Keeping Cozy with EvaTrends & Link Up On the Edge #84
Do you remember my wish list post a few weeks ago when I introduced a new brand collaboration with EvaTrends? I shared a bunch of adorable pieces that are on my wish list and today I am featuring the first one of three items that they sent to me for review.
*This is a sponsored post. This kaftan dress was provided to me for purposes of this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
*Dress: Moonlight Dance Tassel Kaftan Dress in Coffee c/o EvaTrends. Available in 2 colors.
I know Spring is just around the corner and she keeps stopping by for brief visits every few days or so, but I have to be honest, it is still really cold here. So please bear with me while I continue sharing warm knits and winter like outfits with you. Add to the colder temperatures my daily perimenopausal cold flashes that make me shiver from the inside out and I will probably be wearing cozy sweaters well into June!
*Blanket Scarf: Shelbee’s Shoppe. Similar here, here, and here.
This heavy knit kaftan dress definitely locks in some warmth. It is super soft and substantial and feels like I am wrapped up in my favorite snuggly blanket. I am not usually drawn to shades of brown, but this rich coffee color really gave me all pleasant feels of cuddling up in front of a dim fire.
*Boots: Lucky Brand Basel Booties.
Because it is still winter, I was not hesitant about piling on the layers. I combined two plaids in my tunic and blanket scarf and added my most comfortable boyfriend jeans. And since I have been really wanting to combine some leopard with my plaid, this was the perfect opportunity to get my leopard print booties on the blog.
*Necklace: Target. Similar here, here, and here.
I wore this outfit for a weekend of traveling in the car. For five hours each way last weekend on consecutive days, this was the most perfect traveling ensemble ever. I’m not going to lie to you…I wore the same outfit two days in a row. It was that comfortable. The only thing I changed was my shirt underneath, wearing a sold black long sleeve tee the first day, and fresh socks and underwear, of course! I didn’t need a coat because the kaftan provided just the right coverage for short runs to and from the car.
*Plaid Tunic: Old Navy. Similar here, here, and here.
I am looking forward to weather that is a little warmer so I can style this cutie over short sleeves and tights. I love this piece so much that I am kind of thinking I might need it in black as well.
*Jeans: White House Black Market. Similar here.
Stay tuned for my other two pieces from EvaTrends coming soon. EvaTrends is offering my readers 15% OFF your entire order. Just use discount code SH15 at checkout.
And now your favorite posts from last week.
Carrie of A Stylish Fit shared her post, Winter Style, where she is featuring this gorgeous pair of purple trousers with leopard ballet flats. I always love Carrie’s style and this outfit is no exception. If you are wanting some fashion inspiration, you need to be following Carrie’s blog!
And Chanda of Birth of a Fashion Blogger is tapping into some serious Spring vibes in her cold Michigan climate with her post, Wishful Thinking. I love every element of this outfit, but there is a super sassy surprise on the back of Chanda’s boots. Head on over to check it out!
How are you transitioning your wardrobe from Winter to Spring?
Keeping it on the edge,

I love the color and with those Leopard shoes it looks fantastic! Your hair seems so long! It is wonderfull!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much, Nancy! The rich coffee color really caught my attention, too. And this has been a really long growing out process for my hair from a pixie cut two years ago. I think it is the first time in my life that I am actually loving my hair longer. Have a great weekend, my friend.

Thank you, Laurie! We just got hit with a snow storm last night, too. I was hoping this was over for the season, but here we are right smack in the middle of a winter wonderland again. Stay warm, my friend, and have a lovely weekend!

Wow I need this now, we’ve been hit by the Beast from the East and I’m hating it! I bet you were really fed up of your snow, I can’t even imagine. Jacqui

Jacqui, it is so comfortable! I wore it over leggings and a turtleneck for a girls’ movie night last night and it was seriously just like wearing a blanket. We have been enjoying by some milder temperatures lately, but got hit with a snowstorm last night. Ugh. I am so over it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

You look super cozy Shelbee! Love the leopard booties. I love layers and with our record high heat I haven’t been able to wear any – bummer! The good news is that it’s going to get cooler this weekend and I can’t wait – I am a cold weather loving gal stuck in a hot climate! Happy weekend friend.

Thanks so much, Kellyann! I totally snuggled up this kaftan dress for a girls’ movie night at my friend’s house last night, too. It was like wearing jammies! When it gets too hot I still layer with lightweight kimonos or vests because I am also a girl who needs my layers. Have a great weekend, my friend.

Love this fun caftan dress! It’s cool how it’s for fall and winter and not summer. The layering is perfect!

Thanks so much, Kathrine! The way I have been experiencing perimenopausal cold flashes, it might be perfect for me for Spring and Summer, too! I am always freezing these days! Have a wonderful weekend.

What a cute dress! I do not have a dress of this style in my closet. So now it’s on the list! I have never heard of this brand before, but I’m going to check them out!

Thanks so much, Nina! It is so comfortable and warm and the quality is really quite fantastic, too! I am seriously considering getting it in black as well. They have a bunch of adorable dresses. Let me know if you end up getting something!

This is a very cute and cozy look! I love how the print on your booties is small. I have a pair and the spots are larger and they are a little much! I will get used to them though because I love them. That poncho looks so warm and I love the longer style like that. Fabulous!

shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Cheryl! I had been wanting leopard booties for so long and I just couldn’t find a pair that called to me. They did all seem to be too big of a print and I was searching for more subtle. I actually found these Lucky Brand ones at the Military Exchange on clearance from $129 down to $32. So I scooped them up! And this poncho is the most comfortable thing ever! Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely weekend.

I can totally see why you’d want to wear that twice in a row for a long drive, Shelbee! I love it!

You look adorable as always…Great job on the knit dress and I’m with you on dressing weather appropriate! I’ll bear with gladly. I despise being cold due to poor fashion choices. It just makes no sense. Love those booties!! 🙂
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Chrissy! I am always so cold lately, too, with menopausal cold flashes so I need extra layers all the time! Have a fabulous weekend, my friend.

Great mix of patterns and textures. That kaftan looks so cozy amd comfortable! Love that you layered a necklace under your scarf. By the way, that scarf is a great mix of colors. Enjoy your weekend!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thank you so much, Jennie! This was definitely a fun outfit to style and play with the patterns. The kaftan is just so much brown that I had to break it up with necklaces and prints and such! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend!

Thanks so much, Amanda! I am kind of wishing I had owned this sweater dress all winter instead of right at the end of winter. I am pretty certain it will be on constant rotation next year, for sure! Have a great weekend!

Nicole at High Latitude Style
Given that it is still -18F or so outside, there is no way to already transition to spring. But the sun is back.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I feel your pain and your cold, Nicole! We had a few days of milder temperatures and it was glorious, but we are also still in the heart of winter in northern NY, just like you are in Alaska! So I will just stick with my cozy clothes for a while longer. Have a great weekend.

Lisa Richardson
Well I didn’t really realize it was a dress until I read what it was called, but I guess it is. LOL Love the color and with the jeans and booties and scarf and plaid top…I guess you could just say I loved it all.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Lisa, thank you so much! It is kind of weird to call it a dress. It is more like a giant oversized poncho! But they called it a dress and I suppose it fits the definition of a dress. In any event, it is amazingly cozy and comfortable no matter what we call it! Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a fantastic weekend.

Lana

Love that chocolate kaftan. It is perfect for our cold-weather gals. You styled it so well. The combination of double plaids and leopard was genius! And I have worn a cozy, comfy outfit two days in a row, too.
I am so excited about you being part of the first Sunday Showcase. Yeay!!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Ada! I have worn this cozy kaftan 3 times already. It really is like being wrapped in a warm blanket. I will send you my photos soon for the Sunday Showcase! Thanks so much for inviting me to be the first co-host!

Suzanne Smith
Hi Shelbee! I love how you’ve mixed two plaids with your leopard booties and the sweater looks so cozy! I know you’re ready for some warmer weather, but at least I don’t see any snow today! I hope you’re having a great weekend!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Suzanne, thanks so much! This was definitely some fun pattern mixing to put together. The kaftan was just so much brown, I had to break it up a bit. And there unfortunately is a lot of snow outside again. We got hit by this winter storm that just swept through the northeast! Enjoy your weekend, my friend.

Maureen
Beautiful kaftan dress paired perfectly with your leopard booties and plaid scarf. I love the brown color, such a rich hue and lovely neutral to go with pretty much anything and everything! The fringes are so fun and a nice additional detail to the dress. I know it’s been cold lately but probably not as cold as what you guys are experiencing in the East Coast. I think if this weather stays this way, you will have to get the black too! 😉
Maureen | http://www.littlemisscasual.com
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Maureen, thank you so much! I definitely love the shade of brown of this kaftan as it is rich and bright enough to pair with black as well. And it looks like we will be having cold weather for a while still…so perhaps that black one will make its way to my closet! Thanks for stopping by, my friend. I hope you are having a fabulous weekend.

Thanks so much, Cheryl! This is definitely one of my coziest pieces! And thank you for the compliment on my hair. I don’t do anything special to my hair…except I do have a tendency to brush it multiple times throughout the day.

Ponchos are such a great layering piece!
http://www.mylittlenest.org

Yes, they are, Ruth! I just love them so much, but I need the weather to be a tiny bit warmer for them because you can’t put a coat over them! Thanks for stopping by, my friend. Have a fabulous week!

Laura || Walking in Memphis in High Heels
I love the shoes and the poncho! I love the fringe on the bottom, and it’s really great for layering and sometimes when it’s not frigid out.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Laura! That is the only problem with ponchos…you can’t put a coat over them comfortably, so they are really only good when it’s not too cold!

The knitted kaftan looks super snuggly. I prefer looser garments like that for travelling, otherwise I feel too trussed up, especially driving. I love those leopard print boots!
