Reminder: The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book-Handbags

It’s that time again when Nancy and I will be sharing the next edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book and we would love for you all to join us! In March, we are featuring Handbags and Purses. These could also include clutches, totes, backpacks, overnight bags. Really anything that holds your stuff! Whether it be your favorite purse or a bag that bombed, we want to see it!

What is The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book?

It is a monthly series that Nancy and I both publish on our blogs on the 15th of each month. Anyone who would like to participate and be featured can send us their photos with a short description explaining if the item was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to. We will give you the theme for the next month in each post. Photos will be due to us by the 10th of the month. So please join us for March by sending us some photos of your favorite (or least favorite) Handbags or Purses with a brief description as to why you love or hate them!

You can choose yourself whether you want to show a Good Buy (which is an item you are really exited about) or a Good-Bye (which is an item you are going to say good-bye to). We will keep purchasing Bad Buys every now and then for a variety of reasons…it was so cheap, you were in a hurry and really wanted (needed) to buy something, it fit almost quite right. But, of course, we also have those purchases that can make us so very happy. A piece of clothing or accessory that you have had for years and that you also wear a lot. Or something you bought on a holiday and every time you wear it you get that nostalgic holiday feeling back. Every month you can choose which item you want to submit. A Good Buy or a Good-Bye. We will provide the theme for each month. Photos should be submitted to us by the 10th of the month with a few sentences explaining why it is a Good Buy or Good-Bye.

I have never considered myself much of a handbag fanatic, but yet I have somehow amassed a heaping pile of all sorts of bags that take up a lot of room. But I am still searching for that perfect leather tote that goes with everything and will carry all my stuff plus my laptop. It is a purchase that I need to budget for, however, and I have yet to make that a priority. In the meantime, I am always grabbing up cute little statement bags on clearance for photo shoots even though I rarely actually use them for anything practical. But I suppose it is practical for me to use them for photo shoots.

Anyway, let’s take a look at some of the bags that have appeared on my blog. Hopefully, you find some inspiration and send us photos of your favorite (or least favorite) handbags for this edition of The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book!

As you can see, most of my handbags that appear here are tiny little impractical things that serve no purpose except to accessorize an outfit. My daily bag is usually a giant overstuffed something or other that I only change out when it begins to fall apart. But let’s see some of your bags!

If you would like to participate this month and be featured on our blogs, just email your handbag photos to shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com or to nancy@nancysfashionstyle.com by March 10.

Thanks, Kathrine! I don’t have any high end designer bags in my collection because that has never really been my thing, but I have collected lots of cuties over the years. Please do send us a photo of your new bag so we can feature it!

You have so many great outfits Shelbee and love all your handbags. Thanks for joining us at Warm And Cosy Outfit And Wait For Another Storm Weekend Link Up.

That’s quite an impressive collection, Shelbee! I’m like you – I have a daily handbag that looks like it’s holding a bowling ball but I use the rest of them as accessories. My husband complains that my daily bag is too big. Then when I’m carrying one of the small ones, he asks me to put his “wallet” (it’s a huge thing that holds all of his cards and checkbook) into my purse. Ha! You can’t have it both ways, buddy. I’ll have a look through my photos and closet and see what I can come up with for this Good Buy/Good Bye – I just love this series!

Ruth, thanks so much! I laughed out loud at your husband because mine does the same thing! While he doesn’t ask me to hold his wallet, he will often ask me for things like Tums or tissues or baby wipes or Tylenol. All of the things that add extra bulk to my overwhelming bag. Then he teases me for carrying so much stuff. And my response is the same as yours…you can’t have it both ways, buddy. I can carry all the shit that I know you are going to ask me for or I can carry a smaller bag and we will have to stop at convenience stores along the way to buy all the shit that you are going to ask me for! I do hope you can join us this month!

I never noticed before how many great handbags you have! Animal print bags were a revelation to me – they can really elevate outfits. I love your leopard wristlet, so cute, and the leopard and croc clutch.

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Gail! I didn’t realize how many I had either until I started going through old posts to share. And I only style a handbag with a fraction of my outfit shoots because I usually can’t be bothered with it!

Oh, my gosh!! You have so many great bags or purses. Wow! And so many great outfits, while we’re at it. So many varied looks. I love the spectrum…from elegant to fun to flirty. I have such tunnel vision. Or blinders. Would never think to put the leopard wristlet with the plaid skirt but it is perfect!! And the ivory bucket is such a versatile bag. In cleaning out my closet this week, I determined it is time for a new purse or two. And your post just emphasizes how effective a bag can be in pulling a look together.

You have so many fun clutches! 🙂

I love bags and I buy a lot of them, haha! I have litle mini crossbody ones for when I’m with the kids (as I have the baby bag for their water bottles and snacks) and if I’m at work I might use a big oversized bag or one of the mini ones again! I like to have variety 🙂

Luckily any bags that didn’t work for me I could sell and put the funds towards a bag I loved more – there was the beautiful Balenciaga bag I sold which paid for some of our Disneyland trip though, haha!

    • shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com

Thanks, Mica! I love your passion for your designer handbags! It was never something I really got into, but I have still managed to collect a ton of inexpensive bags. That is awesome that your Balenciaga bag helped pay for your Disney trip!

      xoxo
