I Think I Fell in Love: New Arrivals from Ruby Ribbon & Link Up On the Edge #103
I love clothes. And shoes. And jewelry. And handbags. And hats. And just about all things that are related to fashion and style. I have always been this way. I will always be this way. It is not something that I have ever considered changing…because I don’t want to. It brings me so much joy. Yes, there are so many more important things in life that also bring me joy…my kids, my family, my home, my friends, good books, great music, savory foods, coffee, waking up with the sunrise, my goals, my hopes, my dreams. But right smack in the middle of all that, fashion also brings me a lot of joy. It is a part of my every single day. I love creating outfits, I love shopping, I love just browsing online and buying nothing. I can get lost scrolling through fashion posts on Pinterest for hours (which is why I don’t visit Pinterest all that often) with a big goofy smile frozen on my face. For me, it is like a fine art enthusiast who visits the Louvre for the first time. I just get lost in all the beauty and the creative innovations. The shapes, the patterns, the colors. All of it fascinates and intrigues me. And just plain old makes me giddy with joy.
And yes, I have a shopping problem. Like many other women (and probably some men, too), I have a closet filled with things that I love, things that I keep around just in case, things are so practical and necessary that you must own them, and things that I never should have purchased in the first place. But it is a rare occasion when something comes along that I legitimately fall in love with! And want it in every single color. Right now, my current love interest is the Ruby Ribbon Racerback Sports Demiette. I never thought I could wear a demiette of this sort that would support the size and weight of my breasts that I could walk confidently out my door wearing it instead of a bra. And I really never thought I would ever walk out my door wearing the demiette without a top at all! Granted, I did stay in my back yard for the photos, but I am sure somebody saw me and I wasn’t even all that self-conscious about it. One thing I have learned about fashion recently is that good quality undergarments can transform your wardrobe completely. The wrong undergarments can completely devastate a cute outfit. But the right undergarments can improve your style game forever.
I am going to show you a lot of photos so you can get the idea of how great this demiette is! (If you are just wanting to link, scroll all the way to the bottom…way, way, way down there.) My bra size is a 38H. Yes, an H! You would never even have guessed that, would you? I often can’t believe it myself. But that is what the measuring tape says and measuring tapes, like scales, don’t lie.
Now let me tell you about these leggings. They are brand new to Ruby Ribbon…just released last night! So these Reversible Sport Crop Leggings have only become available for purchase within the last few hours. They are black on one side and a desert rose floral print on the reverse side.
These leggings are crafted with Ruby Ribbon’s signature support, shaping, and comfort system. And you get two different looks in one pair of leggings. The quality of the fabric and the detail in the stitching is superb. They are super comfortable with support that is not restricting. And they add practicality and versatility to your work out wardrobe.
I topped off my monochromatic black work out outfit with this adorable Diamond Bomber. It is a classic bomber jacket style created from a self-lined poly/spandex blend with a diamond double knit jacquard texture. Other features include front pockets, a zipper front, and ribbed detailing at the neck and cuffs. It is breathable and movable, perfectly suited for three season wear.
Now that you have seen the black side of the leggings and what I wear as a base layer, let me show the pretty desert rose floral side of the leggings and this amazing tank top.
The tank top. I absolutely love this tank top for my morning walks. Made with moisture wicking fabric and a sheer back and neckline for greater air circulation, it is super cool and comfortable. It tapers gently at the waist creating a more flattering silhouette and is long enough to cover any problematic tummy rolls.
It is a really gorgeous rich shade of dark blue which contrasts nicely against the black netting. The colors pair perfectly with both sides of the reversible leggings and the blue really makes the colors in the floral print come to life.
I have recently mentioned on Instagram that I had started taking daily walks (which have now tapered off to once or twice a week walks…it has just been way too hot and humid for me to leave my air conditioned house). I literally had no clothing that was appropriate for frequent 3-4 mile walks. My shorts are too short and cause that dreadful thigh chafing. The few leggings that I had were not equipped to stay properly in place during moderate exercise. And shirts, forget about shirts. I had nothing appropriate. I did add a few workable pieces from Old Navy which are okay. But this Ruby Ribbon gear is by far my favorite! Like I said, I think I fell in love. Madly and deeply in sartorial love.
And seriously, how cute is the whole ensemble paired all together? It sort of makes exercise feel more like a easy jaunt down a fashion runway! Until the sweat starts to trickle behind my ears, then it just feels like exercise.
I mean, even the deer couldn’t get enough of the pretty floral print on my leggings!
Do you have specific wardrobe pieces that are exclusive for your exercise routine? Are you like me, still wanting to be stylish even while exercising? What are the must have pieces in your work out wardrobe?
And now onto the link up and your featured favorites from last week.

I love the whole look with the floral leggings. And how brilliant to make them double-sided! I think EVERYTHING should be double-sided!

OMG, the look on your face in the running picture is too cute and mischievous simultaneously! And I love the leggings too. I third the opinion that all things should be double sided. They should also cost less than $5, imho, but I won’t be holding my breath on that score.
But seriously, the workout outfit is so cool, it makes me want to go to the park and watch the runners run by.
I don’t run any more. I walk because I have a dog, and he likes to walk along the river. God bless his little doggie self, he motivates me. Bearing in mind that the median temp in these parts is hot as balls, I have a complete collection of sports bras, oops demiettes. (had to google demiette, which led to this hilarious headline about RubyRibbon. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/ruby-ribbon-bans-the-uniboob-launches-the-demiette-300392606.html). I got my chest reduced five or ten years ago, because my chest was so large, I was starting to walk bent over, like a mama gorilla. Best decision ever! Since then, I haven’t had to pay $75 for a bra, have them custom fitted or any of the other BS I suffered while I had them. (boobs not bras) I only wear a bra if I am wearing a light colored shirt, and sometimes not even then. And yes, I know that support wear can make or break an outfit, which is why I possess so many demiettes. And bralettes. Also, they look really good peeking out from under tank tops.
I did keep one bra from my old days, just for gloating purposes.
You look wonderful, Shelbee!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Again, Susan, you have left me chuckling in my coffee as I read your comment! I do not run either…clearly…as you can see by the look on my face in the “running” photo! Ha. If I actually ran as fast as I could, not only would I be on the verge of a heart attack but I may very well knock myself out cold with the vigorous bouncing of my knockers! And I have to admit that I am a bit envious that you no longer need to spent a fortune on boob support and that you can go completely with no bra at all! Although, I have been recently experimenting with going totally braless (in my house, of course) in teeny tiny tight tee shirts…my husband quite likes it! I will keep it in my house since it is a bit indecent by society standards, but perhaps I will write a blog post about one if these days. I have to say though that it is very liberating to just grab hold of my sexuality as a woman, own it, and flaunt it around! I do love a pretty lacy bralette, too, but I always need to wear a bra underneath them because they offer no support at all. And yes, let’s ban the uniboob! Such a great headline!

First those leggings—that so smart to have them reversible like that!! Who wouldn’t love that?
And second…I have a question for a friend (seriously, a friend)….what makes this demi bra support you better?? Is it the material??
XOXO

Jodie, the reversible leggings really are genius! As for the racerback demiette, it is the same material as the original demiette, but I think it is the racerback style that seems to hold everything in tighter. I have the same size in both the racerback and the original and the racerback really does feel snugger and a bit more supportive. I can definitely feel it supporting better posture for me, too. The way it fits just between my shoulder blades rather than over my shoulders. I know this is not the scientific explanation as to why the racerback supports better, but from my personal perspective, that sure is what it “feels” like! I hope my answer helps your friend!

Susan
Another two cents from me. I can’t help my verbosity, your subjects interest me! Mea Culpa, my apologies.
Anyway, from my days of huge boob sporting, I know that the racerbacks always supported me better than anything. Exercising, even walking, in an underwire is hot, painful and gets your $75 bra all sweaty! I used to put on a regular sports bra and a racerback over it, just so I didn’t knock myself or passersby out with “vigorous bouncing of the knockers”. (Stolen from Shelbee, made me lol) In addition to increased support, the straps at the base of the neck are so much more comfy.
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
I hear you about working out in an underwire bra, Susan! I have done it… on many occasions because it was the only bra I had. Super uncomfortable, for sure. And definitely takes a toll on the pricy bras. Plus mine are all lace which is awful for sweat! A good racerback sports bra is definitely the way to go even for light to moderate (not vigorous) exercise. Nobody needs to fall victim to a boob-related athletic injury!

That sports bra really does have the girls upright, front and center! Typically you get that “uniboob” look from a sports bra so this one definitely is a keeper! The whole two sided thing is pretty genius as well…
Debbie

shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Thanks so much, Debbie! Typical sports bras not only give me uniboob but they don’t even hold me in and everything eventually ends up spilling over the top or out the bottom…and that is NOT a good look for anyone! The racerback seems to give me a tremendous amount of support in all areas. I love this demiette! And reversible leggings! Why has this not been thought of before?

Hi Shelby! Awesome post on an AMAZING product! I have both the V and Scoop neck Demiette and can’t wait to check out the new RACERBACK!!! I agree, RR products are life changing, the right undergarments make ALL the difference in the final outfit. Plus I feel more confident when I am comfortable. I love the strapless cami as well, it works so wonderful under summer tops and dresses and I love how it whisks away boob and back sweat!
Love the leggings too!!

Suzanne, thank you so much for sharing your RR experience! I am really loving the racerback. I feel like the style of the back is super supportive and really holds everything in place. I definitely need to try to strapless cami next. I have never been able to wear a strapless bra with the size of my breasts, so I am excited to find something that will work for me!

How fantastic is it when you find that perfect items that just works and fits you so well!?! And I love reversible items/anything that can give multiple looks. Unlike you, I keep a pretty small/tight closet and that kind of versatility is SO important to me! Makes for lighter packing on trips as well. Have a great weekend, friend!
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Betsy, thanks so much! I think versatility in wardrobe pieces is super important even in my giant overstuffed closet! I do love to mix things up a bit. And I agree the reversible leggings are definitely perfect for travel…two pairs in one! I hope your weekend is fabulous, too!

Well Shelbee, I learn something new everyday but to have a sports bra that is comfortable and natural looking is awesome, wonder what it would do for a 70 year old, lol.
Thanks for hosting, hope you have a great week!

Thanks so much, Karren! I do believe it would off a 70 year the very same amazing and comfortable support that it offers this 44 year old!

Your face Shelbee is so adorable!! Love the exercise leggings, the floral ones are gorgeous! I walk most days with the dogs and haven’t jogged since country runs at school (still haunts me). Boobs used to be such an issue for me but not so much at all these days (sadly). But now I honestly don’t think I could run, if I tried! Still, I love your exercise wear and would totally wear them! xx
shelbeeontheedge@gmail.com
Maria, thanks so much! I totally just stick with walking myself, too. My husband thought it was funny to make me “run”! I was a competitive swimmer when I was younger so my work out wear consisted of swim suits and goggles, for the most part, with warm sweatpants and oversized sweatshirts to keep warm. This is a whole new realm of exercise gear for me. But I am loving it, for sure.
