One Furry Vest, Two Favorite Outfits
If you have been following my outfit of the day posts, you know I hate to pay full price for anything. But if I absolutely fall in love with something and it is still within my price point, I will consider a full price purchase. Just when Fall fashions started arriving at retailers, I spotted this cable knit back fur vest at Cato Fashions and I had to have it. I considered waiting for it to go on sale, but since it is such a hot trend this season I was afraid there would be none left. So I went for it! Then it hung in my closet for about two months before the weather cooled enough for me to wear it. Once it was cool enough for my new furry vest, I realized it was a wonderful topper for skirt and sweater outfits. It adds an extra layer of warmth with some extra interest. Both times that I have worn this vest though, it wasn’t a planned piece of my outfit. It came as an after thought. And it worked perfectly. And it is so super soft and cozy.
First I styled it over a very soft V-neck wine colored sweater paired with a floral printed flouncy skirt on a wine background and the same color tights. I went with my mid-height distressed dark brown boots in order to keep my base layer as monochromatic as possible. I opted for this delicate multi-strand beaded choker style necklace because the colors of the beads picked up the wine, brown, and gray tones in my outfit pieces.
Next I styled my furry vest with a thrifted plaid midi skirt in a stretch knit and a tunic style black turtleneck sweater. You can’t see my tights in the photos, but they are a turquoise color which picked up the same color stripe through the plaid in the skirt (they peaked out when I walked). I wore my over the knee cognac boots because the taller height of the boots worked better with the midi skirt. When I tried knee high boots with a tiny bit of tights sticking out, it looked completely frumpy! I accessorized with a long silver ring necklace and of course, my furry vest!
Have you tried the furry vest trend? What is your favorite way to wear it?
Keeping it on the edge,
Shelbee

Super cute!! To complete the look, I just need the skirt, boots and vest!! Ha. I don’t know why but I wondered what the fur vest would also look like w just dark jeans and the maroon/wine shirt. Then again, I am a puffer vest kind of girl and often dress down instead of “up”. Thanks for the inspiration to try “up” with a vest.

Aimee, you are too funny! Puffer vests with jeans always looks adorable anyway! Throw on a cute scarf and voila! you have a completely accessorized fabulous outfit! But I will try the furry vest with jeans next time…stay tuned!
P.S. I look forward to a selfie of you dressed “up”!

Furry vests are such a useful addition to AW wardrobe. I’d like to see it styled up with jeans too. I have a short one of these, but seem to have lost it somewhere…Nice to meet you and thanks for visiting my blog!

Thanks, Anna! I definitely need to try my vest with jeans. I bought it with a black faux leather pencil skirt and then always had skirt in my head for pairing it, but jeans will be my next furry vest pairing!

Great vest! I also like to get a deal, but if you really want an item and it is popular, it makes sense to pay full price. I have often missed out on items because I waited for them to go on sale.
I love how you styled the vest. Seems very versatile, and I can imagine how soft it is! 🙂

Thanks, Andrea! And even at full price, I don’t normally shop super high end brands anyway, so the price points are reasonable anyway.
