Move Me Brightly with Rosegal & Link Up On the Edge #162
I guess I am on a bit of a tie dye kick and channeling my inner hippie vibes lately. Although it doesn’t take much work to channel those vibes as I am becoming more and more in tune with the Universe and the energy that connects us all. My husband calls me Dharma as I start spewing off how the Universe responds to me and sends me what I need when I don’t even realize I need it.
Recently, the Universe has called upon me to help a beloved old friend in need. And I am willing to accept the task as it is my turn to give something back. I will do it with an abundance of love and care for I have received so much already. It simply cannot always be me receiving and accepting the gifts that are provided to me. There comes a time when we must reciprocate and give of ourselves if we have any hope of continuing a cycle of love and kindness.
For some reason, tie dye prints are reminding me of the beautiful organized chaos of the Universe. To the untrained eye, it may appear as if things are just swirling around with no direction or meaning. But upon closer investigation, you can see the magical workings of a perfectly tuned masterpiece. When I spotted this brightly colored tie dye kangaroo pocket hoodie from Rosegal, it seemed like it was meant to be mine. I am not one to wear hoodies very often, but when something is meant to be, who am I to argue?
In the spirit of tie dye and the Universe and the way she connects everything, I figured some Grateful Dead quotes would be appropriate to share here. Here are some of my favorites…
“Inspiration, move me brightly.”
Grateful Dead
“Without love in the dream, it will never come true.”
Grateful Dead
“If you get confused, just listen to the music play.”
Grateful Dead
“Sometimes we live no particular way but our own.”
Grateful Dead
“When I had no wings to fly, you flew me.”
Grateful Dead
“Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right.”
Grateful Dead
“Say what I mean and I don’t give a damn, I do believe and I am who I am.”
Grateful Dead
“What is the secret of this tie that binds
Grateful Dead
Two souls in communion, both body and mind
Is it special magic or just the nature of things?”
“To get really high is to forget yourself. And to forget yourself is to see everything else. And to see everything else is to become an understanding molecule in evolution, a conscious tool of the universe.”
Jerry Garcia
“There’s a lot there to enlarge you. That’s part of the value of being in an extended family is that it enlarges you. It makes you bigger. It makes you more.”
Jerry Garcia
“The nature of what we’re doing is something, which is by its very nature, is non-formulaic. There’s no way that you can make it happen by intention alone. It’s something that you have to sort of allow it to happen, and you have to allow for it to happen.”
Jerry Garcia
“It’s not enough to be the best at what you do. You must be perceived as the only one who does what you do.”
Jerry Garcia
“It’s pretty clear now that what looked like it might have been some kind of counterculture is, in reality, just the plain old chaos of undifferentiated weirdness.”
Jerry Garcia
“What is life but being conscious? And good and evil are manifestations of consciousness. If you reject one, you’re not getting the whole thing that’s there to be had.”
Jerry Garcia
“We’re just inviting adventure into our life, and adventure carries a little baggage.”
Bob Weir

Jaymie of Everyday Style by Jaymie Ashcraft shared her post, Friday Favorites! Green with Envy. You all know how much I love any shade of green and a rich shade of emerald is utter perfection for Fall and Winter. Such a great outfit!
Tricia of Covet by Tricia shared her post, Fringe Skirt Outfit Ideas – Fall Street Style 2019. This fringe skirt is seriously the cutest thing for a little street style vibe to step into Fall. Paired with the over the knee boots, Tricia looks ready to take on the world with all sorts of sass. That is my kind of style!

I confess. I was rather anti Grateful Dead due to all the Grateful Dead-inspired jam bands I was subjected to in the ’70s. Your quotes “may” have persuaded me to give them a second chance. Don’t get me wrong — their music is classic, the songs are great, the writing is great, I get that! It was a case of over saturation. I currently have the same issue with the Beatles, who my circle of LA Pop music friends revere to an obnoxious degree.
That’s me, veering away from the crowd!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
And this is one of the things about you that I adore, Anne! Your fearlessness in veering away from the crowd. Clearly, I don’t follow the crowd all too often either. I am only recently appreciating the Grateful Dead ever since I got into the bluegrass scene this summer. I totally understand how over saturation can turn one off. But maybe you will rediscover a liking for them now that I have “maybe” persuaded you to revisit the music! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I recently heard a tune on a local indie college station, Spotified it, and said to self, Oh my goodness! Greatful Dead, not so bad! Yes, the bluegrass crowd is definitely into The Dead. And into the tie dye!
You have a great one too! I’m skipping work today to go on a fun field trip with my textile group. Woohoo!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Right, it isn’t so bad?! The Dead is rooted in bluegrass so it’s natural that the bluegrass loves them. Enjoy your field trip!

Shazam, not Spotify. So old, so confused. Haha.
The field trip was awesome! Worth skipping work!
We went “behind the scenes” at the Wende Museum, looking at artifacts from the Cold War, from the Eastern Bloc side. We got to tour the Textiles Lab/ Curatorial Workshop and learned about their collection of Russian Hippie stuff and Hungarian Textiles!

The tie dye top is so fun, especially with the statement magenta boots, they are such a focal point for your outfit, even with the bright tie dye!
Hope that you are having a lovely weekend 🙂

Thanks so much, Mica! I wasn’t loving the hoodie with jeans as it felt a little boring. The boots took it over the top in the most perfect way, I think! Have a great weekend.

This is an exceptionally unique tie dye top Shelbee! You have reinterpreted the 60’s vibe with modern funk.
My husband was/is a loyal Grateful Dead fan. We were at several concerts in the mid 70’s and 80’s. Nice use of lyrics and philosophy here!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Jude! I like that description…60’s vibe with modern funk. Very cool. And I have to say that I am a bit jealous of anyone who has seen The Grateful Dead in concert. But I am having fun making my rounds through the bluegrass circuit!

That tye die on that top reminds me of the inside of a geode, which is a beautiful thing! As are those pink velvet boots. Oh my. They are special! Love the GD quotes. I’ll have to show this post to my husband who is a HUGE fan.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Theresa, thanks so much! The print is very much like the inside of a geode, I agree. I am so ready to start wearing all my velvet things including the boots. But it is still a bit too warm. I hope your husband enjoys my collection of quotes!
