SIA Gallery of Style | Eise Eisinga Planetarium by Eise Eisinga
It is time for the final SIA Gallery for 2024. Please come back in the new year to join us for 2025’s Style Imitating Art series.
About Style Imitating Art
Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Style Imitating Art challenges us to draw style inspiration from pieces of art. Every other Monday, one of the hosts, acting as curator, selects an inspiration image that they will each post on their blogs. The following Monday, each host shares her art inspired outfit. Participants are invited to submit their art inspired outfits to the curator by 10:00 p.m. EST on the Tuesday following the hosts’ art inspired outfit posts. The following day, Wednesday, the curator will share all of the submissions on her blog.
You don’t have to be a blogger to join! You are invited to share your images on Instagram or other social media platforms. Just be sure to tag Salazar, Shelbee, and Marsha on Instagram or use #TeamLOTSStyle and #StyleImitatingArt so the hosts know you have joined. Go have some fun in your closets and join the SIA challenge next week!

The Gallery of Style
The submissions are in no particular order. If you have submitted a photo and I did not include it, please let me know and I will make the necessary edits. Sometimes emails get lost in the shuffle. You can read more details about each outfit by clicking on the individual blog links or the images in this post.
Sally of Within a World of My Own
Sally drew her outfit inspiration from the deep teal paint and rich brown wood shades in the planetarium. Then she added lots of accessories which include gold jewelry in circular and oval motifs to reflect the various rounded shapes in the orrery. Her brass lantern pendant is reminiscent of the 18th century metalwork featured in the photos of the planetarium. Sally also wore a vintage medallion pendant from a high school wizard costume because it has astronomical/astrological connotations to her. Sally says, “It is a bit of a departure from my usual style to wear a column of color and a topper layer without a bridge piece that contains both colors, but I really liked the result. It helps that the other elements of the outfit are very ‘me.’ I am happy this challenge inspired me to experiment with making simple solid colors look interesting.”
Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey
Salazar focused on the blue/green color of the ceiling and walls of the planetarium. The pattern on her waistcoat is a nod to the zodiac and celestial symbols on the ceiling. I think the pattern on her vest also resembles the pattern on the planetarium floor. And of course, Salazar had the perfect sun, moon, and stars brooch!
Marsha of Marsha in the Middle
Marsha wore a Gudrun Sjödén dress in a bright shade of teal featuring a print with scattered concentric circles which resemble little nebulas to me. The bits of gold color also mimic the gold painting of the orrery. She also added Gudrun Sjödén ivory slip and scarf that mimics the small circular print in her dress.
And Me!
I wore a black dress with silver stars scattered all over the skirt then I added teal and brown to reflect the colors of the planetarium. My plaid coat represented all of the colors as well and I wore moon and star jewelry to capture the essence of the planetarium.
I absolutely love every outfit that was inspired by this beautiful planetarium! Well done as always, ladies.
I hope you all have enjoyed this round of Style Imitating Art. We will be taking a short holiday break but please stop back on Monday, January 6, 2025, to see our first art inspiration of the new year.
Until then, happy holidays to you all! May your days be filled with peace, love, and joy.
