Inspired by Kathrine Eldridge Wardrobe Stylist: All Black with Burgundy Boots
When I think of a woman with incredible style and amazing sartorial taste with a very proficient talent for creating easy outfit combinations that any woman can wear, I immediately think of Kathrine Eldridge. I suppose when you have over 20 years of experience as a personal stylist as well as an inherent passion for all things relating to personal appearance, you do become a style force who ranks at the top of this fashion game.
Kathrine has a wonderful way of mixing high end designer pieces with more budget friendly wardrobe essentials to create an eclectic and very appealing fusion of classic style with bits of bohemian whimsy and edgy street style. There is never an outfit that she shares that doesn’t make me think I can replicate it in my very own way. And that is the best kind of inspiration, in my opinion.
Not only is Kathrine an uncommonly talented wardrobe stylist, she is also a passionate musician and seasoned flutist (you can hear some of her beautiful music here), a wife and a boy mom. She also passed her love and talent for music on to her son, Evan, who is a very accomplished trumpeter in his own right. I love following along their journey to find Evan’s perfect match as far as universities are concerned. But I know for sure that any college would be lucky to have him as well as the entire family as contributing members to whichever university they choose.
Kathrine began her blog Kathrine Eldridge Wardrobe Stylist in May 2014 just one year before I entered the blogging world. I do believe that I connected with Kathrine fairly early on in my own blogging journey and I am continually inspired by her in all aspects of what she does and the way she lives her life filling it with the things that bring her joy and happiness. Not only is she a fashion icon in my eyes, but she is a leading example of a total boss lady. I aspire to conquer a fraction of the goals that she seems to accomplish effortlessly.
There have been many of Kathrine’s outfits that I have wanted to copy over the years and I am just now getting round to it. When she shared this super edgy and cool look in all black with burgundy over the knee boots, Poncho Sweater with a Side of Chanel, I knew immediately this was the outfit for me to feature. While my sweater is not a poncho style and I own nothing that is Chanel, I was still able to find all the pieces I needed in my own closet to create a similar look with my own twist. I am not much of a handbag girl, so I completely omitted hat part all together.
But I did have a few faux leather skirts that were similar in style to the one Kathrine is wearing and my favorite chunky black turtleneck sweater that has not made it onto the blog yet. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to share it (I also have it in ivory and light purple). I added my favorite burgundy platform over the knee boots with my burgundy beret (because I haven’t washed my hair in days). And since it is still bitterly cold winter weather here, a giant leopard coat seemed in order.
For me it is fun to find inspiration in someone else’s outfit but then to add little details of my own to keep the style true to me. So if you see an outfit you really like on someone else but are afraid that it may not be as flattering on you, take all the liberties that you need to in order to create an inspired look that works for you. If you stuck, you can always ask for suggestions. I mean, you are reading a fashion blog post about a wardrobe stylist! We are more than happy to help!
If you don’t already follow Kathrine, you can find her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and Bloglovin’.

Aw, Kathrine, thank you so much! I find so much inspiration from so many of my blogger friends. It’s the least I can do to show my appreciation by recreating looks and then writing posts! Keep shining your light, my friend!

It makes me sad I purged my OTK burgundy boots. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for another pair!

You did fabulous with this re-creation, Shelbee! I have no faux leather pants or skirts in my wardrobe nor do I have any OTK boots and I think I’m going to be on the lookout now that winter clearances are coming up (though I’m still not totally comfortable with the idea of myself in OTK boots). I just love your skirt with that hem detail. And the burgundy beret was a great addition and that leopard coat is gorgeous! Kathrine does have a wonderful sense of style and has inspired me more than a few times, but you have your own amazing style too. And that rock wall looks cold.

Thanks so much, Ruth! I have a few faux leather skirts that I found second hand and couldn’t pass up. I am glad that I have them now. And you could totally rock otk boots! I hope you find a cute pair for yourself on the winter clearance sales.

Great inspiration! I remember when she posted it. The outfit is lovely on both of you. Burgundy with black is an awesome combination. I love the burgundy beret you added. It really ties the entire outfit together – burgundy top and bottom.

Thanks so much, Michelle! I really loved the pairing of black and burgundy as well. I totally had to add my beret…mostly because my hair was unwashed and kind of greasy!

Great boots, Shelbee. I would love to wear long boots over my knee but I have never find any that I can get my legs into nicely. Thanks for joining us at the Weekend Link Up.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Claire! There is a brand called Simply Be that has tall boots that you customize to fit the width of your legs perfectly. Maybe they would have something you like!

Wouldn’t it be fun to do a copy of a copy of a copy? hehe. Mmmm. Ok, that is just a copy. I have parts one and two the sweater and the skirt, just not the leggy otk boots in burgundy! I love that yours are platform! I used to have a brown pair of platform boots years ago! Love the touch of burgundy with your beret and the pins on the hat. It looks great! Such fun inspiration! I need to try this as it is fun to gain inspr from other bloggers! I love your leopard coat, long and fabulous!
thanks for linking!

Jess, thanks so much, my friend! I have seen some do copies of copies and I think I may have even done that myself a time or two! It’s fun! I think you should create a Jess outfit with your skirt and sweater but change up the boots to a statement pair that you have already! As for the platform style of my boots, I love it, but holy cow, they make me really tall. I fell sitting on the toilet because I didn’t accommodate for how tall I actually was while wearing them! Haha. And this leopard coat is one of my fave thrift shop finds of all time!
