The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Florals
Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!
This is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book. A series that I co-host with Nancy where you can choose whether you want to share a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to, previously known as a Bad Buy). Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
The theme for April is Florals because April showers bring May flowers and also because Florals for Spring is truly (not) groundbreaking, but we have never featured a burst of colorful floral blooms in this series yet. So let’s have a look all the beautiful botanical styles of my wonderful blogging friends.
*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post! If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.
Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style
“Whenever I like to wear florals, it’s most of the time dark florals. So I love this dress. It is still cheerful, to me, because of the white. And I love to wear my patent leggings underneath for some extra …coolness…but I am on the hunt for a pink floral dress at the moment!”
Nancy
Joanne of Slices of Life
“I just bought a new floral scarf that I am loving! With a deep navy background and lots of white, purple, pink and teal in all the flowers, it is the perfect spring scarf. I knew it would go perfect with the navy vest I got in my last Stitch Fix box paired with a burgundy top and Jeans.”
Joanne
Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style
“Here is my floral as a good buy!! It’s taken me awhile to embrace the floral prints because I thought they were too girly at first. But this thrifted sweater is one of my faves because it also has some sparkles and beads on it!!”
Jodie
Michelle of My Bijou Life
“This kimono was definitely a good buy! I love the bright, happy colors. And it was on sale, which always is a win.”
Michelle
Ellie of Simply Ellibelle
“This top was purchased at Marshall’s shortly after the stores opened up again in another state (while ours were still closed). I just loved how it looked on the hanger and the pretty floral print, but was unable to try it on due to the closed dressing rooms. Unfortunately I didn’t like the fit, but missed the return window so was unable to return the shirt. Before throwing it in the donate pile, I decided to style it anyway and here it is…still not really loving it (especially not a fan of the tie feature on the side) but I decided to make it work for one season. Luckily it was only $10 so not too much of a waste, but it was definitely not a ‘Good Buy'”.
Ellie
Jacqui of Mummbstylish
“My yellow floral one shoulder dress is from Asos a few years ago. I bought it for my trip to Abu Dhabi and loved it on the hanger! Once I put it on I wasn’t as keen, do let me know what you think of it my friends. I love how feminine it is, all floaty and flowery. I paired it with my gold ‘dancing’ sandals. I’d love to dance in it, but haven’t had the opportunity yet! I picked out the orange and borrowed a River Island clutch from my daughter.”
Jacqui
Liz of Closet Play Image
“The blouse is most likely a good-bye. It was bought on a whim for my fall capsule and only wore it once. That is lousy cost-per-wear, even if it was inexpensive. This blouse has too many colors for my personal color contrast, which means a lot of extra makeup to make it work. I may give it another try again in the fall, but if I don’t wear it, it’s outta here! (At least I got a blog post out of it?)“
Liz
Rena of Fine Whatever
“I call this skirt ‘floral with a side of gingham’ and it was definitely a good buy. A couple of years ago, I’d made a stop at very popular department store to just quickly run in and get what I needed (which wasn’t a new skirt). But this skirt was on a rack by the entrance and I couldn’t resist.“
Rena
And me!
I mentioned in the Reminder post how much I love dark florals and then I didn’t share very many dark florals in that post. I really like the moodiness and contrast that is created with a burst of bright florals on a black background. Here are some of my favorite Good Buy dark florals.
“I have had this ditsy floral print overall mini dress for so long that I can’t even remember when I purchased it. But I love it as it offers so much styling versatility. And it’s wicked cute. Definitely a Good Buy.”
Shelbee
“I bought these floral cowgirl boots a few years ago and I loved them so much that I also got them in gold. Definitely Good Buys! You can see the gold ones on Nancy’s post.”
Shelbee
“Another black dress with a floral print that is definitely a Good Buy. This one was a preloved find in my local consignment shop. I love the flirtiness of the style and fabric.”
Shelbee
And now won’t you please hop on over to Nancy’s post for more blooming florals to welcome in the spring and and celebrate sunnier days ahead.
Up Next….Tulle
The theme for May’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book will be Tulle. Won’t you join us next month with your favorite (or least favorite) Tulle things. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of May to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight!
*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.

I’m loving the floral boots, Shelbee! They’re freaking gorgeous!!! I don’t think I would ever take them off my feet lol!
I should have joined this month because I have a floral top that I could have worn as a good-bye lol!!
Hugs

Thanks so much, Suzy! These boots really are so much fun! I wear the more in the warmer weather though so I do basically put them away for winter. Cowboy boots don’t work that well in snow and ice! If you want to send me your Good-Bye floral top, I will definitely add in into the post!

Thanks Shelbee! I don’t think I have any photos of it, and it’s raining today so I can’t go takes any pics. I appreciate it though!

I’ve already made a note of it! I’ve got one skirt that might work lol.

P.S Currently thinking about how to interpret the Aurora Borealis by Frederic Edwin Church for next week LOL! It’s a GORGEOUS piece of art xx
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Yay! I think I only have a few tulle skirts as well. I already submitted my outfit photo for the Aurora Borealis painting! Haha. But it happened quite by accident. I got dressed and then when I looked at the painting, I realized my outfit was perfect…completely by accident! By the way, whenever the prompts are announced, I save the images as my wallpaper on both my laptop and my phone. It really helps me get ideas when I can see the image periodically throughout the day! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

There really is such a wide variety of floral patterns out there; I tend to stick to those darker ones too with black or navy backgrounds but sometimes wish I felt like pulling off the large bright floral patterns others wear with such confidence.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I feel like the variety of floral prints out there is absolutely endless, Joanne! I am definitely drawn more to the dramatic dark florals than the bright robust prints as well. I would love to have the confidence to wear the super crazy hippie floral prints from the 60’s and 70’s! Actually, I probably do have the confidence to wear those prints, they are just really hard to find. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Hope that your week is going well 🙂

Thanks so much, Mica! I enjoy florals all year round as well but definitely tend to wear them more often in warmer weather. I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Such fun florals! I do them in little spurts, usually on skirts!

Dark florals are my catnip! Cannot. Resist. I am especially fond of florals with a navy background, but florals on black are a strong second place. So Joanne’s floral scarf is right up my alley, and Shelbee’s boots are crazy in the best kind of way!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Sally! Dark florals are like catnip to me, too! I rarely can resist!

Thanks, Jodie! Oh my gosh, I love your floral combat boots! Maybe we need to do something really specific like floral footwear for some kind of challenge or theme! I have lots of pairs of floral boots and shoes! That might be fun.

Sheila (of Ephemera)
I was stymied by too many florals to participate in this round – but you have so many wonderful participants, and I’m thrilled to see extra outfits here (vs. Nancy’s blog). How fun!
Tulle is a challenge – I think I can do it – I definitely have some tulle pieces.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I totally understand that feeling of having too many things to choose from! It’s why I shared 3 different floral things in this post. Haha. Remember you can always send us at least two different photos and one will go in each of our posts. Tulle is going to be a challenge for me as well. I only have a few tulle skirts. I am looking forward to seeing your tulle pieces, Sheila! Have a fabulous day.

It was a treat to look at all the pics and the wide range of florals! I decided a while ago that florals aren’t really for me (although I did a pair of floral pants recently) but I love seeing them on others. I love tulle so can’t wait to see that!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Gail! This was a fun and happy theme for April…especially since it just keeps raining here! Ooh, I hope you have some tulle that maybe you can share something with us this month! We would love to have you join us!

Love your dark background florals, Shelbee! And Nancy’s reverse print is super chic and mod-throwback all at once! Wishing you and yours a peace-filled weekend, and some spring sunshine…

Liz, thanks so much. Dark florals are my jam! I love Nancy’s reverse print dress, too. It is very retro! I am so glad that you could join us this month with your beautiful dark florals! Have a lovely weekend!
