The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Gold

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

The theme for July is Gold. From jewelry to clothing to shoes and handbags, all that glitters is sometimes gold! We only had a few participants this month but we are super grateful to you all for joining us.

*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

“I bought this top on Vinted, just because I am a magpie. I hadn’t wore it before, not even tried it on. But for these series I needed another outfit with gold. And when I put it on I fell in love! And gorgeous on this skirt in my eyes. Definitely a Good Buy! Paired it with a lot of golden jewelry, golden belt and golden espadrilles! Love it!”

“Here is my Good buy for Gold. I bought this gold cardigan over 12 years ago, and I love it, especially around the holidays. However, just because of your prompt, I’m going to try to wear it casually soon.”

“These gold boots were a good buy! I got them on extreme sale after Christmas and they add some glam to any outfit!”

“Although I’ve only worn the boots with leggings I think they’d look great with a midi or maxi skirt. And gold is my favourite metallic shade so these are definitely keepers!”

“I bought these gold sling back peep toe heels years ago because I thought they were so pretty. Turns out they aren’t pretty enough to counterbalance the extreme discomfort. I have yet to find peep toe shoes that don’t shred my toe skin or sling backs that don’t destroy the back of my heels. That double whammy makes these pretty things Good-Bye material!”

Up Next for August: Asymmetry

You are invited to join us for Asymmetrical August to share your favorite (or least favorite) Asymmetrical things. Asymmetry in fashion generally manifests mostly in hemlines and sometimes in necklines. An asymmetrical hemline is one that is uneven on either the side or the bottom of the garment. Some examples of asymmetrical hemlines include handkerchief, high-low, shark-bite, shirttail, slant, and step hems. Asymmetrical necklines include one shoulder styles or some sort of uneven cut out designs. If you think creatively, I am certain you can all find some asymmetrical fashion item in your wardrobe or even your home decor. All of my handmade curtains have asymmetrical hemlines!

You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of August to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight.

*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.
