The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Silk or Satin & Link Up On the Edge #171
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series co-hosted with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it, you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
And now without further delay, let me share with you the Silk or Satin items that have been submitted this month. Also, remember to visit Nancy’s Fashion Style as well to see some more silky styles! Hopefully, you will find some inspiration from the fabulous ladies who have shared their personal picks crafted from silk or satin.
Allow me to begin with my wonderful co-host, Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style, with her Good Buy Silk Skirt.
“I love this new silk satin skirt! I love to wear brown in Autumn but I never seem to find lovely items. This one is such a Good Buy!”
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
Nancy also shared a not so Good Buy Satin Skirt…
“I like this skirt a lot but I don’t know how to style it! It never looks good in my eyes. Perhaps a Good-Bye.”
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
Next is the stunning Jacqui of Mummbstylish sharing her Good Buy Silk Slip Dress.
“I bought this H & M dress to take on my daughter’s hen weekend. I adore wearing it and feel very confident when I do. It’s a size small which is a real bonus, and I have had lots of lovely compliments wearing it.”
Jacqui of Mummbstylish
And now we have beautiful Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style sharing her Good Buy Silk Blouse.
“I’m submitting my faux silk blouse for the post!! I always used to think that silk and silky tops were for dress up, but now I’ve decided I just need to wear them. Life’s too short to keep them waiting!!”
Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style
And now here are my Good Buy Satin items.
“I bought this satin corset about 5 or 6 years ago primarily for fun in the bedroom, but I have realized that it is also quite versatile for styling in a variety of different ways. I don’t wear it often, but it is still definitely a Good Buy.”
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
“I saw this Forever 21 satin kimono on another blogger last year and I absolutely had to have it. I am so glad I went for it because it is one of my all time favorite kimonos in my very extensive kimono collection. An absolute Good Buy!”
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge
And now hop on over to Nancy’s post to see some more Silk and Satin items styled by some very fashionable ladies!
The theme for December will be Faux Fur. So send us some of your favorite (or least favorite) furry and plushy pieces. From coats and vests and scarves to boots and gloves and hats trimmed in fur, whether you love them or hate them, we want to see them!
Send your photos with a few sentences describing your Good Buy or Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlight! Please submit your photos with a brief description by the 13th of December to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com.

Now the featured favorites from last week’s link party.
Reader Favorite (Most Clicked)
Gail of Is This Mutton? shared her wonderful, amazing, beautiful, gorgeous, and very extensive boot collection in her post, Crazy About Boots – And Link Up. And it seems you all liked her pretty footwear as much as I did. Shoe Addicts Unite! Plus how cute is this photo? I cannot lie…I have definitely snuggled up with my favorite shoes a time or two in the past!
My Favorite Fashion Posts
MouMous of LaMoumous is ever so striking in her post, The Orange Sweater Dress @Lilophia Boutique. If I could rock a sweater dress like Moumous does, I might be buying all the sweater dresses!
Laurie of Vanity and Me is super chic and elegant and utterly street style cool in her post, Perfect Timing – A Cosy Teddy Coat. I absolutely love the color of this furry coat and the coolness vibe of her jeans and white top outfit underneath it.
My Favorite Non-Fashion Post
Jess of Elegantly Dressed and Stylish is making great strides in raising awareness about a connective tissue disease from which she suffers in her post, My Condition – Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is in the Spotlight. I applaud Jess’s initiative in using her blogging platform to share her struggles and spread awareness about a disease that is known as one of the “chronic invisible diseases” which causes a lot of pain for those who are afflicted with it. A little known fact about Jess’s blog…she branded her blog Elegantly Dressed and Stylish using the same initials as her condition Ehlers Danlos Syndrome because blogging was a creative distraction from her pain and struggles.
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Great showcase of silk and satin. Your kimono is the bomb! Not to mention that sexy corset.

Thanks for the feature Shelbee!
Such cool outfits with silk or satin. Love the green kimono on you and those are velvet green booties right? Awesome! I have a satin dress and silk blouses in my closet. I should have got with the program! I wouldn’t mind a slip dress myself!
Have a great weekend!

I had to giggle at myself. I don’t particularly enjoy wearing silk or satin (probably out of fear I’m going to ruin it in some way), but my husband purchased satin sheets for our bed. They are lovely to sleep on with one exception: the blankets have a propensity to slither off the end of the bed. It can be quite the fight! LOL!

Michelle, you just made me giggle! I don’t have much satin either…although I have more of a preference for a skirt in that fabric. I used to have a bunch of silk blouses, but I am a sweaty individual and ruined them all in the arm pits! So gross. Ha. I am too cold these days to be dealing with my blankets slithering away! Have a great weekend, my friend.

Chrissy
You do have an extensive kimono collection, don’t you? And as you should. You style them well. I don’t think I own a single silk or satin item. I never felt quite right in the material around my face. Perhaps I should try a skirt like Nancy’s. Or a fancy corset like yours. 😉
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Chrissy! I am definitely way more likely to wear the fabric in a skirt or a kimono. I used to have a bunch of beautiful silk blouses, but I sweat way too much and ruined them all in the armpits! Ewwww! I hope you are having a lovely weekend, my friend.

Surprisingly I only have one silk piece in my wardrobe, and nothing satin! The skirt is a wardrobe oldie from before kids and I can’t bear to part with it, it sticks around for office only days!
Thank you so much for joining the #weekdayWearLinkUp 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Mica, thanks for stopping by. I don’t have very much silk or satin either, but I wish I did now!
