Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Jewelry with a Story & Link Up On the Edge #302

July’s Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is all about Jewelry with a Story. Do you have a special piece of jewelry with lots of sentimental value? We want to hear the stories behind your most interesting jewelry, where it came from, and why you love (or hate) to wear it.

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. You do not have to be a blogger to join. Anyone is welcome. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for July by sending some photos and descriptions of your favorite (or least favorite) Jewelry with a Story to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to info@nancysfashionstyle.com by July 10, 2022. You are welcome to submit more than one photo if you would like features on both of our blogs.

Now I am going to dig into the archives of my blog and see what interesting jewelry I can find to share. I have lots of Jewelry with a Story because I have some the most amazing friends and family who gift me very special things. And all of those gifted pieces are special to me because their stories are personal to me.

In fact, in just the past 2 weeks, I have shared 6 pieces of Jewelry with a Story.

My current favorite earrings featuring teal beads and brass keys were made and gifted to me by Michelle of My Bijou Life. She gave me a bag of gorgeous handmade pieces to choose what I wanted when I met her for lunch in Asheville in February. I am also wearing one of my favorite items that I received from a brand through blogging. A few years ago, I did a lot of reviews for Happiness Boutique and this crescent moon necklace has been a favorite in regular rotation since.
Original Post: Celebrate Pride & Your Own Twist Link Up #45 (June 16, 2022)
My kids picked out this colorful beaded tassel necklace from one of my favorite stores, Rainbow Zen, for my birthday this year and it has been working with so much of my summer wardrobe. Gifts from my children are the most special ones of all.
Original Post: Style Imitating Art: Karin at the Shore by Carl Larsson (June 26, 2022)
In this post, I am wearing a beaded heart necklace by Michal Golan. I had the opportunity to meet this amazingly talented artist and beautiful human being when I visited her studio in New York City back in 2016. She let me go through her discontinued lines and I bought about two dozen pieces for resale in my defunct traveling boutique. I sold some before shutting down and then kept the rest for myself. All of the pieces bring back fond memories of that trip.
Original Post: The Thrifty Six in Tropical Paradise & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #280 (June 21, 2022)
I bought this starfish necklace in a boutique in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, in 2017, and it always reminds me of the beauty and creativity in that sweet little mountain town. Jewelry always makes the best souvenirs when you visit places. I generally end up with a new piece every time I travel and then they forever have a story and memory attached to them.
Original Post: On a Journey to Tranquility with Zen Spirit Malas & Link Up On the Edge #300 (June 17, 2022)
And then there is my Shelbee Mala, inspired by me and currently available for sale at Zen Spirit Malas. You can read the very special story behind this fabulous piece of jewelry by clicking on my photo.

I have so many more sentimental pieces like the very special butterfly brooches from my mother-in-law, the Jamaican seashell jewelry from my friend Denise, the boldly unique hand-beaded fairy cabochon necklace made especially for me by Michelle, the beautiful turquoise beaded earrings that my kids gave me to for Mother’s Day, and the whimsical fish earrings that Archie made for me with his 3-Doodler pen. But I have to save some for the official Good Buy/Good-Buy Book post coming on July 15.

You get the idea, right? It seems that all of my jewelry has a special story which is probably why I struggle with sartorial hoarding issues!

Do you have special jewelry with a story? Be sure to send us your photos by July 10!
