Inspired by Style Crone: My Hat Obsession & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up #50
Are you familiar with the fabulous and ever so stunning Judith of Style Crone? She is the gorgeous 70-something fashionista who dedicates her blog “to the older woman, in her most creative, outrageous, authentic, powerful, adventurous, funny, and proud era.” I have been following Judith for over 2 years and all I can say is this: Thirty years from now, I hope I am half as fabulous as she is! Not only am inspired by her impeccable style, but its her adoration of vintage hats and her amazing collection of headwear that has inspired this particular outfit post.
*This is not a sponsored post. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
*Coat: Very Old from Banana Republic. Similar here and here.
You probably already know that I am recently very hat-obsessed particularly with cloche hats. When I spotted this red cloche hat in Kohl’s a few weeks ago, I have to admit that I drooled a little…like actual real dribble fell from my lips. Kind of gross…but this is the true power of a magnificent hat! It makes me lose all self control! And at 40% off the ticket price plus $5 in Kohl’s rewards, I brought this beauty home with me for right around $20. And I am so happy I did!
*Gloves: Similar here and here.
What better way to pair a vibrant red hat than with some black and white, some floral and plaid, topped with a herringbone coat? I snagged this little black choker style dress from the Target clearance rack a few weeks ago as well and it has quickly become my favorite LBD with its deep vee back and giant bell sleeves. The herringbone coat I have had for well over a decade and it is on constant rotation in my wardrobe. The gloves have also been around for quite a few years and I only just rediscovered them in the bottom of my glove drawer. (Yes, I have an entire drawer filled with gloves. Sad, but true.)
*Hat: Women’s Apt. 9® Wool Felt Floral Cloche Hat.
*Dress: Women’s Long Sleeve Woven Dress – Mossimo Supply Co.™.
Have you been inspired by someone else’s style lately? Or their words? Or their mission? If so, I would love to hear about it in the comments.
*Boots: Similar here, here, and here.
If you don’t already follow Judith, you must check out her marvelous sense of fashion on Instagram at Style Crone. And if you are as fascinated by the power of headwear as I am, do visit Judith’s monthly Hat Attack Link Up for much more inspiration!
*Scarf: Similar here and here.
Whew! What a weekend! I am exhausted and will fill you in all of the wonderful details later this week when I have a moment to relax, process, gather my thoughts, and share with you in a clear and concise manner. But in the meantime, I have to get this link up out there for you all!
And now your favorite posts from last week.
Sarah of Foxy’s Domestic Side shared her post Black And White With a Little Leopard. I am loving the leopard clutch paired with this outfit!
And Debbie of Fashion Fairy Dust shared her post Plaid Dress & Moto Jacket: Twenty More Days… I think this is one of my all time favorite looks that I have ever seen on Debbie…and I pretty much love everything she wears, so that’s saying something.
Spreading some kindness and keeping it on the edge,

Looking great as always! Red is one of my favorite accent colours on you! It just pops so nicely with your dark hair. And I love the cloche style hat – frames your face so nicely. Fabulous as always! Keep warm this week.

Thanks so much, Elizabeth! I honestly didn’t realize how great the color red was for me until I started blogging and people began saying red was my color. I agree with you all now! And I find myself reaching for red more and more often. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.

Isn’t Judith amazing, Shelbee? She lives in Denver, and we’ve even gotten together for coffee once. She’s such a creative spirit and is truly an inspiration!!
As for a drawer full of gloves—I’m thinking that’s normal if you live where it gets cold!! You need all kinds and all styles, right?
XOXO

Oh, Jodie, how fun that you got to meet up with Judith! She really is so amazing! And I agree with you completely about my glove collection. It is similar to my crazy coat collection! My coat must match my outfit and I live where you need to wear a coat 6 months out of the year. Then to add to it all, my hands get seriously cold as soon as the temperatures dip below 60 degrees. So I am often wearing gloves long before I need to put on a coat! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous week.

You were born to wear hats my friend! In particular, the red of this hat further highlights your beautiful face. Thank you so much for the shoutout…pretty sure you loved this look because the dress has “Shelbee” written all over it!

You, my friend, certainly rock a cloche hat! I think it’s what I love about reading blogs – the inspiration I get from real women. I remember being magazine obsessed because I loved fashion but most of the time it was unattainable. Blogs offer real women wearing what they choose and doing so beautifully and authentically. So inspirational!

Kellyann
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Kellyann, thank you so much for this wonderful comment! I agree with you completely about finding inspiration from bloggers, i.e. real women. It is super inspiring to see how real women shop their own closets or find amazing pieces in thrift shops or just show how to style a great bargain piece and still look fabulous. While I would love to have an unlimited budget to stock up on all the super high end amazing runway pieces (who wouldn’t love that?), it is so much more fun creating unique and personalized outfits in an attainable way. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week.

Thanks so much, Cherie! Judith, like you, was one of the very first bloggers I followed! You are right up there with her with your amazing and impeccable style! And I don’t think you necessarily need to have a hat head so to speak, you just need to find the right hat for your head! For example, I look utterly ridiculous in the trending newsboy caps. They are so adorable, but not for me! I stick with cloche hats, buckets, berets, and certain beanies. That’s all that works on my very rotund head! Ha.
