Lunch and Errands
Today, after I dropped the kids at daycare, I had a few hours to run some errands and enjoy a leisurely lunch with my best friend E and my mother-in-law. The weather is starting to cool down a bit, so it was the perfect opportunity to try out my new “real” boyfriend jeans. I had been looking for a pair of darker wash boyfriend jeans, but since I didn’t really need a new pair of jeans, I didn’t want to pay the price of the oh-so-trendy style. And I had recently read on a fashion blog somewhere (and I cannot remember where, so I do apologize) that a cheaper option for boyfriend jeans is actual men’s jeans. They are, after all, the inspiration behind boyfriend jeans. So I checked out the men’s clearance in my local Kohl’s. And I found a pair of dark wash distressed jeans by Mark Anthony that fit oh so perfectly with just the right drape and they were sturdy and soft at the same time. They originally retailed for $70, but with the clearance price and an extra 20% off clearance and coupons that I had, I scored these babies for $9! And they are my new favorite jeans, so you can’t really beat that. I think they actually fit my body better than any boyfriend jeans I have ever tried on in the women’s department!
I paired them with a navy blue graphic tank top with stars and stripes and embellished silver stars. Then I layered this terribly adorable red plaid button down sleeveless shirt dress on top like a vest. Since I was going to be walking a lot, I decided on my incredibly comfortable red and blue floral sneakers by Vans. And I dressed it up just a bit with a chunky silver necklace.
Again, I tried some pattern mixing with the graphic tank, the plaid shirt dress, and the floral sneakers. But they are all in the same color scheme so I think it tied together quite nicely. And I felt sort of breezy and cool in this outfit! What is your most comfortable errand-running ensemble? Have you ever tried men’s jeans as an alternative? What kind of add-ons do you use to feel a little edgier? Please share your fashion secrets in the comments. I would love to hear!
Keeping it on the edge,
