Sick Day & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #162
Y’all, I am so sick. Isn’t it funny how much we appreciate our health when we don’t have it for a few days? This thing started gradually on Saturday night, progressed to fairly bad on Sunday, and now my throat hurts so bad that it feels like I was beheaded and then sewn back together.
I have a fever and chills and body aches that are sending shooting pains through my joints. Even my skin and veins ache. And my hair, too. How can a virus make your hair hurt? To add insult to flu symptoms, I just started my period. I know that may be too much information, but I just wanted to really drive home how completely miserable I am right now. Somebody bring me the cry baby soup, please!
In the meantime, won’t you add your posts to the link party below so I have something to browse through while I lie in bed all day.
And now your featured favorites from last week.

Dee of Granny’s Grid linked her post, Blurred Vision (Barn Photo Prompt), sharing her participation in a photo prompt where you write a short story (100 words or less) about the photo that is being used as the prompt. Dee often shares creative writing prompts on her blog, so if you are looking for writing inspiration, do go check it out.

Jacqui of Mummabstylish shared her post, Style Not Age-Flower Power. Her beautiful floral dress in shades of pastel paired with pale pink accessories and a light wash denim jacket is giving me all the Spring vibes. And I am so ready for Spring.
My Favorite Non-Fashion Post
Alice of DIY Your Life shared a very informative and somewhat concerning post, The Shocking Hidden Dangers in Craft Supplies. In recent years, we have been learning so much about the toxins that are added to our cleaning, cosmetic, and hygiene products. It should come as no surprise that harmful toxins are also in craft supplies and Alice has done the research to enlighten us.

Maureen | http://www.littlemisscasual.com
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Maureen! I am not getting any better so I am off to the doctor today. I think it may be strep throat considering the pain when I swallow and try to turn my head. So hopefully with antibiotics (which I hate), I will be feeling much better in another day or two.

Carrie @ Curly Crafty Mom
Oh no! Feel better soon!! My daughter was diagnosed with strep and type A flu on Saturday night. Then, Saturday night I checked her temp at 3 a.m. and it was 105!!! It got up to 105.6 at one point. I was on the phone with the doctor and they suggested several things for an hour and it went down a TAD and then it started going back up. So, needless to say we went to the ER where we waited AN HOUR and then it went down on its own to 103 (which seemed SO low compared to 105!). Sigh. It was not a fun weekend, especially when it was so nice outside. I think she will be going back to school tomorrow, the poor thing! Get better soon!

Oh no, Carrie, that is awful! I get so panicky when my kids get sick like that. I am glad that your daughter has been treated and is doing better now. I am pretty sure that whatever I have is or has turned into strep throat. I have had a low grade fever for 3 days and my throat is so swollen you can see it. It also hurts to turn my head. I am off to the doctor today against my own stubborn will!

I’m so sorry you’re feeling so crappy, Shelbee 🙁 It’s so hard to get showered and dressed and head out to see the doctor when you’re feeling so bad. I remember the days when my Mom would call the doctor and he’d set a time to come to the house (we lived in a small town and they still did that – even after housecalls weren’t a thing anymore). A big get-well hug to you! Thank you so much for the link-up!
Ruth
VogueFauxReal
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Ruth, thanks so much! Initially, I thought I had the flu and knowing that you can’t really treat it, I was using all the home remedies I know to ease the discomfort. But my throat became so sore and inflamed that I can barely turn my head and that is when I knew I had strep. So I finally dragged myself to the doctor this morning, much against my stubborn will, to confirm strep and get some antibiotics flowing. My flu test was negative thankfully. I should start to feel improved by tomorrow.

Whoa, thanks for featuring the toxic crafts supplies post. I didn’t know about asbestos crayons from China!
I AM well aware of the heavy metals used in my favorite paints (hello cadmium) and dangerous glues (rubber cement, spray adhesive). Sigh. Art is dangerous.
Get better! Hugs from across the continent.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you much, Anne! Art is dangerous! We have gotten some China crayons here and as soon as you open the package, you can smell the horrific scent of chemicals. It’s super gross. I finally gave in, against my own stubbornness, and went to the doctor today to confirm that I have a really bad case of strep throat (I can’t even turn my head without pain right now). But at least my flu test was negative. Let the antibiotics start working their magic!

Glad you got tested! I think I had strep last year. Very painful! I didn’t get tested. #morestubbornthanyou
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
That is quite the achievement being more stubborn than me! Ha. I got to where I couldn’t turn my head without pain. And when Jeff said to me, “I thought you were getting fat and then I realized your throat was so swollen that it just appeared as if you have a fat neck,” I had to give in to my stubbornness. Also, Jeff put it in perspective when he stated, “Hun, your Eastern medicine doesn’t seem to be working. You might wanna go get some Western medicine to help.” And what do you know, after one dose of amoxicillin, I am feeling significantly less terrible than I was a few hours ago. #mystubbornstreakbitmeintheass
