Inspired by Chez Mireille: Monochromatic Black for Summer
I know I have been sharing a lot of inspired looks recently but I just can’t help myself! All of my fabulous blogger friends have been killing it when it comes to summer style. I suppose maybe all the time spent at home has gotten everyone back to a creative place when it comes to fashion and personal style. But it maybe hasn’t gotten me to a creative place because I keep stealing styles. It is so much fun though and you all seem to really enjoy these posts. So here we go…
Today’s outfit was inspired by sweet, wonderful, kind, beautiful Mireille of Chez Mireille. If you are not familiar with this lovely woman, you must go acquaint yourself because she is one of the brightest lights shining in this blogging world today, sharing her everyday style and lots of fun family stuff as well as travel, cooking, and parenting tips.
Can I tell you that I seriously strive to be like Mireille. I don’t know how she does it all. She is a mom of 4 boys (I am literally dying over here trying to raise 2 boys), she has an amazing blog, she kicks ass at this home schooling thing that I have been completely resistant to and failing miserably at, and she has incredible style that inspires me on the daily.
A few weeks ago, Mireille shared a post, Monochromatic Black for Summer, which featured three different outfits, but it was this one with the “Fun Fun Fun” graphic tee and pencil skirt that really caught my eye. I love the combination of a graphic tee with a skirt and Mireille nailed this look. I knew immediately that I had to copy it except I wasn’t sure what graphic tee or sandals to wear since I didn’t have either that resembled Mireille’s pieces.
But that is half the fun of doing a style steal…making it your own with the pieces that you already have in your closet. I knew that I had a midi length knit pencil skirt that would be perfect. I also have dozens of different graphic tees, many of which are black, so I just had to decide which one would most closely relate to Mireille’s tee shirt that boldly professes, “Fun Fun Fun”. I figured a giant heart and love logo is really all about fun as well so that is the tee I chose.
I knew I had thong style sandals similar to Mireille’s beautiful red ones, but I don’t have any in red. So I went for these neon yellow ones instead and added jewelry that would pick up that color. I was super pleased that my backyard fence is so similar to Mireille’s because it really helped with choosing a photo location without having to leave my house. Yep, I am still in social anxiety mode and staying home as much as I possibly can.
Let’s get back to Mireille though. If there were a kindness meter to measure a person’s level of benevolence, I think that Mireille might break the meter! She really is that kind and good. She is always quick with an encouraging comment and always on the ready to uplift those who need uplifting. Her generosity knows no bounds as she is always willing to pay it forward, to do for others, and to give to others. I honestly do not even know how long I have known Mireille, but I am so thankful that our paths have crossed on this blogging journey.
She is another blessing sent to this community to spread kindness, to support and empower other women, and to share joy and light with everyone who encounters her. Please do go visit her blog and see for yourself! You can also find Mireille on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
What are you thoughts on monochromatic black for summer? I would wear black every day any season so it always works for me!

Michelle, thanks so much! I definitely enjoyed pairing all the jewelry together. I don’t wear bracelets often so it was fun to layer them on. I am glad that you like it!

Cheryl, thanks so much! I am a huge fan of monochromatic black outfits. I used to wear all black all the time. Blogging has inspired me to add more colors to my closet, but I do like to return to my roots and my comfort zone every now and then!

You look fabulous first of all and without even reading your title I knew you were inspired by Mireille and I knew exactly which outfit of hers too, as I have previously featured that outfit of hers. I love your tee and I love that you chose colorful statement jewelry with it – Mireille also wears lots of colorful earrings so well done! I also noticed your gated backyard backdrop that was the same. And I agree Mireille is THAT KIND! Glad I am doing the SUNDAY SHOWCASE with her, by the way come join the latest one!

P.S. I also featured one of your outfits on Thursday Moda this week. Come see which one!

Ada, thanks so much, my friend! Mireille really is quite an amazing woman and a great blogger friend! Thanks so much for the feature! I will be making some blogging rounds today. I have been on vacation this week so I have nothing new to link up though.
