pink shoes, too. Now I have to make this heel work for me! And I just did a quick search on a few of my favorite shoe sites for some hot pink shoes with a lower heel that you might like, but it seems hot pink shoes of any sort are quite hard to come by! If I spot any, I will definitely send the link your way!

Layering 2 black dresses?? Who is being creative now? 😉 Love it! Those shoes are gorgeous Shelbee and of course right on trend. I guess I will need a pair of those, as well as a pair of those detailed pantyhose! Love being apart of this and seeing all the great looks everyone comes up with! Have a fabulous day, beautiful!!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Chrissy, thanks so much! I only layered out of necessity! What is that old saying…necessity is the mother of invention? I think the stockings are from Target! They have some cute choices once you start digging around in their hosiery section.
A totally fun collaboration! I look forward to seeing all the Christmas and New Year’s looks. Have a fabulous day, my friend!

Beautiful look for a winter wedding! The magenta shoes and gorgeous tights compliment your look wonderfully. So sad the heels are too large. 🙁 Brilliant idea to layer two black dresses – the sleeves of the shirt dress are lovely.
