Nordgreen: A Timeless Gift with a Story & Link Up On the Edge #232
In 2017, Danish partners Pascar Sivam and Vasilij Brandt launched Nordgreen with the mission of building a brand that is committed to sustainable practices while also creating a beautiful and functional line of designer timepieces. The name itself represents their dedication to designing classic and minimalist watches that stay true to a Nordic aesthetic while utilizing green methods in support of the environment.
Peoples from the Nordic region feel a very strong connection to nature and an appreciation for its ability to thrive through the challenges of time and humanity’s systematic destruction of our natural world. Based on this idea, Nordgreen’s partners feel an inherent responsibility to social and environmental causes that serve to improve the state of our world for every being on this planet. Sustainability is a way of life for Nordic folks and should become a way of life for the rest of the world if we hope to save our planet for future generations.
As part of their initiative, Nordgreen has also launched a Giving Back Program which is designed to support health-related, educational, and environmental issues on a global scale. They are currently partnered with three different programs to support a healthy and happier human race…Water for Good which helps to provide clean water for people in the Central African Republic, Pratham UK which supports education for children in India, and Cool Earth which is dedicated to preserving the rain forests in Latin America.
With a simple purpose, aesthetic appeal, and a deep-rooted responsibility to give back, I felt like Nordgreen was perfectly aligned with my very own feelings of obligation to making this world a better place. So when they reached out to me to review one of their stunning timepieces, I did not hesitate to agree.
However, I have about a dozen different watches that I rarely wear these days with so much time spent at home. But my husband has been hinting to me for a while now that he needs a new watch and would like a dressier one for his post-Army retirement days. So this was a wonderful opportunity to get him the perfect retirement gift.
By the way, Jeff will be officially retired from the military on August 1, 2021, after serving in active duty for 22 years. However, we will be celebrating this amazing accomplishment on February 26 when he gets to walk that long awaited stroll across a stage as he transitions from soldier to civilian. And I could not be a prouder wife. He has served his country well for more than half of his life and he deserves all the accolades that one can possibly get. Including a gorgeous new watch!
Not only am I proud of his military service, but I am also totally impressed with his ability to work the camera from the other side! Jeff was the best sport ever when I told him he could only have his new watch if he modeled it for this blog post. He promptly agreed to that stipulation and was a total pro with his poses. He had me laughing so hard during this shoot! It really was so much fun to switch roles and flip the camera on him.
From the wonderful collection of military watches, Jeff chose the Pioneer Watch with a navy dial and gunmetal mesh band. This is the exact same watch that I would have chosen for him. Blue is favorite color so I knew that he would like a blue face on his new timepiece. He is also very minimalist in his wardrobe choices, so a simple sleek watch that can be worn dressy or casual was the ideal choice for him. It really is a stunning watch.
Award winning designer Jakob Wagner created these elegant timepieces with the Nordic mindset that contemplation comes first and will lead to artistic inspiration. He will first find the meaning he wishes to convey through his design and then looks to the harmony of nature to find his design vision.
Sustainability is present in every step of the Nordgreen watch making process from design to manufacturing to packaging and shipping. To offset carbon emissions generated by various aspects of running a business, Nordgreen has committed to planting thousands of trees for a healthier environment. They strictly adhere to the highest standards of Danish labor practices while also ensuring that any overseas production facilities adhere to the same practices. All of the packaging used for shipment of their products is crafted from sustainable materials as well.
When the watch arrived, I was thoroughly impressed with the the beautiful minimalist and sustainable packaging used. They included a logo face mask and a tote bag made from recycled material which are both practical and useful little extras. Nordgreen is certainly a company that I can and will gladly support.
If you have been struggling with gift ideas for any occasion, why not consider Nordgreen? Not only do their timepieces make meaningful and timeless gifts, but your purchase will benefit the environment and humanity. Who doesn’t want to stand behind a business model like that?

I have a few Nordgreen watches Shelbee. I love how easy it is to change the straps xx
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I think I first heard of Nordgreen from your blog, Laurie! So when they reached out to collaborate, I already knew what a wonderful company they were, so I agreed immediately. We didn’t get extra straps this time, but that is something I may have to add to Jeff’s civilian accessory wardrobe! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

So the real question is, when Jeff retires will he pursue modeling? He does it so well! Ha!! I don’t wear a watch but I do appreciate a good timepiece. I am excited for you and your husband as you approach his retirement – a new and exciting chapter awaits!
xo,
Kellyann
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks, Kellyann! I asked him the same question! He just rolled his eyes at me and told me to shut up! Haha. I appreciate a beautiful timepiece as well but with never leaving my house I don’t really have much use for one these days. Plus jewelry on my wrists and fingers is very uncomfortable to me and so I don’t wear rings, bracelets, or watches very often anyway. Have a great weekend!

Sheila (of Ephemera)
That really is a lovely watch, very classy and classic, but still with some personality. The blue face is very striking. Nice to find an ethical company!
Jeff is a fabulous model, work it, work it! *snaps* L and I tried him photographing me, but we clash too much (we each need to be in charge). Auto-timer the whole way since then.
Congrats on the retirement, and on your serving in the military, Jeff. You can’t change the world by doing nothing.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Sheila, thanks so much! Yeah, I definitely was all on board with Nordgreen because of their ethics and their commitment to beautiful quality timepieces as well. Jeff is such a ham! We were laughing so hard taking these photos. I have a tripod and a remote for when I have to take my own photos, but I do much prefer Jeff taking them. I am way more comfortable with him running the camera. I will pass on your message to your Jeff! Happy weekend, my friend!

Congratulations on your hubby’s soon retirement and his work in the service. So nice you gave him this attractive watch. Love the watch face and color. I know what you mean about a collection of watches, Jord , Nordgreen… My dad used to say I could sell watches out of a trenchcoat in the city, LOL!
Your hubby did well posing 🙂

Thanks so much, Jess! We both really like this watch! I usually end up choosing men’s watches anyway because I prefer them a little bigger and bulkier. And then we can just share them! This is an exciting time for us as we transition away from military life. I am excited to see what the future has in store! I hope you are having a lovely weekend…selling watches out of your trench coat. Hahahaha

Another model in the family. I will have to check out that company.
Thank you to Jeff for his service. The Army will be less without him. If you guys ever make out to SF, I will buy you all a meal at the Kezar Pub on Stanyan and walk 15 minutes or so through the Upper Haight and an ice cream at Ben and Jerry’s on the corner of Haight and Ashbury in honor of his service.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Aw, Patrick, thank you so much! You are so kind and generous! I hope we can make it back to SF one day! Maybe we will get a second honeymoon one of these years and come back to the place of our first honeymoon…we spent a day in San Francisco then a few days with our BFF who lived in Merced at that time (he lives in Watertown now, just a mile down the road from us), then a few days in Yosemite. It was a wonderful trip and I would love to do something similar again!
