The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Shorts
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A while back, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after running that series for a year, we decided to change it a bit.
For this series, you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
And now without further delay, let me share with you the Shorts that have been submitted this month. Also, remember to visit Nancy’s Fashion Style as well to see some more! Hopefully, you will find some styling inspiration from the fabulous ladies who have shared their styling of shorts.
And let me start with my wonderful co-host, Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style, with her Good Buy shorts.
“I loved this baggy one! My first one I think! I worn it to pieces!”

Next is the lovely Suzanne of Ask Suzanne Bell with her very Good Buy denim shorts.
“Over the years, I have purged my short selection down to one pair of shorts – a denim pair that I purchased at Anthropologie years ago. So when I am in need of a pair of shorts, I grab this pair which was a very Good Buy. As for all the rest? They are Bye Bye!”

The amazing Shugunna of Nzuri N* Simplicity shared her favorite summer shorts.
“These are my favorites. I reach for them on that first really hot summer day.”

The ever faithful Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style who joins with us every month for this series has shared a Good Buy pair of shorts as well.
“I’ve been wearing them [shorts] more and more, and I think they are fun for older women. I wore these black shorts with ankle boots recently. I love these shorts because they are wider in the legs so almost look like a skirt.”

The gorgeous Mireille of Chez Mireille is showing us her favorite denim shorts.
“This universal thread denim shorts (5 inch) are a good buy earlier this summer. I can’t believe I hadn’t had a pair of denim shorts in my closet for probably 4 to 5 years because I wear these ALL the time! I think that 5 inch inseam is my favorite length for shorts.”

And finally my shorts which were a great buy once upon a time.
“Denim cut off shorts are my go-to all summer long. But it is hard to find the perfect fit. These shorts from Torrid were a Good Buy last year, but now are too big and starting to look silly. Maybe time to say Good-Bye!”

And now hop on over to Nancy’s post to see some more Shorts styled by some pretty fashionable ladies!
The theme for September will be Lace. So send us some of your favorite (or least favorite) pieces crafted from lace. I am super excited for this theme because lace is such a timeless fabric that can be dressed up in a feminine way or edged up in a sassy way. Whether you love or hate lace pieces that you have added to your wardrobe, we want to see them!
Send your photos with a few sentences describing your Good Buy or Good-Bye and we will put you in the spotlight! Please submit your photos with a brief description by the 10th of September to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com.
*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.

Great shorts! Funny how Jodie and I went with yellow on top! My outfit today is also similar to hers yesterday too!

Mireille, thanks so much for joining us! I love that you both wore yellow. It made it easy to pick the background color for my cover collage!

If you’ve got the legs go for it (and you have) i save my short shorts for the holidays – but I have bought some knee length white Bermuda shorts that look cute, will be sharing that post soon. Jacqui Mummabstylish

Thanks so much, Jacqui! I do like my legs so I have no issue showing them off. I only started wearing Bermuda shorts this summer because I finally figured out how to make them not look frumpy on me. I could never get the proportions right. I look forward to seeing your white ones. Have a great weekend!
