Inspired by Age of Grace: Pink Kimono Style
Without this amazing blogging community, I really don’t know how I would survive this great void of quarantine. I have lost so much motivation, so much inspiration, so much drive these past few months and I feel like there is no end in sight. I am certain I am not alone in these feelings right now. Even as we are slowly emerging from lockdown, I am just not ready. I like the safety and seclusion of my home right now so I will continue staying here until my anxiety and agoraphobia begin to subside. In the meantime, however, I have been relying on my blogger friends to inspire and motivate me.
Today’s outfit was inspired by an amazing blogger friend and Forever Fierce sister, Eugenia of Age of Grace. I am sure you already know about my undying love for kimonos and when I saw Eugenia’s outfit featuring this gorgeous pink floral kimono in her post, September 14, Target’s Anniversary Collection Drops, I wanted to replicate it immediately. Except I don’t own a pink floral kimono.
I own lots of floral kimonos and a few solid pink ones. The contrast between the pale pink layered on top of an all black outfit is super striking, so I had to make due with a solid pink kimono to recreate Eugenia’s look. Ever since shooting these photographs though, I have been shopping around a bit for a pink floral one to add to my ever growing kimono collection which has surpassed 60 at my last count. It is that fact alone, I already own 60 kimonos, that stops me from purchasing yet another one. But they are all so good and so very pretty!
But enough about me and my crazy kimono obsession. Let’s get back to sweet, wonderful, stylish Eugenia. I met Eugenia back in the Fall of 2017 when she invited me to join the Forever Fierce group in New York City for an event sponsored and hosted by Chico’s. You can read all about that meet up here. Eugenia has been an influential member of this inspiring group of women led by Catherine Grace O’Connell.
Before meeting Eugenia in person, I had spoken to her on the telephone a few times during the planning of this event in 2017. On the telephone, you could just feel the positive energy and the overwhelming care and kindness that Eugenia puts forth into the world. She expresses so much enthusiasm and passion for any project that she is involved in and she really, truly goes above and beyond to share that passion and to make everyone around her feel appreciated and welcomed.
Eugenia’s kindness is quite unrivaled. She is a very active member of the Forever Fierce Revolution, scheduling events on the East Coast, making birthday videos for many of the 6,500 plus members, and always reaching out to check in with her Fierce Sisters. I am so grateful that our paths have crossed on this blogging journey. Eugenia has been so instrumental in broadening my network of blogger friends. If not for her, I think I may not know many of the amazing and inspiring women whom I have met along the way.

This is the best kind of inspiration! I just got my inspiration for my Monday’s post from an Instagram post this morning! You did great (like the matching pose) and I love this pink kimono. Now 60 kimonos…that is a lot! You could wear a different one every day for 2 months. That would be a series, 60 days in kimonos!

Even with out a pink floral kimono, I think you did a great job replicating Eugenia’s outfit. Beautiful! Pink is such a lovely color. Oh, and I love the white streak in your hair.
I am having trouble with inspiration lately. I think my brain is too full of Covid-19 (we are having a big spike in cases here) and my elimination diet. Crocheting is easy and doesn’t take much, but it riled up my shoulder, so I can’t do it everyday. And outfit wise….? I think I am a bit inspired by orange, so that’s something.

Michelle, thanks so much! You know my brain is overflowing with all kinds of things that are just completely exhausting me. I keep telling myself to start writing all of the things down and then I convince myself that it is too hard and I am too tired and then I just wander around my house aimlessly all day long. I am so sorry that your area is seeing spikes in cases again. I am sure it is super stressful. I am fortunate to live in a very rural area and we haven’t seen many cases at all. We are still at less than 90 cases total in my entire county since the beginning of this pandemic and no deaths. I still have no intention of leaving my house any time soon either. I hope you are able to find some peace from your anxiety soon, my friend. And wear some orange things!

Shelbee, I totally relate to being unmotivated! Ugg. I feel like I am in some sort of time void and I can’t get out!! Ha, ha. In addition, the lack of contact with other people makes it so much easier to feel like a failure and start dredging up how I failed as a mom, a wife, blah, blah, blah. I appreciate that you are honest about your feelings. Sometimes I look at other bloggers and I think, man they have it all together. They have energy, the drive to be fit and eat right and they don’t seem to struggle with these kinds of issues. I know that’s not true for everyone, but when we don’t have that contact it is easy to start going down that path. Now that my little rant is done, let me just say, I went immediately and subscribed to Eugenia’s blog. I love how you mimicked her look and you made it totally your own with the distressed jeans. Amy, thank you so much for this comment. I am definitely stuck in a time warp as well. It is crazy. Each day feels like it lasts about 80 hours and so I cannot even keep track of the days or even the hours anymore. And it definitely leads us to getting lost inside of our own minds too often. I have done so much thinking and contemplating these past few months, some good, some bad, all exhausting at this point. While I don’t like that you are also struggling, I am super appreciative to know that I am not struggling alone. And your kind words validate for me that I am doing the right thing by sharing some of the icky side of life. So thank you for also keeping it real! Hang in there, my friend. That is such a beautiful pink kimono on you and I love it with the black! I’m so impressed you have so many kimono – how do you store them all? I was surprised when I filmed a video and realised I had 20 kimonos, that seemed like an awful lot to me!

Thanks so much, Mica! Twenty kimonos is a lot! I just go overboard with everything. Haha. We converted the smallest bedroom of our house into my closet so I have plenty of room to store things. But still, the closet room is completely overflowing. I wish I had the patience to clean it out! We should do some sort of kimono collaboration! Like wear a kimono every day for 2 weeks or something. We haven’t had very many cases in my area because it is very rural here, but nonetheless I keep hearing all these awful stories about people getting into screaming matches in public places over wearing masks, etc. That kind of conflict makes me so anxious that I just need to stay home until it stops. And since I can stay home, I will stay home! Cheers to a brighter future for all of humanity!
