Little Red Dress & Your Own Twist Link Up #3
Today we have another guest blogger! Ewa from 60 Plus Experience is joining us with the red dress theme, with a little bit of a twist. Why not wear a long red vest instead of a red dress if you don’t have a red dress?
When Monica presented red dresses as the theme for this month’s Your Own Twist Link Up, my brain immediately went to holiday inspired fancy red dresses like this lacy number I wore last year for New Year’s Eve or something sexy and sassy like this little red dress I wore for my professional photo shoot two summers back.
I didn’t really want to repeat one of these dresses and I certainly had no reason to go purchase a new little red dress specifically for one blog post. But the shopping goddesses were on my side when I saw this cute red sweatshirt dress on clearance at Charlotte Russe. Not even thinking about this red dress theme, I loved this comfortable dress with the contrasting pink and white racer stripes down the sleeves and snatched it up with the sole of intention of lounging around the house in it.
Enter these sassy mid calf white booties, also from Charlotte Russe, and this fun black and white snowflake scarf found on clearance last year at Old Navy. It was one of those purchases that was added to my online shopping cart for a few dollars in order to reach the free shipping amount. I’m not the only person who does that, am I? I topped the whole thing off with my Old Navy black moto jacket and headed to the park for some photos back in November before the snow buried us here in the North Country.
Still completely off my radar for the red dress theme, I contemplated different post topics where I could use these photos. Then like a lightbulb, it finally dawned on me that I needed a red dress and now I had a red dress…albeit it’s a super casual red dress. But that’s what this collaboration is all about anyway…putting your own twist on the stated theme. So with all that mumbly jumbly stuff being said, I give you my take on the little red dress. Casual. Comfortable. Sassy. Perfect for the holidays or for any other time really.
Looking for more style inspiration? Be sure to check out Monica’s little red dress (also paired with a black moto jacket but much fancier than my dress) as well her mama Ewa’s long red vest…her own twist on the theme…brilliant, classy, and super stylish! How do you wear your little red dress?
Our Featured Bloggers from last month’s linkup are Chez Rama and Living on Cloud Nine. We loved their outfits!
If you would like to show us your own twist on our themes, just share a post using the theme as inspiration and link it below! But remember, you can link any type of post that you’d like as well! It doesn’t have to be a little red dress. Also, please join us in January with your favorite Body Positive inspired piece styled to make you feel fabulous!

Fabulous dress Shelbee! I love that it is so casual it could be worn with my new wedge sneakers! I need to keep my eyes open for a similar one. I am also obsessed lately with white booties and have a pair on order, fingers crossed they work. Ewa had a great idea to wear a vest – how clever! Fun link up!

Thanks so much, Kellyann! And wedge sneakers! Yes! A sweatshirt dress would be wicked cute with wedge sneakers. I apparently have become very obsessed with white booties myself because I keep adding new ones to my collection. I now have 4 different pairs. But next I think I want white tall white boots. I think those would be super dramatic and fun! Have the most fantastic day, my friend!

I love red all year long. But it has this special moment in my heart at this time of the year. Your dresses are so pretty. I love how easy it is to style it. The leather jacket, the scarf, and the red flawless dress look fabulous on you Shelbee.
Thank you and Monica for featuring me this month. I am honored to be in your post today.
Have a fabulous weekend and happy holiday

Thank you so much, Maria! These boots are a lot of fun, but the heel is a bit too high for all day wear!

I love your style. I admire how you just own who you are and what you like. This is exactly what I am trying to teach my teenage daughter. Thank you for sharing.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Angela, thank you so very much for this lovely compliment! If we can’t be comfortable and happy with ourselves, how can we expect others to be comfortable and happy around us? Maybe that is a good question to pose to your daughter! We should not spend the best parts of our lives learning to own and love who we are! But it sure sounds like your daughter has a wonderful role model to guide her through this crazy journey of life! I wish you so many blessings this holiday season!

Thanks so much, Nailil! I have 4 different pairs! There are so many cute ones out there to choose from and I keep seeing ones I like better than the ones I already have! You should totally get a pair though, they are fun and dramatic! Have a wonderful weekend.

Nicole at High Latitude Style
Thanks for joining the Top of the World Style linkup party. Can you add me to your email list for this new party? Thanks. Great job on wearing red-white and black together. It’s not easy as one really has to pay attention not to look like Mrs Santa Claus. You look stunning. Love your white booties. Still can’t make my mind up on getting a pair too. I am always worried how they keep their color.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much, Nicole! I have been using my regular email list for this link up party, too. Have you not been getting the emails about my link ups? I think I need to revise my list anyway, so thanks for the reminder!
And I didn’t even think of the possibility of resembling Mrs. Claus, but now I see how that could easily happen! I have 4 different pairs of white booties and so far the color has been fine. Although, I don’t really wear them all that often so that probably helps.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Gorgeous outfit! Love that you wore a leather jacket. Classic with a side of edginess <3
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much, Tianna! I have quite a collection of leather jackets and I rarely get them to wear them because we go from summer heat to bitter cold so quickly where I live. I hope you have a fantastic weekend, my friend!

Love a red dress! Especially for the holiday season! What a great cozy find you’ve got there… And I have to say I have a bad case of boot envy going on.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Liz! I get boot and shoe envy over just about any shoes or boots I see! Ha. I want them all. Is that a ridiculous thing to yearn for? Owning all the amazing shoes ever created? I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend! Now go get yourself some cute white booties!
