It is time for the next edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! Nancy and I have chosen Metallics as the theme for August because shiny things are always in fashion no matter the season. So won’t you join us this month with some of your favorite (or least favorite) metallic items from footwear to handbags to jewelry to those fabulous garments that have a little sprinkle of shine. Whether you love them or hate them, we want to see them!
It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for August by sending us some photos of your favorite (or least favorite) Metallic things with a brief description as to why you love or hate them!
You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing or accessory that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.
So let’s begin with some of the metallic items that I have shared on the blog over the years. Hopefully, they will inspire you enough to join us!
As you can see, most of my metallic things are footwear with a few other accessories and even fewer garments. But feel free to get creative and send us anything that would count as Metallic!
If you would like to participate in this month’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and be featured on our blogs, just email your photos with a brief description to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com by August 10. You are welcome to submit more than one item if you would like features on both blogs.
*By joining The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book, you agree to receive a monthly email reminder.

heck yeah! awesome! i love metallics and you have amassed yourself quite the collection! i went out thrifting yesterday in my hazmat suit, and bought even MORE metallic items–i can’t get enough!!
Eva, thanks so much! I thought I had more metallic clothing, but it’s mostly shoes. I do have a thing for metallic shoes! And I am dying laughing that you went shopping in your hazmat suit! I can’t do it! I had a panic attack in the grocery store today and was freaking hyperventilating inside the mask. I almost had to bolt outside to breathe, but I didn’t want to freak my kids out. So I pushed through because I needed groceries…if it were clothing, I probably would have just ran! But I want to see all the fabulous new old things you found!
PS this post was just a feast for my eyes! and jealousy!! hahaha! everyone of the outfits i would wear!
furry gold mules? come on! insanely fun!
ok i really gotta go because i could spend a half hour here studying each look!

Ha! I think it is safe to say you like metallics and have some spectacular good buys!! When I started your post, I thought, hmmm, I have a pair of metallic slides but that’s about it. But as I read on and scrolled down, I was reminded of all of the metallic in my closet. So glad you share your pieces to inspire the rest of us. Can’t wait to get mine hunted up. Loved the orange challenge and had my orange picked out but sent my photo too late. Will get on this right away!
My faves are your oxfords (with the anklets) and the metallic-heeled booties. Such swell pieces.
Leslie, thank you so much! I really thought I had more metallics in clothing pieces, but it turns out most of my metallics are shoes and bags. I always enjoy scrolling through all of my posts to find the things that fit our themes. It forces me to pay attention to different aspects of each outfit that I didn’t even consider when I created the outfit! I look forward to seeing your metallic submission! I am glad that I could inspire you and I hope you are enjoying the weekend.
