The Holiday Series: What to Wear on Christmas Day
Christmas is only five days away and I am so excited to share with you the amazing style inspiration from 15 fabulous bloggers who have joined Ada’s Holiday Series collaboration for the fifth post in this series. This time we are sharing our Christmas outfits. I was never one to wear super gimicky clothing for any holiday but this year I thought it would be fun to go outside my comfort zone and embrace a more festive approach to holiday dressing.
*This is a sponsored post. This dress was provided to me for purposes of this blog post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
When I saw this adorable Vintage Style Christmas Party Dress at Rosegal, it totally made me smile with it’s whimsical print and vibrant green skirt. Of course, black lace is always in my wheelhouse as is anything vintage inspired. So I decided to go all out festive this holiday season when joining Ada and the gals for this post.
*Dress: Plus Size Lace Panel Vintage Christmas Party Dress c/o Rosegal.
Here’s the kicker though…I wanted to be sure that I received the dress in time for this post, so I ordered it back in October. The result…it is now sold out. But do check out all the other green Christmas dresses from Rosegal. There are so many really cute ones to be had for next year’s holiday festivities. Or perhaps red Christmas dresses are more your vibe.
*Boots: Diba Brodie Booties from DSW.
The top of the dress is sheer lace which is not really practical for Christmas in Northern New York where temperatures consistently dip below freezing. I resolved that issue by layering a long sleeve black tee shirt under the dress. I also added my own belt because I ordered a size too big and the dress needed a little cinching. You can’t really see it, but I layered a silver tulle skirt underneath to create some extra volume in the skirt which also tied in my silver velvet booties perfectly.
I haven’t decided yet if I am going to actually wear this dress on Christmas Day. Although I am seriously considering it. We are traveling to Pennsylvania for the holiday and I absolutely abhor packing. I am much too fickle when it comes to my outfits since I am such a mood dresser. So planning outfits in advance for travel not only stresses me out but always leaves me with a suitcase filled with things that I am not in the mood to wear! Please tell me I am not the only one.
Be sure to check out all of my gorgeous friends and what they are planning for their Christmas Day attire! And check back next week to see the final post of The Holiday Series where we will be sharing our New Year’s Eve looks.
15 Fashion Bloggers talk about their Christmas Outfits + Traditions!
Shelbee: “I never was a fan of holiday-themed clothing at all, but this year I decided to go outside of my comfort zone for my Christmas outfit. I chose this adorable black and green dress from Rosegal which features a festive winter scene on the skirt. It is short sleeved so I layered a long sleeve back tee under it for extra warmth and my silver velvet booties completely the look perfectly. Happy Holidays to everyone!”
Kristin: “Our last two years in Germany we have had friends and family come visit us for Christmas. This year my husband and I will be enjoying the holiday by ourselves (along with our pup) so we will make a nice dinner at home and pop some champagne. That’s why I’m keeping it casual with a bell sleeve sweater, jeans, and red heels. Happy Holidays, everyone!”
Linda: “This has been my Christmas Day outfit for the last three years. A skirt I found at Winners ( TJMaxx equiv) over a decade ago but on that is timeless. Sometimes I wear it with a black cashmere sweater or with a white lace sweater. I love the festive yet fun look of Santa and the skateboards.
Merry Christmas from my home to yours ( and from Lou too).”Lizzie: “I love untraditional holiday looks and think this look would be perfect for Christmas Eve! I adore the velvet and sparkle with the unexpected color combo and print.”
Lee: “This year we are spending Christmas at the beach. I am packing light with comfortable clothing. This outfit is perfect for any occasion. I love leather front leggings and this faux fur coat paired together!”
Monica: “Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate! Christmas is such a special time for me because growing up we had a lot of traditions in our household and some of those traditions I’ve taken with me in my own home with my fiance and fur babies. I hope everyone has a great Christmas!”
Chrissy: “Christmas morning starts at home in our pjs, but we’ve been known to drop in on family and friends as the day wears on.”

Absolutely dying over this fun outfit! I saw those dresses on Rosegal but I was afraid to order thinking it might not make it in time – you were smart to order back in October! You wear this so well and it is perfect with those velvet boots! Merry Christmas sweet Shelbee!

Gorgeous outfit, Shelbee. Love the details on the top and the skirt. The hi-low hem really adds extra flair! I know what you mean about packing. We have had to travel every holiday at some point in time, because all of our extended family is out of state. It is hard to know what you are going to feel like wearing on any given occasion. Ha, ha. Have a wonderful Christmas! – Amy

Ooo you look sooo festive!!! I ´d even wear the skirt with sneakers for a more day festive look. I identify 100% about packing, I hate it too! I just want to bring ALL my clothes and accessories to feel comfortable, haha 🙂
I hope you have fun anyway! I am sure the kids are going to enjoy it!
And I can´t believe you already have snow! It´s cold but also so fluffy!
🙂

Thanks so much, Helen! I never thought of cute sneakers with this dress but you are definitely onto something. I will have to try that. And it is so good to know that I am not alone in my packing issues. My kids always enjoying getting presents, hahaha, so they are super excited for Christmas. And while I love the look of snow, where I live once it snows it doesn’t melt until May! So it gets old really quickly! Thanks for stopping by, my friend. I wish you the happiest of holidays!

This dress is fabulous! The skirt has such a festive print and goes really well with your booties. Don’t worry I dread packing for trips too. A lot of the times I end up bringing items I don’t really use. I am trying to be better about it. Does one luggage instead of two count as getting better? Lol 😀

Maureen, thank you so much for this lovely compliment! I think I am going to wear this dress on Christmas because the outfit is already sorted out and I can just pack without thinking! I am glad to know that I am not alone when it comes to the dreaded task of packing for 5 days away. And yes, I think one suitcase rather than two is definitely progress! I still have to get over and answer your email as well. I have been so busy catching up on work this morning that I just haven’t gotten to it yet!
