Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. Over a year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit.

For this series, you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

And now without further delay, let me share with you the Skirts that have been submitted this month, some good buys and some that we may be saying good-bye to. Also, remember to visit Nancy’s Fashion Style as well to see some more!

And let me start with my co-host, Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style, with her Good Buy Skirt that carries lots of sentimental feelings with it.

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style

“This skirt is the one with the most beautiful memories! I wore it on our 25th anniversary party!”

And now Mireille of Chez Mireille with her adorable thrifted Good Buy Skirt.

Mireille of Chez Mireille

“I thrifted this Loft skirt last year with tags still on for less than $5. I love the print and the different color combos can create with it. I have mostly maxi skirts in my closet so anything different makes me happy!”

Michele of Thrifted Chic Style shared a classic piece with lots of staying power, so definitely a Good Buy.

“This vintage jean skirt I’ve had since 1990. A classic staple in my wardrobe. Definitely a Good Buy. It will never go out of style.”

And now Sonja of Yust So Me with two Good Buy Skirts.

Sonja of Yust So Me

“When I was a teenager I was not able to choose my own fashion, my parents decided what to wear. And I hated that blue plated skirt I had to wear with some ugly sandals. But last Christmas (it sounds like a Wham song) I saw this beautiful black plated skirt and felt I had to wear it.”

“Not a black one? Hahaha, yes, I sometimes go with the flow and buy things to explore my new life. After diagnosed with PTSS, I learned that I didn’t have to hide in black, so I did buy this green one a while ago. I am happy that I did, because it suits me!”

Next is Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of Style with a Good Buy Skirt that was also made more unique with some DIY by Jodie!

Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of Style

“This was a great buy as a midi length suede skirt. Then I DIYed it to make it fringy!! And it’s such a fun piece for my mom. She actually likes it and wears it!!”

And finally is one of my favorite Good Buy skirts.

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

“This black lace up pencil skirt from Torrid is one of my favorites. I love the way it fits and makes it look like I actually have a shapely bottom (which I do not)! The lacing adds a little something extra to a basic pencil skirt which I love. And every woman needs a fabulous black pencil skirt in their closet, in my opinion. This one is definitely a good buy!”

And now hop on over to Nancy’s post to see some more Skirts including one that I should say Good-Bye to.

The theme for May will be Polka Dots. So send us some of your favorite (or least favorite) Polka Dotted things. Shirts, sweaters, dresses, socks, pants, skirts, scarves, shoes, anything at all that has polka dots. Whether you love or hate them, we want to see them!

Send your photos with a few sentences describing your Good Buy or Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlight! Please submit your photos with a brief description by the 10th of May to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com.
