The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Maxi Skirts or Dresses & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #249
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
The theme for November is Maxi Skirts and Dresses.
*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.
Now let’s check out the beautiful maxi styles submitted by my fabulous blogging friends! Thanks so much for joining us!
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
“This is a Good Buy although I haven’t worn it that much. But it’s a great dress for a warm summer night, bbq with friends. It’s an easy to wear dress…well aren’t all dresses easy to wear! Again I see myself in black and white, while I always say that I don’t like that color combination.”
Nancy
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
“I don’t often wear maxi skirts or dresses, but this brown wool skirt really fits my vintage/Dark Academia style, plus it has pockets! So it’s definitely a Good-Buy in my book.”
Salazar
Michelle of My Bijou Life
“Here is my Good Buy maxi skirt. I am a sucker for tropical prints, and I love this one. It can easily be dressed up or down – or somewhere in between.”
Michelle
Sheila of Ephemera
“This Twinset skirt is a beautiful piece, with oodles of layers of sheer stretchy tulle that’s covered in teeny dots. I bought it on consignment/second-hand for $78.00 a couple of years ago, new with tags (original price $515!!), and this is its 7th wearing.”
Sheila
Laura of I do DeClaire
“This maxi dress was a good buy! I’ve worn it several times since purchasing it and it always makes me feel good!”
Laura
Birgit of Forty Fifty Happy
“I don’t like the colors anymore. It’s all too colorful for me. I’ve shortened the dress in the meantime and only wear it on vacation at the beach.”
Birgit
Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
“This dress is a good buy because the colors are right for me; it has pockets; and it covers all of my fluffy ruffles! Also, my husband insisted I buy something that day!”
Marsha
And me!
“I found this red satin maxi slip skirt in the consignment shop for just a few dollars. I didn’t want to pass it up for the price and the bold red color but I was unsure if I would wear it very often. It turns out that I do wear it often and I love this skirt. Such a great second hand buy!”

Hi, great to be back. I’ve been doing lots of painting and have not had much time to visit anyone lately. Beautiful selection of outfits. Thank you so much for hosting, have a lovely Tuesday.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Claire! I need to start my next painting project which will likely take me away from blogging stuff as well!

Mica
I’ve never met a maxi skirt or dress I didn’t want, haha! They are definitely good buys to me! I thought about joining in with this theme but the problem is which skirt or dress to pick? I have so many, a favourite is too difficult to choose!
Thanks for the link up!
Hope that your week is off to a good start 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Mica! Oh you should have just picked two random favorites and sent them on to us! It is so fun to see all the different ways of styling maxis in one big round up post and I think this was one of my favorite ones so far! Hopefully you will join us soon…maybe for some holiday sparkles!

Kellyann Rohr
This was fun to see so many different maxi skirts – there’s something for everyone and it’s clear the style is here to stay. I’m not sad about it, I do love the longer length!
xo,
Kellyann
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Kellyann! I thought this particular round up of looks was exceptional! Everyone has such unique style so there is lots of inspiration for others. Maxi dresses and skirts can be really versatile if we think outside the box! I am not sad to see this style stick around either. I like all the lengths! Haha

It’s always nice to come away with a great deal. The red is a bold, happy color, and it looks like it doesn’t wrinkle. I like Birgit’s comment about her dress, how she shortened it and wears it to the beach. I bet it looks great. Thanks for hosting!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Tina! I know that I have had to steam the skirt when I take it out of my closet (because everything is really squished in there so wrinkles galore!), but now that you mention it, I don’t think it does wrinkle during wear very much. I thought it was really cool that Birgit shortened her maxi dress for a beach cover up, too!

Nancy
Your skirt has such a gorgeous color! And Michelle’s one too! I do love mxi skirts and dresses a lot now. Perhaps I am getting older and don’t like to show of my legs anymore……lol.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Nancy! It was the color of this skirt that made it irresistible…and the satin! I still like to show off my legs, but I also like a good maxi style, too!

Chanda

I always enjoy seeing what people think are good buys or “goodbyes!” Love the red maxi skirt and I have maxi dresses I enjoy wearing as well. Love the layering over tops of the maxi.
Have a great day!

Thanks, Jess! That’s why I love this series so much…you get to see so many different styles for lots of fun inspiration and ideas! I have been layering over dresses more and more recently and it really is a great way to change up the look of maxi dresses and get more styling options from them. I hope your week is going well, my friend!

Alexandra
So much wonderful inspiration here! I really like seeing the skirts. I am not much of a dress person, but love skirt outfits (though I don’t wear much of these either – ha!). Can’t wait to see the Sparkles next month! I am all about the glitter.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Alexandra! I am glad that you enjoyed all of the style inspiration here. You should join us next month for our sparkle theme! We would love to have you!

Marsha Banks
I had a really difficult time deciding on which maxi look to go with! I don’t think I’ve met a maxi I didn’t like! But, I rarely wear them in winter which is kind of silly, right? Love all of the contributions!
http://marshainthemiddle.com/
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Marsha, thanks so much! I have so many of everything that I always struggle with narrowing it down for these posts! LOL So I totally relate to the struggle of picking just two to feature. I tend to shy away from maxis in winter as well because I am always just too cold. Even my wintery photos of maxis in this post were probably just an outfit shoot then back into my coziest winter items! I am so glad that you joined us this month! I am looking forward to all the sparkles next month.

Darlene
Such a good variety for this Good Buy/Good Bye! It’s great fun to read what everyone has to say–I actually like all of the skirts! I’m easy. 😜 Love your red satin–it’ll be perfect for a holiday post, my friend!
xx Darlene
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Darlene! I enjoy reading each person’s thoughts about their Good Buys as well. It is nice to know that I am not the only woman who is so emotionally invested in my wardrobe pieces! Haha. Every piece has a story, doesn’t it? And I love to read those stories!

Rena
Shelbee, everyone looks so lovely. Your red skirt is fabulous. I’d like to say that I’ve made so many maxi skirt/dress “good buys” that I couldn’t pick just two but in reality, I lost track of time and missed the deadline. I’m super excited about next month’s sparkle edition. Excuse me while I put a reminder on my calendar 😃
Rena
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Rena, thanks so much! I love maxis but I feel like I don’t wear them as often as I should. But then again, I can only wear so many outfits in a day! Haha
I am very excited for the sparkle theme, too. I am really looking forward to seeing all the festive sparkly submissions!
