The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: March 2018-Shoes
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
Welcome! This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A year ago, Nancy and I started The Bad Buy Book, a monthly series about our worst purchases. It was a lot of fun to do and we both learned something from it, too! Nancy learned that off-white against her face is not the most flattering color. And I learned that I have a serious problem resisting a good thrift shop find when it comes to pieces that fit “good enough” but “not quite right.” However, after a year has passed, we decided to change the series a bit.
You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
You can email your submissions to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com.
So let’s get started with the very first edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. The theme is Shoes!
Let me start with my co-host, Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and her Good Buy Shoes.
“I have had these for a long time now. They give me a 80s, London, Vivienne Westwood, Malcolm Mclaren, Sex Pistols, punk kind of vibe! I love that!”
Next is our loyal friend, Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style with her Good Buy/Good-Bye Boots.
“The photo I’m submitting is both a good buy and good bye pair of booties!! I attached a close up photo too….
I absolutely love the embroidered booties that are shown everywhere, and I purchased these online last year. I love them…..BUT for some reason the pitch is not super easy to walk or stand in for a long period of time. I even saw the same print at DSW this year in a shorter heel and I almost bought those instead. But I paid more than I usually do for this pair, so I didn’t want to waste that money. Silly, right? Because it’s just as much of a waste to not wear them. In fact, this year, I took them to a cobbler to see if he could make the heel shorter. And he did but only about half an inch. It’s made them a little better to wear, but I may just have to say good bye. The verdict is still out…”
And let’s all welcome, my friend, Michele of @seechele_styles with her Good Buy Shoes.
“My leopard boots are by far my Best Buy from Target. I wore them all fall and winter and I’ll definitely be wearing them in the spring. The price was $39.99.”
And Sonja of YuStSoMe has shared two pairs of Good-Bye Shoes.
“I don’t like those Mocassin shoes, because they don’t fit by my style. But I bought them once because I had so much pain in my foot that day, walking on heels, I needed something flat!”
“The Silver shoes I loved so much, but everytime I step into them my feet hurt. The fabric is like cardboard and damnnnn hell… they are fun to look at, but no fun wearing!”
And now my Good Buy Shoes!
“I was unsure of the practicality of these bubble gum pink velvet booties when I first purchased them thinking they may be a little too pink and little too glittery for my taste. But they were a great deal at $20 and they are quite bold. And I like bold. So I went for it. They sat in my closet for a few weeks, but once I styled them the first time and realized how comfortable they were, too, they began making regular appearances in my daily outfits. I have actually worn them quite a few times…I love them paired with black because it really lets them stand out. These were definitely a Good Buy!”
Thank you all for participating. We enjoy doing this very much! The theme for next month is GREEN! And if you have a nice idea for a theme yourself, let us know!
So start searching for those items that are a Good Buy or Good-Bye!
Much love,
Shelbee & Nancy

Shoes are such a weakness to me, that I even hate to think they are “bad”….but it happens!! So it’s nice you included the “good” ones too!!

Mine, too, Jodie! I think sharing the good buys in this series is going to be fun and hopefully get more participants! Thanks so much for always playing along with us! Life is short, buy the shoes.

How much do I love this post? A lot!!!! So fun.
I have the shorter heeled version of Jodie’s booties and have yet to wear them. When I saw them in the store, I called my sister and my daughter to get their opinions — we all said “yes” and came up with outfit ideas. *sigh* I don’t know what happened.
I adore your pink booties. They’re beyond fabulous. And that heel just screams fun.

Daenel, thanks so much! Jodie’s boots are so adorable. I have a pair with a very similar print if not the exact print as well. I have styled them with a velvet dress and I loved the look! But they would be really adorable with jeans, too. I look forward to seeing how you do end up styling them!

I am loving that this is a shoe one! I love Jodie’s booties, they’re such a cute print, and I’d totally rock them! I love the black booties too, I like the heel too.

Thank you, Laura! These are always such fun posts to do. I love seeing what everyone else buys and why they like or dislike their purchases. Hopefully, you can join us for one of the editions! Have a great weekend.

Great series! Its so true, but sometimes we have a bad buy we just keep because you don’t want to seem wasteful… but you never wear them!! Its so silly, but so true

Thanks so much, Mel! I am sure if I did a major closet clean out (which I need to), I would have a huge pile of bad buys! Ha. But I am always hopeful that I will find a way to make them work somehow. It is silly. But it is who I am!

Thanks, Sheree! It is the worst when you find the cutest shoes and they are uncomfortable!
