Inspired by To Be Bright: Florals For Fall? Actually Groundbreaking
The weather in northern New York has been a wee bit erratic the past few weeks with temperatures fluctuating daily in 30-40 degree swings. Is it summer? Is it fall? This strange seasonal transition can complicate our outfit choices, can’t it?
When I saw Tilden of To Be Bright styling this very cool transitional outfit, Florals for Fall? Actually Groundbreaking, I was immediately drawn to the contrast between the fall tones and colors combined with the more summery garments like a lightweight blouse and denim shorts.
I knew I wanted to recreate this look and since it is the perfect season to do so, I went for it straightaway. The only blouse I had that had a similar color palette and print was this high-low top that is way too big on me so I can really only wear it open like a kimono. I layered a simple black camisole and black denim shorts underneath and following Tilden’s lead I opted for brown ankle boots and an oversized hat.
But enough about the clothes…how about Tilden? I have been following To Be Bright for quite a long time and I really enjoy Tilden’s relaxed classic style. She is New Jersey born and raised and brings that cool east coast girl vibe to her style. I always get such a wonderful beachy energy from Tilden. In fact, her blog is kind of like visiting the beach…it’s relaxing, fun, exciting, beautiful, and well, bright.
Tilden doesn’t just share her amazing sense of style either. She writes about a variety of other lifestyle topics from travel and wellness to beauty and home and garden and basically anything else that may interest you. Her blog aesthetic is one of the prettiest I have ever seen with gorgeous photography and inspiring background locations.
I also love getting glimpses into life in New York City for this younger generation of women. Twenty years have passed since I was a 20-something professional in the city and it truly is a very different world. So thank you, Tilden, for allowing me these glimpses!
If you don’t already follow To Be Bright, you can find Tilden on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Bloglovin’, and Instagram. Go on and follow along…you won’t be disappointed!
What have you been wearing during this transitional season? Have you been looking to others for inspiration?

Cute, cute, cute! I really like how that floral top works as a kimono! Layers that can be shed are in order here! 46 for morning school drop but nice with 70s temps in the afternoon! I have kept a couple of shorts out but haven’t worn them. Ready for jeans here!

Mireille, thanks so much! We are pretty much settled into just plain old cold weather with highs in the 50’s during the day and lows dipping down into the 30’s now. I have already seen frost! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Thanks so much, Shauna! It is really beautiful here in the fall. The only problem is that fall ends before Halloween. All the leaves will be gone fast and the snow will come and I will buried until May! I hope you have an amazing weekend, my friend.
