Inspired by Jodie’s Touch of Style: How Accessories Can Change An Outfit with Rosegal

This post is inspired by the amazing and super stylish Jodie of Jodie’s Touch of Style. Being an accessory enthusiast, Jodie shares a lot of fabulous ways to elevate an outfit with accessories on her blog. A few months back, she published a series of posts specifically dedicated to how you can completely change your outfits by using different accessories.

*This is a sponsored post. The scarf and bracelet were provided to me. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Being inspired by all the ways Jodie has changed her looks just by adding or changing a few little details, I thought it would be fun to change up my Penn State Game Day outfit from yesterday just by switching out a few accessories.

As you may already know, every Saturday for college football, I create a new outfit in blue and white to support my husband’s favorite college football team, Penn State. My dear friend and photographer, Aimee, recently gifted me this adorable blue and white striped beanie to wear on Saturdays and I was super excited to style it for game day. Wanting the hat to be the statement piece, I kept my outfit simple with an oversized white button down shirt, navy tights, navy over the knee boots, and denim shorts. As the weather is starting to become frigid, I added my navy puffer coat.

*Also, check out this little hack for adding some shape and interest when your shirt is too long and overwhelming. Just pull the shirt through your belt loop to create the illusion that it is knotted at the waist. I learned that trick from the brilliant Cheryl of Northwest Mountain Living and I use it quite often.  Thank you, Cheryl!

*Shirt: Women’s Plus Size Tencel® Button Down Tunic – Ava & Viv™ from Target ($17.48).

*Shorts: Torrid Skinny Short Shorts – Dark Wash with Rolled Hem and High Rise Waist ($39.98).

*Boots: Unisa Gillean Over the Knee Boot from DSW. I bought these a few years ago, so they are only available in leopard print in very limited sizes.

*Coat: Belted Puffer Coat with Faux Fur Hood from Burlington Coat Factory. I bought this coat last year so there is very limited availability online.

After I snapped some photos of my game day outfit, I thought for a regular day I could totally change up this look with some brighter accessories. And it just so happened that I had this gorgeous printed scarf sitting in my closet that needed to be styled on my blog. The colors and the print were perfect to brighten up the white and navy. I changed my earrings and necklace to turquoise to pull in the vibrant colors of the scarf. And added my new favorite red cuff bracelet. (See how I previously styled this bracelet here). By changing my jacket to a menswear inspired overcoat, I have created an entirely different look without actually changing my clothes.

*Scarf: Ethnic Floral Totem Printing Retro Tassels Scarf – Lake Blue ($5.78) c/o Rosegal.

*Bracelet: Zip Faux Leather Bracelet – Red ($2.40) c/o Rosegal.

*Jacket: Old Navy (No longer available). Similar here, here, here, and here.

*Bralette: Torrid Lace Up Bralette ($34.90). No longer available in navy.  Available in black or white.

And I had no idea how much I love turquoise and red together until I was going through these photos! This scarf is so brilliant in its color and pattern. I adore the print. And it is large enough to wear as a wrap or a sarong as well. It washed beautifully which is wonderful since I think it will be on constant rotation in my wardrobe.

I actually was about to choose this scarf when my 4 year old intervened and chose the turquoise.

Ethnic Flowers Printed Cotton Blended Shawl Scarf in Black from Rosegal

As much as I love this black and red scarf (I may add it to my next Rosegal order. At $5.78, it is totally worth it!), I am completely pleased with the one my son chose for me!

If you are looking for an amazing selection of affordable scarves for yourself or for holiday gift ideas, Rosegal has all kinds of sales going on over the next 10 days.  Also check out their bracelet selection.

How do you change your outfits with accessories? Scarves are always a favorite of mine for elevating an outfit. What are your go-to accessories?
