Road Tripping & Your Own Twist Link Up #57
Tomorrow is Take a Road Trip Day! Since we are leaving today for our annual road trip to Smoked Country Jam Bluegrass Festival in the Pennsylvania wilderness, I figured this was a great time to create a cute, comfortable outfit for 5 hours in the car.
The weather is looking to be mild with lows around 50˚F (10˚C) at night and highs around 75˚F (24˚C) during the day with rain flitting in and out of the forecast. So layers will be necessary because I get too cold at 65˚ and too hot at 75˚.
I threw together this easy outfit with my favorite tie dye joggers from Rainbow Zen. I now have these pants in 5 different colorways and I plan to pack all of them for the festival. I ordered this purple star sweatshirt from Torrid a few weeks ago with rewards cash. If I had paid money for it, I would have returned it. When I saw it online, for some reason, I thought it was a tee shirt hoodie. It wasn’t until I opened it that I realized it is a heavy sweatshirt material in a cropped style. Except for the color and the cute gold star, I absolutely hate it. It doesn’t fit me properly or comfortably. So this top will be moving on to someone or something else…oooh, maybe I can turn it into a star print tote bag! That would suit me much better.
I am keeping it wicked short today because I am writing all week’s posts in one day so I can get the house cleaned, the camping stuff packed, the grocery shopping done before leave time early this morning. Please stop back tomorrow for our Pearly edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and another link party!
About Your Own Twist
Your Own Twist is a monthly link party hosted by Monica of Monica Hayworth (formerly Jersey Girl, Texan Heart) and me on the third Thursday of every month with the goal of inspiring some of our friends to get creative with personal style. Unfortunately, I don’t think Monica is joining me this month.
The idea behind this collaboration is to take one common piece or theme and style it our own way with our own twist…Monica and I have both taken a lot of fashion inspiration from one another over the past few years even though we have totally different styles. It is always fun to see how we can interpret similar items in unique ways or what kind of twist we will each bring to the chosen theme.
Unfortunately, Monica is unable to join me this month. But I do hope to see her back to playing dress up soon!
We will let you know the themes well in advance in the event that you would like to use the theme for your own post and add it to the link party. However, any fashion posts are welcome regardless of whether you used the theme or not. Be sure to check out our upcoming style prompts below. You can read details about each theme here.

I thought I was the only one who got up this early! Glad to see somebody else stirring. I think your outfit is perfect for a road trip, and I love the shirt. I like crop shirts because I am short and they look normal on me. Most torrid T-shirts go down to my knees and I have to hem them. You, as usual look wonderful; you could wear a burlap bag and make it fashionable. Have a great time in Pennsylvania. My neck of the woods.

Hi Susan! It is so great to hear from you, my friend! I hope you are well. I can’t remember if the sweatshirt is a size 0 or 00, but if it is your size and you want it, I’ll send it to you. We had a wonderful time at the festival and have a family trip planned in July to Potter County again. We are staying at an airbnb for that trip though, thank goodness! Thanks so much for popping by!

Such a pity about the sweater, because the colour and star are really beautiful. Have a safe trip and a fabulous time at the festival!

Thanks, Nancy! I am going to figure out some way to upcycle this sweatshirt because it is too cute not to!

Oh Shelbee, this is a glorious outfit! I’m sorry the top is sweatshirt rather than a tee. But the look is an absolute winner. This annual trip always seems amazing! (Well except for the camping part. I used to love it when I was a teenager. Now camping to me is call Marriott. 🤣) Have a wonderful time!

Thank you so much, Michelle! This trip really is such a fun family experience! I am not a fan of camping at all but I make the best of it. I love every other thing about this festival except sleeping in a tent. My sleep is too sacred for that nonsense!

Thank you so very much, my friend! We did have a fabulous time except Ralph woke up on the last day with a terrible stomach bug and had to ride in the car for 5 hours all pukey and stuff. Poor kid. But at least it din’t ruin his weekend. He had a blast! And I didn’t take one single photograph. I turned my phone off on Thursday and didn’t turn it back on until Sunday. And that was fantastic!
