The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Asymmetrical

Welcome to The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the 15th of each month.

Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description via email. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome! We will give you the theme for the next month at the conclusion of each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month.

The theme for August is Asymmetrical. Asymmetry in fashion generally manifests mostly in hemlines and sometimes in necklines. An asymmetrical hemline is one that is uneven on either the side or the bottom of the garment. Some examples of asymmetrical hemlines include handkerchief, high-low, shark-bite, shirttail, slant, and step hems. Asymmetrical necklines include one shoulder styles or some sort of uneven cut out designs. So let’s check out what you all shared!

*If you sent me a photo, but do not see it in my post, be sure to check Nancy’s post. If you don’t see your photo on either post, please let us know right away and we will add it. Sometimes the submissions can get lost in the shuffle.

“When I bought this two piece I thought I would return it, because didn’t think it would look good. Why not? Because off shoulder tops never looked good on me. Things can change right? But I think it does look good now! I already showed it on my blog last Friday. It’s a Good Buy. I only need to buy a strapless bra now. But I am very much in love with asymmetrical!”

“Asymmetrical pieces aren’t my usual go to, but I do have a couple of things that I loved wearing.
The first is this pretty green dress, the colours caught my eye and I decided I actually quite like the look on me!”

“I absolutely love this high/low shirt so much that I went back to Amazon and bought it in a second color this year. They have both been such good buys! I wear both shirts often through spring, summer, & fall. Here is my pink shirt styled with my favorite cut off jean shorts and some rose gold jewelry. The top is so cute and airy and can be dressed up or down.”

“Since I shared with Nancy a top that wasn’t originally asymmetrical (I just hacked it that way), I decided to showcase a true asymmetrical piece for you. This sheer tunic has been a great buy from over 8 years ago because it adds sass over any plain dress or column of color.”

“Here is my asymmetrical silk skirt and I bought on-line during the end of season sale and am very happy that I did.”

“This asymmetrical navy dress was a good buy. It was flattering and very versatile. Unfortunately it developed a hole somehow and so I had to toss it.”

And Me!
“My mother made this asymmetrical tunic for me nearly 20 years ago and it has been one of my favorite wardrobe pieces ever since. She passed away shortly after completing this piece for me so now I can never get rid of it even though I don’t wear it very often anymore. It is not necessarily a Good Buy because I didn’t buy it, but I did buy the fabric for it which I still absolutely love as well.”

Up Next for September: Denim Skirts

You are invited to join us in September to share your favorite (or least favorite) Denim Skirts. They can be short or long or midi length. Heck, you can even share a denim dress since the skirt part would still fit the theme! Remember, we are flexible with our rules and encourage you all to be creative and share whatever you think suits the monthly theme!

You are welcome to send two photos if you’d like to be featured on both blogs. Remember to include a brief description about your submissions. Please submit your photos and descriptions by the 10th of September to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com so we can put you in the spotlight.

*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly reminder email for this series.
