Stepping Into Spring with DressLily & Link Up On the Edge #37
*This is a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Have I mentioned lately how I am longing for Spring? There is still snow on the ground here in the North Country with more forecasted for this weekend followed by some warmer temperatures next week with lots of rain. At least it will wash away all the snow. And warmer is a relative term here. I still can’t go with bare legs or bare toes. But that’s all fine since my toes are a wreck from being cooped up in socks and boots all winter! Time for that first Spring pedicure!
Have I mentioned lately that I want all the pretty Spring dresses? For real. There are so many beautiful dresses out there this season, I can’t even stand it. I have been wanting to add some maxi dresses to my wardrobe for Spring and Summer, but I was having the hardest time finding ones that flatter me. And then I saw this navy printed wrap style maxi dress from DressLily and fell in love with it. And I do believe this dress will be on repeat this Spring and Summer. Not only is is so comfortable, lightweight, and soft, it washes so easily, too! That is a big plus for me…easy washability!
Have I mentioned lately that it is still really freaking cold where I live? So I need to winterize all of my Spring clothes. And I do this by adding layers. Lots of layers. This dress is a bit sheer so it needs a little something underneath it anyway. And the top doesn’t quite fit my boobs the way it should (Big Boob problems are real, my friends). So I added a navy tank top and a pair of skinny jeans under my dress.
Have I mentioned lately big boob problems? And how insecure showing too much cleavage makes me feel (wait until you see my post on Monday….oh the cleavage!). Serving dual purposes in this outfit is my scarf…some extra warmth and covering up the big boob problem!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love layering? Duster cardigans are one of my favorite ways to add layers. This white one is an oldie, but it is so great for Spring because it is super lightweight. And it was the perfect topper for this dress.
Have I mentioned lately that I love to add accessories to elevate a basic outfit? Like this hat. And this cute little bag from Rosegal. It won’t hold much…maybe a change purse, cell phone, and lipstick. Or a camera. But the zipper already broke on it. Boo. I can still snap it closed though.
How are you all getting on with your Spring clothing? Are you still needing lots of layers to keep warm? Based on your favorites from last week’s link up, it seems most of you are adding layers to your Spring pieces. Check it out below.
Outfit Details
Dress: Plus Size Plunge Print Bohemian Wrap Maxi Dress (c/o DressLily).
Bag: Special Offer Tie and Covered Design Slanting Bag/One-Shoulder Bag For Female – Pale Yellow (c/o Rosegal).
Hat: Kohl’s.
Necklace: Shelbee’s Shoppe.
Everything else is super old from my closet!
And it’s link up time! But first…your favorite posts from last week.
Yvonne of Funky Forty shared two fabulous ways to style off the shoulder dresses while it is still a bit chilly. Check out both looks in her post How to Wear Off the Shoulder Pre-Summer.
Yvonne’s second outfit in her post is my absolute fave, but I’m going to make you go visit her page to see it!
And Jodie, Nancy, and Charlotte of Jodie’s Touch of Style have caught your attention once again with their creative stylings in the post Layering Your White Blouse Under Your Sleeveless Shirt. I absolutely love this way to begin styling your sleeveless blouses while it is still too cold for bare shoulders.
Amy of Stylin’ Granny Mama joined these fab ladies for even more styling inspiration in this post. But you are going to have to hop on over to see how Amy has layered her white blouse!
That’s all I have for today! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. Please be sure to check in next week as I have a super fun collaboration post coming to you on Monday! Have it mentioned there’s cleavage? (Totally out of my comfort zone, so please be kind!)
Also, submissions for April’s Bad Buy Book are due in a few weeks! To be featured in our next post, please submit a photo of your Bad Buy Trousers!
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Thank you, Jodie, for being oh so fabulous. You and your family! In my last post Love Will Prevail, I had black skinny jeans under that maxi dress, too! Sometimes, I think the jeans add a little more edge than plain old leggings under the dress. And let’s face it, I still need leg coverage. It is just too cold here! I hope I inspired Nancy and Charlotte to try a dress over jeans a different way!
Have a lovely weekend!

Very cute boho dress! With secret skinny jeans, no less.
I don’t think the duster works though — I’d suggest a short, waist-length cardi or jean jacket. The duster is looking like a bathrobe! Egads!
Thanks for the linkup — and posting it so early so that I could join in before going to work! Have a great weekend!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Egads is right! I don’t want it to look like a bathrobe! But I do want it to feel like a bathrobe! Why is it still so cold here?! Thanks for the constructive criticism! Much appreciated. And a jean jacket I think would be fabulous. Glad you could link up before work, Anne!
Happy weekend!

Hi Jess! Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your travels are going well! And there is nothing really that I won’t talk about on my blog…big boob problems included, obviously! Hahaha! There are so many gorgeous dresses out here for Spring. I love the OTS look on other people, but every time I have tried it, I literally look like a linebacker dressed in drag. Broad shoulder problems! I look forward to seeing how all of my blogger friends style their Spring pieces though! Have a fabulous weekend.

Personally, I’ve only had to deal with an ample bosom for the 4 years I nursed Eve. They were all over the place then. The only time I measured a 36DD which may not seem much for some but in my case, having been a 34A pre-motherhood, they were massive. I couldn’t do cardio, hell, I couldn’t even walk briskly without my breasts hurting hahaha so whilst I know many covet a generous cleavage, I do not AND I empathise with ladies who struggle with what they’ve been bequeathed with at times HUGS Shelbee.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Such a great comment, Sheela! Running is completely out of the question for me unless I want to be knocked out by my own ampleness flying around! And forget ever going braless! I envy those who can wear adorable strapless dresses with no other support than the dress itself. But I suppose we all have our things about our bodies that we are dissatisfied with. On the other, however, the largeness of my breasts makes me much less self-conscious of the roundness of my belly! As long as the boobs are bigger than the belly, I’m good! Thanks as always for sharing your story!

One of our best photo shoots! Well, if you count the laughs and the lighting. Now that I said that, we have laughed and enjoyed so many, so not “the” best, but the best of the week let’s say. 😉 Something about this one was so unique!!!!! The dress is fabulous and you rocked the look. I showed “the man of the house” and he was like whoa, can’t believe that’s our house, she looks good, and wait, she wore jeans under that?”. Haha. Men. (Glad he mentioned you though and not just like wooden structure.) Great post Shelbee.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Hahaha! Best comment on my blog, I think! “Glad he mentioned you though and not just the wooden structure.” That is so funny! And he appreciates that I wore jeans under my dress…I don’t know if that would even dawn on my husband! Although, my husband does appreciate the way I dress, so I can’t knock him in that area! Thanks for all the help with my blog. All the support. All the laughs. And all the friendship! Love you.

I didn’t have time to read this post on Friday but I am cracking up over here, in a good way. Big boob problems lol. Thankfully, mine are a medium size and proportioned for my body. Girlfriend I love that maxi dress and the creative way you styled it. The greenery floral necklace is fun too. How was it working with Rosegal and DressLily?! Please tell me. Thanks.
I will e-mail me you soon about a couple of things too. Cannot wait to talk with you, sweet friend. Have a great week! =)
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Ha! Thanks, Ada! Big boob problems are for real, I’m telling you! Working with them was great. They give you a set amount to shop with and then just write a post for each item you choose as well as a wish list and done! Look forward to hearing from you, my friend!
