Japanese Algae and #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #4
In sticking with my #SpreadTheKindness theme, I need to share with you all my fabulous new necklace which I recently purchased at a vendor show where I had set up Shelbee’s Shoppe. My table was right across from a wonderful lady named Valerie who is the owner of Queen Thumb Creations. Valerie’s shop specializes in “handcrafted rustic decor of a wide variety ranging from live plant terrariums, faerie garden accessories, seasonal decor, and driftwood art”. She also cultivates these adorable Japanese algae balls and sells them in a variety of glass jars, some so tiny you can wear them as a pendant. I ended up purchasing one to wear around my neck and one in a lightbulb shaped jar for my boys.
For a woman who has never been able to keep a plant alive in all of my 42 years of life, these little plant balls are ideal. According to Valerie, you cannot kill these things unless you are really trying to kill them! You basically just need to change their water every now and then. That’s where I was sold. Plus they are super cool and unique pieces to own. And you get to wear nature in the form of jewelry. How amazing is that? For more details on the care and the how they grow, please contact Valerie via her Facebook page (Queen Thumb Creations). And check out how I styled my fun new necklace below!
Can you tell it’s cold outside?! ‘Tis the season in the North Country of Upstate New York. It is cold. It is snowy. And it will remain this way from now until early May! So much for cute shoes! All shoes get ruined around here.
And let me tell you, I nearly froze my bum off trying to get photos of my dress without my cozy cardigan!
Outfit details:
Dress: Old Navy (This print seems to be sold out.)
Boots: Cato Fashions (Sold Out).
Necklace: Queen Thumb Creations.
Cardigan, Tights, Scarf, Mittens: All have been hiding in my closet for quite a long time.
If you are looking for a unique gift that will last a lifetime (for yourself or for someone else), definitely check out Queen Thumb Creations. Valerie offers so many beautiful things! You won’t be disappointed!

It is so cool, Jodie! My thumb is so black, it isn’t even a joke! I have even managed to kill cacti! Although I have two small cactus plants that are still holding on. Maybe algae is the way the to go! Thanks for stopping by.

So you are spending what you earned immediately? Haha, just kidding. But plants? Are they plants? I just thought it were stones. I like the necklace and the bubble, its different.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I do spend at these events. Every. Damn. Time. Hahaha! But I am supporting local small businesses when I do. And I always sure not to spend more than I’ve made! Yeah, the little green ball inside is an algae plant. And as it grows it remains in that ball shape. They are really cool! Thanks for stopping by, Nancy!

That dress is adorable, friend!! It’s in one of those colours and prints that simply endear 🙂 it’d be interesting to see how it pairs with a leather cage/cincher thingamajig. Or duster vest.
p/s I am really liking this new layout, so clean.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Sheela! I love this teal color, too. And I need a leather cage/cincher thingamajig! I am glad you are liking the layout. I was so resistant to changing the format but it had to be done! Have you had a chance to check out some of the Shelbee’s Shoppe items? There are still more coming. (What a process! Sheesh.)
I wish you the happiest of new years!
